I loved staying here. Our room was quiet. It was clean and simple. The shower and bathroom were clean. And the decor was cute and vintage. It was a pleasurable experience for people who like simplicity and hospitality. The front desk attendants were more than courteous and friendly. Sad I missed breakfast.
Stayed here one night while visiting friends who live in the nearby Alki Beach neighborhood of Seattle. The hotel is clean, the staff friendly, and there's a Trader Joe's around the corner if you need to pick up a few snacks/drinks for the room. The rate was relatively decent given the exorbitant cost of Seattle lodging. The Grove is close to a funky neighborhood that includes a great record store (Easy Street Records) It should be added that the nearby Alki Beach waterfront is worth visiting. Who knew Seattle actually had a beach?
This hotel does not appear to dazzle from the looks of the outside, but inside it is very clean, surprisingly comfortable and modern. Neighborhood is very safe (went waking all over after dark and no creepy people). The breakfast was good and the staff was friendly. It is definitely the place to stay in West Seattle, but would work well for visiting downtown as well once the bridge reopens in September. There is also a bus to downtown right from the hotel (the bus bridge is already open). There is sufficient parking (not a lot, but still enough for a packed house). My only complaint was slow internet.
Wow. An affordable hotel in Seattle that really puts the extra care into things to deliver an experience better than some hotels twice as expensive. The desk managers are very helpful and have us great advice for getting around town. It's an older building but they've renovated the rooms to give a clean modern feel. The breakfast included was a nice extra after burning a hole in our pockets seeing the town. Would definitely come back here again.
I had to book last minute and the staff was exceptionally helpful, especially Angie at the front desk. I also want to praise the very polite woman who attended to the breakfast room each morning. The rooms were clean and the location is very convenient for West Seattle attractions and the Alki Beach area.
Good location . Speedy bus into Downtown , or use the free shuttle connecting with a water taxi (pier50) . A short drive or taxi to Alki beach where there are loads of nice restaurants . Beach is great too , with open views to Vashon and the sound . Pleasant and helpful staff . The room was clean , and the beds were comfortable . Although breakfast was very basic it was adequate .
The Grove earns an A+ for value, friendly staff and great continental breakfast. My wife and I were most impressed by the cleanliness and courteous staff and proximity to downtown West Seattle. We would stay there each time we visit our granddaughter, for sure.
The receptionist was very kind and helpful with questions and making sure we had what we needed. Great location for anyone going to be in the Alki Beach area. Rooms were decent and the beds were comfortable.
We have family in West Seattle and the Grove was convenient for a recent visit. Easy parking, basic rooms with two beds, simple access to the area, just a nice operation. We will be back for future visits.
This spot would also work well for a SEATAC layover. We rented a car (cheaper than taxi etc) and were at the hotel in 15 minutes. The Grove was a very adequate base for visiting our cousins who live in West Seattle. WE enjoyed local distilleries and brew pubs, had delicious banh mi and walked the promenade at Alki Beach. The Grove looks way cuter/boutiquey on the website than it is in person. Essentially it is a clean motel with cute wallpaper - but the location and room rate cannot be beaten. I would stay here again.
