Hotel Sorrento garners praise for its accommodating and polite staff, though concerns with training are noted. The hotel's cleanliness and old-world charm are appreciated by guests who enjoy its classic ambiance. While its location is convenient for some, others find it less central. The rooms receive mixed feedback; they are considered charming by many, but some point out maintenance issues. The cozy amenities, such as the fireplace lounge, are a highlight, but guests suggest improvements like bathroom hooks. Value is a point of contention, with several travelers questioning the price-to-quality ratio.

I have long considered Hotel Sorrento to be a home away from home on my many business trips to Seattle. Since covid shut down business travel as well as most leisure travel since March, I have really missed my friends at Sorrento. Was SO happy to be back last weekend for a night during a family road trip.

If you're in the pacific northwest and want to get away for a few nights after so many months at home, I highly suggest you stay at the Sorrento. Shannon is the GM, and she and I have become friends over the past couple of years. She has brought in some awesome new people to help run the show since reopening, and we were treated like royalty.

I had forgotten how comfortable the beds are, the squishy pillows, the marble bath. And new for us and for the Sorrento was their new Stella restaurant. We had a beautiful room service dinner, and an awesome brunch the next morning outside on the patio.

They have also taken lots of precautions to make guests feel super safe - sanitizer everywhere, a door seal indicating the room had been sterilized, delicious room coffee in individual packaging, temperature check at the door.

Please visit these awesome people at this beautiful property!

Scott - a very frequent customer!

My wife and I spent a long weekend in Seattle at the Hotel Sorrento. We had stayed at the Hotel several years before and loved it. We decided to see how it stood the test of time and CoVid-19. I am so pleased to report, though there have been changes adapting to CoVid, it is still a delightful, historic hotel with all the amenities you could ask for, particularly an upbeat, knowledgeable staff.

The evening we arrived we dined at the hotel's restaurant. Stella. This found us in a tent on the patio, with the hotel's lovely façade as our backdrop. The food and service was excellent. I would recommend opening with their Old Fashioned :) and dining on the Lamb Shank. My wife enjoyed the Branzino After dinner we spent time in the Fireside Room sipping on Irish Coffees that compare favorably to those at Buena Vista.

The décor is of its era in the best way possible. The room was spotless and elegant

The Front Desk team and the Bellmen were extremely helpful with their knowledge of the dining establishments around Seattle. They were also an excellent resource on using the Washington State Ferry System to visit Bainbridge Island.

We look forward to a return visit

My boyfriend and I live in Seattle, but we wanted to do a haunted hotel vacation around WA. We started here and stayed on the 4th floor (with the most “activity”). Nothing spooky happened except all of the times I woke up in the middle of the night and was scared I might see something standing near me, but never did. On another note, the hotel’s new restaurant “STELLA.” was STELLAR! Amazing cocktails, service, and food. They have smaller “fancy” portions, but my boyfriend and I ordered a few dishes just so we could try more/share, and it ended up being perfect! Also, we felt very safe/clean during COVID. They checked our temps at the door and had plenty of hand sanitizer stations everywhere. The rooms were also sanitized. Including the electric water kettle. The bed was super comfy and the comforter was heaven! I wish I could have taken it with me. The shower has the multiple shower head system that gives you multiple angles of water stream. And while we didn’t use the TV in the room (we watched scary movies on our laptop) it was quite large and looked very new/nice! If I ever want another fancy staycation, this is the place to go!

hotel is attractive although my room smelled funny and it is noisy. on the second day I left my room very clean with a 5$ tip for the housekeeping, when i returned that night at 9:30pm i found all my pillows on the floor and a dirty soiled yellow cleaning rag on the middle of my bed. it was really gross.

We chose the Hotel Sorrento because the setting seemed perfect for our intimate wedding with 20 people in the Presidential suite. However we underestimated how exceptional the experience would actually turn out to be! The staff anticipated any potential glitches, swept away any messes we made as we set up the room, and made everyone feel like we were special and valued throughout the entire experience. We are profoundly grateful for this precious memory thanks to this staff!

My partner and I were looking for a spooky place to celebrate our anniversary and were excited to visit the Hotel Sorrento. I enjoyed the history, aesthetic, and overall vibe of this hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive, especially in helping me book a room (and also later adjusting my reservation ). The location is nice - still pretty noisy from city sounds, but it's a little tucked away and near some great cafes and restaurants. I'm only docking a point because while charming, some of the amenities are really outdated and worn - such as the heating/ac units in the rooms, lack of screens on the windows, and the couch in our room was really worn and broken on one arm. I still think that this hotel is a great value for the location and what it is, and I would consider staying again if I'm in that area.

We were so happy with every aspect of our stay at the Hotel Sorrento. From the valet, to the front desk, to the bell hops, to the room cleaners, to the restaurant and room service, all staff were helpful and kind and efficient. The hotel was at less than full capacity due to the reduced travel during the pandemic, but nonetheless we were treated as valued and respected guests. When we needed a chair switched in our room to accommodate a special need, it was done quickly and cheerfully.
The COVID precautions were carefully observed by the hotel. I hope when you read this review, the need for such strict attention to detail will be past, but I think it speaks volumes for the hotel, staff, and management that they would be so careful.
The building is old, and charming. It reminded me of staying at the Plaza in New York, but with a west coast signature.
We chose the Sorrento for its closeness to Virginia Mason and the presence of air conditioning. They do have a medical discount rate if you need it, but the whole experience was exceptional on its own.
I highly recommend this hotel and its staff.

Although we found the staff excellent in all ways, the poor hotel feels neglected and shabby. Our first visit to the Sorrento was almost 30 years ago. At that time the rooms glowed with a lovely buttery yellow, and felt welcoming and cozy. The linens were crisp, and we would return from an evening to turn down service and chocolates on the bed. This visit we were in a room with an appalling color of a very dar chocolate/purple. The heating system was nearly broken, the carpeting looked like it had never been properly installed. It was dark and dusty (but how could a cleaning person even see?) Those may seem like small things, but it was always a place to go for special occasions. I don't think we'll return, and instead enjoy our memories of the glory days.

We had a pleasant 3 days in this remodeled place with a classy old days feel. Convenient happy hour downstairs with good wine and we liked the house salad. Wonderfully helpful front desk. Valets were super quick to get our car to us each time and they delivered our luggage to and from our room.

I just have to let the Trip Advisor family know how amazing this property is. We’d scheduled a weekend getaway just as Covid was starting to bring down Seattle. We had a non refundable reservation for 2 nights via booking.com and it had already been charged. Booking worked with us for a cancellation but more importantly so did the Hotel Sorrento. We received a full refund. You guys ROCK. Can’t wait to see you when we all get back to the new normal!
