Hotel's Favorite
From the minute you arrive at the elegant front door, you know this is a classy hotel, the way hotels used to be and ought to be. The welcoming front lobby has easy chairs and a chess table, with carpeting in a Victorian floral pattern. The elevator has wood paneling nad brass rails. Sadly, the big wooden bar in teh adjacent room no longer serves alcohol, but it makes a pleasant breakfast spot. Pancakes, eggs, bacon and the usual assortment of cereal and pastries. Pretty good coffee. The rooms were very satisfactory with comfortable beds and furnishings; gold accents on the bathroom fixtures. We stayed one night on each end of a trip down the Kenai Penninsula, and the second night upgraded to "junior" suite, which was vfery spacious and comfortable. Front desk staff were freindly and welcoming, and happy to share insights about local restaurants and pubs. The manager Terri was especially helpful. On our second night my wife had caught a nasty cold or flu, and Terri shared soe essential oils wuth her which really did help. I doubt you'd find someone doing that at the Hilton next door! Historic Anchorage will absolutely be our hotel of choice if we return to Anchorage.

Dear Steven C, WOW! Thank you for the awesome 5 star review! I must confess... I receive a report and it only shows me the first half of the review. Who would know two weeks ago the world would stop. Now that we have time to disinfect, clean, clean, clean and read the entire reviews. I personally got choked up and glossy eyes when I read yours! THANK YOU! We are glad to hear you enjoyed the staff, the hotel and the upgrade to the Junior Suite. Also, happy the essential oils helped her. Thank you again for staying with us! We look forward to hosting you both the next time you return to Alaska. Stay safe and healthy, Warmest regards, Terri

This is a nice Hotel within easy walking distance to lots of Shops, Restaurants, and Bars. The rooms are nice and clean with nice beds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the temperature in the rooms was very hot and could not be adjusted. I slept with the window open, it was about five degrees overnight, that did create a comfortable sleeping temperature.

I had accidentally written this hotel about an incident regarding my daughter. Turned out I had the wrong hotel. Terri quickly called me to let me know i had the wrong hotel & forwarded my contact information with my complaint to the correct hotel. Terri was absolutely wonderful, kind & professional. She didn't have to help me but she went out of her way to make things right for me. This says everything to me about a hotel & his hotel is top notch in my book.

Four of us stayed over en route to Alyeska skiing so that we could enjoy a day of exploring Anchorage. What a great spot. Yes, it is old but very quaint and ya gotta love the bar even though they do not have a liquor license. They serve a nice self serve breakfast in the AM and don't forget to try the pancake machine. It was a big hit with our guys. Rooms are comfortable and service is very friendly, efficient and informative. Sound suppression is a bit on the light side and you can hear the voices of guests in adjoining rooms but I would still stay again and I do recommend this Quaint and well preserved Hotel. Thanks to the Proprietor. We enjoyed our chat with you.
