The location is perfect. Literally across the street from the markets. There's a Target next door in case you're missing something. The staff are friendly and a joy to speak with. I can't say much for the food (There are a million restaurants in the area I ate at instead) but the communal kitchen is nice. The common areas are spacious as well. With covid going on, all they ask is that the mask stays on unless you're eating or in your bunk. There was a sign offering $5 your night if you consistently keep your mask on. Which is easy enough. Everyone seemed to follow the rules as well. The areas were clean and well maintained. The bunks are nice. They have a fan, outlets, and a privacy curtain. Can't really ask for more. The mattress was comfy too. Honestly, do yourself a favor and stay here.

Exceptionally clean hostel - the cleanest one I've ever stayed in. The bathrooms are very spacious and showers work great. You have a sink in your own room and there are curtains for every bed for extra privacy. Staff was exceptionally nice and friendly and I was able to meet some awesome people and make friends during my stay. Breakfast is actually pretty decent! Location is unbeatable and I would come back and stay here in a heartbeat if I ever return to Seattle.

Location Location Location! This is right across from Pike Place Market, so if you're coming to Seattle to do touristy things downtown, are taking public transportation, want a basic communal environment, and don't want to pay a lot for it, this is THE place to stay. I spent 3 nights here as a solo traveler and found the Green Tortoise staff to be friendly and helpful. The place could use a cosmetic update (like new carpet and bathroom upgrades), but I found it well worth the price despite its dated look. The bunk beds were comfortable. Loved the curtains for privacy. The rooms did not have AC but the fans were enough. Storage lockers under the beds were huge. Bring a lock. Towels are included. There was a short wait for the showers depending on time of day, but the water was always hot and the bathrooms were clean... it seemed like an army of staff swooped in multiple times a day to keep things sparkling. The lounge/dining area was pretty big... best view of the Market sign is from here. There was free breakfast too (yay!) or you can cook in their kitchen. And although I had my own plans, I really appreciated that this place creates a community by hosting events like pub crawls, movie nights, etc.

Stayed at Green Tortoise for 3 nights and had a great stay. You can't beat the location. It's walkable to the major attractions and a Target and Walgreens should you need supplies. The rooms were small and a little bit musty (6 to a room) but it was clean with good amount of storage space. I also never found noise from other parts of the hostel to be an issue. There was one night where there was karaoke, but I couldn't hear anything in the rooms. The privacy curtains were a nice touch. Showers/toilet were individual stalls and were clean and spacious. Staff were kind and helpful and the breakfast at the hostel was a welcome start every morning. Would recommend. (Bring a pair of bathroom flip-flops and lock.)

Great central location near to the key sights and sounds, helpful staff, free breakfast provided and clean rooms and showers. Liked the fact each bunk had its own curtain and a semblance of privacy All you need really for an easy stay in Seattle.
