This hotel is in a good location and has a comfortable feel to it. The rooms are clean, a bit small and there is limited space to lay out your toiletries in the bathroom. The bed and pillows were quite comfortable. The breakfast served in the hotel was free, but limited, so we didn't eat there. The woman at the...

My husband and I visit Alaska every year and will be coming again this September. Our first night in we stay at the Historic. We love it there. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's in a perfect location, close to the Alaska railroad, lots of great restaurants and shopping. We have tried...

My husband and I stayed two nights at the beginning of a two week tour of Alaska. Loved the hotel. Excellent location near restaurants and the train station. We took a train up north and it was an easy 1 and a half block walk. Also loved the little breakfast area with interesting paintings by the owner's brother. Enjoyed it...

We had one night in Ancorage before heading to the Kenai Pennisula . We wanted to walk around downtown Ancorage, have a good meal and a good night's sleep. The Historic Ancorage is in the heart of town with several options foe dinner near by. There is no AC, however, we didn't need it the beds were very comfortable with...

Some of these reviews complain that the hotel is 'dated' or 'old'... The complainers shouldn't be surprised, it's in the name. I would stay there again and highly recommend this quirky, friendly, historic, clean hotel. The breakfast area is very cool, the old photos give a sense of time and place, and the rooms are big and clean. Sure it...

It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to stay is the oldest hotel in Anchorage. The hotel is very nicely renovated with all of the modern conveniences EXCEPT air conditioning. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room a bit small but comfortable. We were there during a bit of a warm spell. The room was warm but...

We spent 2 nights here in early August. The room was comfortable, bathroom clean and spacious, but looked out over a painted bland brick walk with some sad forgotten pot plants on a shelf. Their wifi did not work, despite 3 requests at reception to reboot their server; we were on the second floor which the receptionist said was 'dodgy'....

Let's get the only negative out of the way first--there's lots of street noise and late night rowdiness to contend with. Since the hotel is not air conditioned, leaving the windows up in warm weather is a must. The hotel is located on one of the busiest corners of downtown Anchorage. We didn't discover the white noise machine in the...

First, let me begin with the positives. The hotel staff is outstanding and very accommodating. I stayed for three nights and they knew my name. Despite some minor issues, they were very helpful. So I have no complaints about the staff. The room, though not large, was comfortable. It was clean and nicely decorated and very bright. The location of...

This historic hotel, situated across the street from the Egan Civic Center, has been renovated while still maintaining much of its historic character. It is necessarily noisy because of its busy location. The rooms facing the street have good views of downtown and the civic center, but the rooms in the rear are desirable for noise mitigation. The staff, somewhat...
