We enjoyed our stay, the location was great for the Public Market Center, the Monorail & good restaurants. Please note that since this is a downtown hotel, there is limited curbside access to the hotel. One useful tip - before checking in, if driving, park in the underground parking first and access the lobby from there.

Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I spent three nights at the Motif Seattle both before and after a recent Alaskan cruise. We arrived two days prior to sailing, which allowed us one full day to see some of the sights. First, the hotel: the Motif is an upscale hotel located in the busy downtown area of Seattle. The rooms are modern, tastefully decorated and roomy. On our first visit (May 10-12), we had a room on a lower floor. On the return night (May 19), the hotel generously provided an upgrade to a larger room on the 20th floor. We returned to Seattle from the cruise a few hours before the room was ready, and the staff graciously tagged and stored our bags while we waited. The hotel has all the expected amenities for a place of this scale. One nice feature is the Frolik Restaurant on the fifth floor, which serves scheduled meals and has a lovely bar and an open patio deck for relaxing and looking over the Seattle skyline. There's a "basement" tavern and restaurant on site called Elephant and Castle as well. You won't find any lack of quality restaurants in the area, with many just walking distance away. Speaking of walking, there's lots of sites to see nearby, including the Space Needle, Seattle Center and Pike's Market. Both are a reasonable walk from the hotel. I mentioned that the accommodations are lovely. The beds are roomy and comfortable, there are large screen TVs (with actual HD programming - you'd be surprised how many places don't have it), spotlessly clean bathrooms and plenty of necessities. When reserving, ask if there's a room facing 5th Avenue in the front of the hotel for a more desirable view. My only complaint (and it's a minor one) has to do with the TV remote controls in both rooms. I don't know if it's an installation, programming or battery thing, but both were a bit difficult to use. One only worked when we mashed the buttons and the other literally had to be pointed directly at the TV in a certain spot, or it wouldn't react. Like a lot of hotels, they use "generic" remotes that are replaceable and "universal", but you shouldn't need to sit on top of the TV to turn the volume up or change a channel. Luckily, each room is equipped with an Amazon Alexa device, which can turn the TV on and off, as well as provide a lot of other helpful information. If you're going on a cruise at any of the nearby ship terminals, this is an ideal place to stay. All the terminals are no more than a few minutes away by cab/rideshare. We sailed from the 91st Street terminal, which is the furthest away and it was a quick trip by cab. Most of the cabs offer a flat rate between the downtown hotels and the terminals, as well as Sea-Tac Airport. Regarding cabs, you will never have to wait more than a few moments to get a cab or rideshare, as the cab stand in front of the hotel is very busy. Getting an Uber/Lyft in Seattle is really easy, as just about every other car we saw appeared to be one. When we left to fly home, we dragged our bags to the sidewalk and a cab appeared in literally no time for a lift to the airport. We highly recommend the Motif Seattle and we hope to return in the future.

Hotel check in was good and lady who did this was very nice and helpful with our questions. Elevators for this 20 floor place were fast and responsive. Room was clean and nice with big windows, lock safe, big tv and coffee pot. Also refrig. Restaurant more of a bar area and eats. But nice with outside terrace area on floor 5. They seemingly get groups in here for corporate cocktail events. I understand the draw because of the terrace but it forces them to consider seating if you come just for a drink or to just lounge. But, the staff works real well in dealing with this. Area has a lot of choices for dinner and just a few blocks from Pike Market. Overall, I think we chose a good place when we booked.

I am a huge UK Seattle Mariners fan and this year was my 8th consecutive year heading into Seattle to watch the M's. This year for 9 nights and 7 games of baseball. My stay for 2019 was June 15 - 24. My previous 7 visits my hotel of choice was around the corner on University Street but this time I decided a change was in order. This time it was The Motif. From check-in to check-out my stay was thoroughly enjoyable. After a 10 hour flight to check-in during the afternoon wine tasting session was heaven. Before heading to my room I relaxed with a nice cool glass of wine in the lobby to start my stay in just the right way and mood. My room was faultless. Plenty of space, comfortable queen bed, coffee machine and a fridge with bottled water each day. I was fully aware about the additional taxes or charges added to the daily room rate and to be honest the water came in so handy during my stay and I didn't find the charges too severe. The bathroom was also spacious with just a large walk-in shower but large sink and mirror. The outdoor patio bar on the 5th floor (where my room was) was also visited a number of times and offered good quality food at good value with a large choice of drinks and cocktails. A great place to relax any time of a warm PNW summer day or night. Frolik their restaurant also offered a nice atmosphere and good value. The staff throughout every area of the hotel were efficient and very friendly and I couldn't ask for anything more from them. I found the atmosphere at The Motif just to my liking. Lively, friendly with a bit of everything I like about a hotel when on vacation. The Elephant and Castle pub below the hotel, down steps from either street level or from within the hotel lobby was an excellent additional attraction. It works so well. After night games it stayed open later than the hotel bar so it was so good to chill and watch the game again over a few cold ones. Late night bar snacks are also available here. Seattle offers so much to the visitor and I have seen most of it but baseball is the reason I visit. My trip for 2020 is already being planned and The Motif is definitely my hotel of choice. Just need a winning team now! Go M's!
