We stayed one night in this charming B&B while visiting family nearby. We chose it for its location and the fact that it had a Tesla destination charger -- just let them know you'll need it as they need to turn it on for you. We appreciated contactless check-in during COVID. We brought takeout dinner back to the room which was a little awkward as there was no dining furniture in the room and the downstairs dining area was being used for a private function. Breakfast the next day was yummy and plentiful.

This place actually found us - we were visiting family in the area and they had seen it on walks in the neighborhood. Both the neighborhood and the home are spectacular; comfortable in the genteel, quiet manner of 100+ years ago (or what we imagine that would be). Would be fascinating to know how the original residents of the home lived. They did us a favor by building it, and the subsequent owners and restorers added to it by rebuilding so carefully. Our room was on the top floor with a great view of the street and of downtown Seattle. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom floor heated (important in February!!) and the shower roomy and hot. All the rooms are decorated for the period and done beautifully. The sun room is a work of art! Wish we could sit there forever. Breakfast included our favorite items and there were also 24-hour sweets and every kind of hot drinks and chilled bottled water. Just lovely. And Ana, the owner, is friendly and delightful. We will be back!

I can't tell you how glad I am that we found this place! It is such a beautiful and comfortable place to stay in Seattle. The mansion is lovely, with plenty of common rooms for guests to enjoy. The bedrooms are all unique and perfectly appointed. Breakfast is excellent - everything one could want. The location is ideal, in a wonderful neighborhood, and easy for parking, or to use public transportation. Best of all is the hospitality of the innkeepers - Brenda and Ana. They could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Just a great place overall. Can't say enough about it.

Our experience at the Shafer Baillie Mansion finely balanced the awareness of being in a very historic space with the feeling of being able to relax as completely as if we were at home. We'd chosen not to stay there twice because we thought it would be stuffy, but it was not. Our host, Ana, was friendly & genuinely helpful with whatever we needed, yet not at all intrusive. She has restored this home with professional attention to detail. Nothing was glitchy or tacky. The bathroom had modern, fully functional fixtures and a nice walk-in shower, but retained the feel of the house's era. We loved The Capitol Hill room a lot -- the decor & the comfortable bed -- but might try for one of the 3rd floor rooms next time since the view, on a clear day, might be better. Since staying in a mansion with a delicious continental-style breakfast was way less than any hotel room in Seattle, we will definitely stay there every time we visit our daughter. In fact, Shafer Baillie will make it possible to visit her more often! So nice that they have rooms that accommodate children & that they welcome children!

I was in Seattle for a class that was held near the airport, and so stayed there for 5 nights before moving north for one night into the Capitol Hill area to experience a little more of Seattle. My only regret in choosing the SB Mansion is that I only had the one evening and had to leave on an early flight home the next morning, missing what I have read is a fabulous breakfast. Based on my experience I cannot imagine the breakfast falling short of fabulous, because everything about the mansion was over the top perfect! My stay in the Southeast Ballroom offered antiques and a huge, cozy bed, views of the surrounding mansions and autumnal color through the leaded casement windows as well as heated bathroom floors! I enjoyed a coffee and chocolate covered biscotti in the sun drenched conservatory as fortification before my trek up the street to Volunteer and Interlaken Parks. It was also just a short walk down to the many restaurants, bars and shops on 15th Ave making my search for dinner an easy one. Returning to the stone lions that guard the entrance and entering the beautiful opulence of the mansion was just an incredible way to end an evening in Seattle, or anywhere for that matter. Finally, from being met personally upon my arrival and getting a brief tour of the public rooms and my room to the yummy breakfast made available for my early departure the following morning, I felt like every effort was made to make my short stay as enjoyable as possible. And I must honestly say I am looking for a reason to return to Seattle so I can enjoy a longer stay in this beautiful piece of of Seattle history.
