I booked a room here for three nights as a tourist. I love the vintage feel of the building's decor, as well as the convenient location that's close enough to majority of the tourist attractions in the area. I wasn't quite fond of the room's refrigerator (it was pretty old and loud) and the creaky floors. It was hard to walk late at night to go to the bathroom (even on my tiptoes), without the fear waking up your roommates. Other than that, the room and the facility itself was kept reasonably clean and the staff was accomodating and polite enough to answer our questions and help with luggage when needed. Now here's the best part: I'd like to commend their supervisor for being so gracious and non-hostile when I found about a price discrepancy on my credit card, days after I had already checked out. It turns out it was my own mistake, the issue was quickly resolved, but she handled my "complaint" with tact and utter professionalism all the way, while blaming nobody for this predicament. This is what I'll remember the most about my stay at Marqueen!

So, let me preface this by stating that if you are looking for maximum comfort and modern amenities, this is probably not the right hotel for you. This hotel is perfect for a budget traveler who wants a great location for exploring Seattle without paying a premium. Lower Queen Anne is an excellent base of operations if you’re interested in having access to Seattle Center, Pike Place, and the waterfront. I lived a couple of blocks from here for years and I absolutely love the neighborhood. Parking in the nearby area can be very challenging at night or on the weekends, so figure that you’ll probably need to pay for valet, park in a pay lot, or walk several blocks. Public transportation is highly accessible here though, so use it if you can.

The hotel is in a quaint little historic building, with a great little lounge. Not packed with amenities, but honestly who cares when the neighborhood is the amenity? There is NO ELEVATOR!!! Keep this in mind if you need a first floor room, as they’re limited. The rooms themselves are HUGE and come with a kitchenette and a full-size fridge. Really great if you want to grab some groceries at Metro Market and eat a little cheaper. But there are also tons of (eclectic, affordable) dining options within a 2-block radius.

Lastly, the details. Yes this building has original 1930s plumbing. But the water does get nice and hot and there was decent water pressure. Will you have to exercise a lot of patience with the faucet to get the temp just right? Yes, you will. Are the finishes in the room perfect? Definitely not. Plan on turning a blind eye to some shoddy paint and tile work. The old wooden floors WILL squeak. Be prepared. Some of the bulbs in the room are blue daylight bulbs, so keep your sunglasses handy.

Surprisingly, the towels are very soft and plush, and there are robes in the closet. The bed is comfortable enough, although a little springy. For a single night stay, I had no issue with this, but for someone doing an extended stay or who has back issues, maybe pack a sleeping pad or something. I also had no problem with noise even though we had a first floor room, but I recommend bringing your earplugs just in case.

All in all, it’s a great little hotel if you’re trying to stay on a budget! Will definitely be back.

Dear Jayy655, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thorough review of the hotel and the neighborhood. I will readily agree that some of our bathrooms need some work and we have starting redo the tub/showers in our guest rooms. We will also be adding some additional/new furniture, area rug, and other amenities in the first quarter of 2022. I think some things like the mattress are a very personal preference as many of our guests have told us they got a great night sleep. Overall, it appears you enjoyed your stay as you provided us with five bubble rating. I'm delighted you will stay with us again and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Thank you, Patty Davis, General Manager

We recently stayed here for a couple of nights. We chose this hotel due to the proximity to a tour company we had booked with. The front desk staff were very friendly. They gave us a great upgraded room as we were staying on a first responder discounted rate, as well as great recommendations for things that were open close by. The location was great. Super close to a supermarket, bars, restaurants, and the Space Needle.

The room was a bit old and outdated, but it's a older hotel. It appears to be an apartment building that was converted into a hotel. We had plenty of room though, which was nice. We were also up on the third floor so it was quiet and away from the street traffic a bit.

Our biggest complaint was an experience we had with the valet. At certain times, he would seem to disappear for quite a while, which is slightly inconvenient if you want to get your car to make it somewhere on time. At one point, we waited for about 15 minutes. Finally the front desk agent said she would go get our car because we were trying to make it to a dinner reservation. She covered for the valet saying he was doing something else.

It turned out that something else he was doing was smoking pot. He had the keys to our car so the front desk agent couldn't get it. When he finally pulled around in our car, he got out and wreaked of pot. And our car smelled of it as well since he had driven it-likely right after smoking. We didn't super appreciate that to say the least.

