We have just returned from a 5 day stay at the stunning La Vielle Ferme D'Amfreville.
David and Alyson are simply the best hosts....nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel so welcome in their beautifully renovated stone built home. The property is so typically French and the rooms have been sympathetically decorated in a French style.
Breakfast consisted of fresh pastries ,artisan breads, meats ,cheeses, homemade conserves and granola pots which were such a treat.(Alyson's homemade granola)
The Normandy coast is just so beautiful and with David's extensive historical knowledge we were able to explore so much of which we may have missed of this amazing area.
David is a superb chef and his food is exceptional, we enjoyed two Table d'hote meals ,four courses of pure delight which were worthy of a Michelin Star and two Chacuterie Boards which included David's homemade pies ...
The property also offers a stunning three bedroom Gite which is completely self contained on the opposite side to the main house. The Gite has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and has been completed to a very high standard and we were very pleased to be offered a guided tour.
The whole property is amazing and we had such a fabulous holiday and can't wait to return very soon.

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed everything : the calm and charming large red Toile de Jouy room and bathroom full of nice details for the guests (home made soaps!), David and Alyson kindness and talent to run the house, the excellent quality of the food : they have a vegetable garden and we tested it at breakfast time (rhubarb in a delicious creamy granola) and at the 2 dinners we took. By the way, superb dinners, extra professional presentation of the plates without talking about the content itself : we spent 10 days in the Cotentin and David's dinners were the best ones, thanks again! Next time i won't resist to try the afternoon tea...
I forget to mention the very nice flourished wall garden in front of the farm, as well as the large back courtyard available to rest in the sun.
To summarize : do not miss that address, an excellent place in the middle of the Cotentin.
Dear David and Allyson, i wish you all the best.

Where do I start? I’ve just returned from the most wonderful holiday at the Old Farm in Amfreville!
We attended a cookery course with our Chef, David, added an extra couple of days stay as well as a tour of important D-day sites: just marvellous!
Our Blue Toile room was charming, spacious and comfortable; breakfast was extraordinary- homemade jams, delicious breads, waffles to order, local cheeses and charcuterie too. We had dinner each evening and dined like (French) royalty!

The farmhouse has been so sensitively renovated, and everywhere you look the details are so carefully considered.

And the cookery course…. Oh my. I learned so many techniques, and after a visit to the market, cooked with new ingredients. David is a natural teacher: patient, encouraging and great fun!

The first thing I did as I got on the ferry to travel home was plan our next visit - and encourage all my family to visit too.
It really is that good!

We have just returned from a wonderful stay and cookery course in the Old Farm. The farmhouse is beautifully restored with lovely furnishings and a real eye for interesting detail. The beds were very comfortable and the accommodation has unusually large, smart bathrooms. The food was plentiful and amazing; in particular, it is clear that Dave likes to source high quality, local products. We enjoyed the trips to the market and the cider farm and had a blast on the cookery course, learning new tastes and flavours (and the importance of measuring and presenting things properly) within a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. In fact, Dave and Alison were so generous in every way - with their time, with the planning of the trips and the meals, with so many little welcoming touches, and with their focus on making their guests have the best possible time. We heartily recommend the Old Farm.

You won't find a better place to stay in Normandy than The Old Farm of Amfreville. David and Alyson are friendly, caring and incredible hosts. Read all the reviews and there is not a one that I would argue with. The Garden Room was well situated and impeccably furnished. The breakfast was terrific and if you start your day hungry it is your own fault. The price is very reasonable. If you are going to spend a whole day sightseeing, I would recommend ordering a "picnic basket"! David prepared a French picnic for us and we got 2 meals each from the basket. All fresh and handmade. Don't miss this wonderful spot.

It doesn’t get much better. If you are considering a stay in the Normandy area stay here. David and Alyson really do a wonderful job together. We stayed in the Red Toile room and loved every moment. From the complimentary cider to Alyson’s homemade lavender soap their hospitality made our stay exceptionally special. David’s meal of an evening if offered should not be missed. The food was incredible. The meals prepared by David were hands down the best meals we had while in France. Breakfast was also a treat with homemade jams and cheeses. The location is great if you have a car as you will be situated perfectly for D’ Day sites. Close enough to Sainte Mere Eglise but far enough out to give you a feel of remoteness. Above all the friendliness David, Alyson, and of course Wrigley showed us over our stay made this an unforgettable location.

Thanks to our incredible hosts, David and Alyson, this was absolutely one of my favorite trips ever. Before we even booked our room, we communicated with David about the cooking school, the rooms, and the nearby attractions. We really appreciated how responsive and friendly he was through the whole booking process. Once we arrived, it was clear that David and Alyson put so much love and care into their property, food, and hospitality. Everything was PERFECT! The decor is incredible - curated completely by Alyson, and the food is truly gourmet - David is a competition award winning chef!!! We took the fantastic two day cooking course where we went to the local markets and picked out the freshest fish and produce, and prepared our meals in the newly built French style kitchen. David is an excellent teacher and his passion for cooking is only surpassed by his encyclopedic knowledge of food and history. In addition to cooking, we spent time touring the countryside and learning everything we could about the cheese, cider, calvados, and the history. I would wholeheartedly recommend staying here!!!!! We are already planning our next visit!!

THis place is outstanding and so well run by David and Alyson. The evening meals are to die for, do not turn up the option of having the evening meals if available. We travel as 2 family couples and all wish we had booked for longer. David is such a fantastic chef and their journey to opening was not easy just being ready to open when Covid struck. They had a vision and it has come to fruition. They truly deserve to succeed in their venture. Do not hesitate to book and stay with them in their family home.

We spent a wonderful couple of nights at this delightful old farmhouse. We were warmly welcomed by Alyson and David and shown into the lovely garden room with access to their garden and then enjoyed a complimentary bottle of local cider. After visiting the D day beaches, the Bayeux tapestry and many other interesting sites we returned to some delicious meals prepared by David, definitely a talented chef. Both Alyson and David were able to provide interesting information about the Normandy area. Well worth a visit and would love to think we might return some day.

What a fantastic stay, the farmhouse is picturesque, tastefully decorated inside & out and has a lovely warm feel to the place. The owners, David & Alison, have spent a lot of time and effort to make the old farmhouse what it is today. Added to which, David and Alison, can also provide evening meals, oh my word just amazing and just like the “old France” fantastic cooking with beautifully balanced flavours; a real treat and just lovely to come back to at the end of a long days sightseeing. David & Alison should rightly be very proud of what they have achieved here and no surprise we’ll be back!