Dear Morgan M, Thank you for taking the time to share your thorough feedback regarding your stay with us. I'm certainly shocked to hear about your experience with our bellman/valet team member. That is not acceptable and I will investigate that immediately. I apologize for not seeing your review sooner. I am happy to hear that our front desk team members were friendly during your stay. We are a historic landmark that did serve as apartments at one point. I hope if you are in Seattle in the future you will give us another opportunity to welcome you to the city. Thank you, Patty Davis, General Manager

The first night I stayed at this hotel I was bitten repeatedly on my feet and ankles, about 6-8 times. I do not know what caused this, but I woke up to my alarm in discomfort. I did speak with the receptionist in the evening and she was somewhat sympathetic, and said she would talk to a manager. I have my suspicions bed bugs might have caused this, and I'm fairly sure my feet were in the bed and it was not a mosquito, but I have no evidence to prove this, I looked under the mattress. I stayed two more nights without getting more bites but suffered from paranoia about being bitten.

My hotel guest room was very large but sparsely furnished. The hotel desperately needs to be renovated, it reminds of an old apartment I lived in, everything is shabby. The Mediterranean Inn a couple of blocks down the street is a lot nicer and I actually paid substantially less to stay there a month ago. Staying in Lower Queen Anne is a good location, as the Seattle Center is walking distance, and there are many independent cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby.

It's hard with COVID-19 to say what to expect as a price for hotels these days, but I paid the most to stay at The Marqueen and it was the worst of all, the Staybridge Suites Fremont and Crowne Plaza Seattle are a lot nicer, I stayed at both in 2020, and at the time they were cheaper. I did not get bitten in bed at other hotels in Seattle. I'm now worried my suitcase may bring bed bugs back home.

Dear Rob, As soon as you reported the issue to the front desk our housekeeping manager inspected the mattress and box spring and found no evidence of any critters. We cover our mattresses in a sealed protected cover to avoid just what you described as we take this kind of issue very seriously. The fact that you stayed in the same room for two more nights makes me believe you weren't too worried. We agree that the rooms could use some additional comforts like a nice sitting area. We will be doing just that later this year along with some nice area rugs. We are a wonderful historic hotel with lots of charm and maybe it isn't the right fit for you. I'm sorry that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. Thank you for staying with us and I hope in the future you will find accommodations that are better suited to your needs Thank you, Patty Davis, General Manager

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a historical building and is full of charm. It does not have an elevator so if stairs are a problem call ahead for a first floor room if available. We were on the third floor and had lots to carry but had no problem carrying our luggage up however they do have a valet that is able to help you. The furnishings in the room are dated but in good condition. The hotel was kept very clean. Each room appears to have a kitchen. They come equipped with plates, bowls, cups, mugs, silverware. There is a microwave and full sized fridge with grocery stores and drug stores nearby to pick up food to bring back to your room to save on costs. Our room was spacious and dog friendly. There is a park across the street for walking your dog. There is no on site parking but there is valet parking or street parking which is time limited so you cannot park there all day. The location is perfect for walking to the Space Needle, museums, ice rink to watch NHL hockey, or even to Pike Place Market if you are up for a longer walk. I loved this place and will plan to stay her again when visiting Seattle.

I fell in love with this hotel from the first look :) The hotel build in 1918, and it's keeping all that charm and the atmosphere of that great time. The room was spacious with a sitting area and a great space for a kitchenette with some eating area as well with everything you need. All together it's so charming , and it's definitely not that kind of the hotel you sleep for one night and you totally forget about it on the next day. I want to come back to Seattle, and I want to stay in this particular hotel for sure! I would like to thank all the staff who was extremally helpful and professional, and I would like to tell a special thanks to Christian at the front desk who was just awesome. Also the hotel is offering a wallet parking for $30 per day which is very reasonable as the street parking is very limited, and a day parking near by is also $30 down the street. We checked out at 11 am , but we had our car kept at the secure parking until 3 pm which was just great for us. All together I got very excited about the area ant the hotel in particular, so I strongly recommend this hotel.

During the Great Seattle Heat Wave of 2021, I booked a room at Marqueen to escape my scorching apartment and find shelter in the comforts only a hotel could provide. Marqueen was there for me during my time in need, and not just myself but my dog too! The king room was very spacious and I was surprised to see a fully separate kitchenette with a full size fridge. The A/C was amazing and cold throughout our stay. The staff were very kind and followed mask protocols per the hotel policy/CDc guidelines. I would absolutely stay here again.

Dear TravelingCosmo12, I love the title of your review "Lovely Stay", as that kind of says it all. I'm happy you were able to get our of your home and into ours and enjoy our air conditioned rooms. We also love dogs and I'm not sure if you met Max while you were staying with us as he is my little black Poodle Mix that wanders around the hotel say hello to everyone. Should another heat wave comes our way or you need accommodations for family or friends, I hope you will think of us. Thank you, Patty Davis, General Manager

For those seeking a historical stay, this is it. Rooms are spacious and full of what seemed to be original flooring, doors and eating areas. The floors creaked when we walked on them and shower/bath was like a puzzle. Three knobs: one knob turned water on/off and the more you turned, water seemed to get hotter but then was too hot so we had to turn it off, turning the other knobs did nothing. Room was large with a sitting area that had chairs that were more for looks than comfort and a little on the rickety side. There was a kitchenette with full size fridge, a coffee maker and dining table. The bed was comfortable. The closet was also the utility room and if I was a kid, I'd be scared of that room since it was dark and creepy. :) Staff was friendly and helpful at all times. I recommend this hotel for those seeking old town charm and not spending much time in the room. We visited for a long weekend, it met our needs since we were out and about exploring. The location is ideal for those wanting to watch a hockey game, visit the Space Needle or hop on the monorail to get to downtown / Pikes Market.

GINayner, Thank you for your review! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your weekend with us while you were sightseeing in the city. We do our best to preserve the old-world feel of the 1920's, and I'm glad you found it to be charming. Later this year, we're planning on doing a hotel-wide refreshment as well. We plan to replace the guestroom furniture and update the bathrooms. I hope we'll get the opportunity to welcome you back again after the project is complete.

The MarQueen is a beautiful, Classy Hotel.
Built around 1912, the charm of this era remains.
Marble entry stairs, Gorgeous wooden entry doors, a grand staircase, and period appropriate decor.
Our corner King room appeared to have been an apartment, as it had a large space with the king bed ( room enough for 2 kings),and several side tables. A sitting room was adjacent with a wide cased opening, and an 8' hideabed.
There was a kitchen ( cabinets, sink, full refer, and table with chairs), that opened off the mail room. The bathroom had a claw floot tub, pedestal sink and what appeared to be the original hex tile flooring. The main room had original oak flooring. Lastly the A/C was quite cold.
Staff went above and beyond to assist in making our staff perfect! Offering dinning suggestions, and reviews, transportation options, even giving advice as to where neighborhood parking was available.
We will stay at the MarQueen again, and again.

Dear Diane0345, It makes us so happy to see such a wonderful review of our hotel and your experience. Our hotel was originally built to house blacksmiths that Ford hired and trained as engineers to build the Model T. They lived here and trained on the Ford assembly line that was located near Lake Union. It was later used as an apartment and we kept the same layout when it was converted to a hotel over 22 years ago. I'm also glad to read that our staff provided you with wonderful service. We pride ourselves on providing great guest experiences every day. The best part is you will continue to stay with us again and again. We look forward to welcoming you back. If you enjoy a hotel with charm and character and a small kitchen, the MarQueen is for you. It felt like stepping back in time. The staff was friendly, professional and accommodating, the room was clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious, and I really appreciated having a small kitchen in there. This hotel is especially great if you are going on a mountaineering trip with Alpine Ascents International. They are literally 2 blocks away. There was also a wonderful grocery store nearby and a great restaurant if you like Cajun food - "Toulouse Petit Kitchen and Lounge."

Dear Voyage823333, Thank you for taking the time to let us know how we are doing. As much as you like staying with us, we thoroughly enjoy all the climbers from Alpine Accents that stay with us. I'm delighted to see you liked the rooms and especially the kitchenette. Since our hotel used to be apartments they are larger than most hotel rooms and every room has a kitchenette with an eat in nook. As you noted, we are also close to many great restaurants, grocery stores, and walking distance to great attractions. We also have The Tin Lizzie Lounge which will be offering food soon along with our great craft cocktails. You must check it out next time you stay with us. I hope your climb was a success and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you, Patty Davis, General Manager
