Detailed Reviews
We stayed one night before our cruise at the Hotel Monaco. We were given our room on the tenth floor which was high enough to negate any street noise, albeit we had a view of a nearby office building. The room was a little smaller than we expected but well furnished and very clean. A fridge, coffee maker, and big screen T.V. were all we needed for a comfortable stay overnight. The lobby and even the hallways were decorated in a Mediterranean motif, hence the name Monaco. The restaurant on premises looked abandoned on a Saturday night, but we already had made the decision to walk to the waterfront where there are several touristy seafood restaurants. We enjoyed the location of the hotel right in the middle of everything. After an incredibly steep walk down to dinner we hopped a cab back to our room. The whole staff is very friendly and efficient from the desk clerk to the parking valet. The usually useless resort fee of $25 could be used for a few snack items in the lobby which took the sting out of paying it. In my opinion, the hotel deserves a four-star rating because it meets all the criteria with it's location, decor, quality of furnishings, excellent service, and a fairly high-end restaurant. But no breakfast service ( at my expense or complimentary) keeps it from a five-star rating. A very good beginning to our seven day cruise to Alaska.

The Hotel Monaco in Seattle was a lovely property with comfortable and clean rooms. The beds (especially the Frette linens) were lovely and luxurious. The room itself was a retreat after a day of walking around Seattle. Cleanliness was also a big thing, even with limited housekeeping, the rooms were cleaned well and we felt safe while staying during Covid.
Location-wise, you centrally located if you want to sightsee in downtown Seattle. The property is a five to ten minute walk away from Pike Place Market or the waterfront and there are plenty of restaurants within that radius.
Pro tip if you're not accustomed to traversing steep city hills: Walk down Fourth and then turn left a few blocks down to get to the Market. Walk back up to Fourth and get back this way as well. The hills themselves were fine for our group, but can be tough for some.
All the people working across the property were friendly and responsive; any request was handled in a timely manner. David, the Front Desk Manager, deserves a shout out for helping resolve a billing issue promptly when I called post trip. It was much appreciated.
We'd happily stay at this location again.

Arriving from the UK after a 10 hour flight, we had a smooth check in and and were soon in our room. However, the room was close to lifts and the noise within our room was immediately apparent.
We requested a change of room, and the friendly lady at reception relocated us to a quiet room.
Similar to many other hotels at this time, there is no daily cleaning of the rooms but additional towels and supplies are available on request. I accept a level of caution around Covid but at some point this starts to feel like hotels making savings whilst continuing to charge clients at normal rates.
The hotel was clean, the room was well appointed and the bed comfortable. Complimentary early evening drinks (wine) are available at reception between 5pm - 7pm which was a nice touch.
The hotel is well located for attractions, restaurants and the waterfront area. It’s a reasonably steep slope down to the waterfront, so returning to the hotel on foot is a good workout.
Food is available from the adjoining Outlier restaurant, which served the most fantastic burgers. There are some very good restaurants a short walk from the hotel for those looking for a broader choice of cuisine.
Very pleasant stay.

“A little backstory: my husband and I were a little sleep-deprived and punchy the night we checked in, and somehow, we referenced the Big Bird "we ride at dawn, b****es!" meme (representing a brain on three hours of sleep), which then lead to chatting with Antares (Front Desk Manager, and an absolutely lovely person) about Jim Henson and telling some interesting stories about him (I read the Brian Jay Jones biography a few years ago; I recommend).
Fast forward to the following night, when we were pleasantly surprised by a gift of a trio of red wine samples, a trio of chocolates, and a card from Antares featuring Kermit the Frog, also enjoying some wine. None of it was necessary, all of it was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated.
Muppets aside, I cannot say enough good things about the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Every member of the staff we encountered was incredibly friendly and helpful (they even acquired some cardboard and scissors to help me make a firmer "frame" to protect some vintage paper ephemera my husband bought and we needed to transport). The breakfasts we had in Outlier were delicious, the location was convenient, our suite was spacious, immaculate, and comfortable, and I even enjoyed the bath products so much, I took photos so I could remember what I used and acquire them for myself.
I travel a lot, and I'm an experienced traveler. Nice hotels are harder to find these days, but not it's not impossible. Kimpton Hotel Monaco made our stay *personal*, which is incredibly rare. One of our best travel experiences ever, and certainly one of the most memorable.”

Location is great, room (and the hotel in general) was very clean. Beds were comfy and I appreciated the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash (good quality product) and in refillable containers (eco-friendly). Staff was very nice for check in, check out, and holding our bags. My only complaint was the $15 credit we got every night. The bar was closed when we were there (COVID) so I had to use it on the snack bar every night. I also couldn’t “pool” the credits (we stayed 3 nights) bur instead had to spend $15 each day. Seems silly, given COVID they should be more flexible with how this works since the bar is closed. Regardless, I would stay at this location again, I love the Kimpton brand.

Good Day Garfieldluvr, Thank you for staying with us and sharing your experience. I am glad you found our beds to be comfortable and that enjoyed our bathroom amenity products! Good to hear that you had great service interactions with our Front Services Team as well. We just recently re-opened our bar and restaurant (Outlier) currently on limited hours of operation. We have plans to continue to open up more as we hope and expect to see more travelers coming into Seattle. I appreciate your feedback about the daily $15 credit as part of the Guest Amenity Fee program. In our continuing efforts to improve the guest experience we will review and action accordingly. Have a great day and hope to see you again in the not too distant future!

Kimpton Hotels always make an effort to make you feel like it is your home away from home. The hotel staff was very friendly and quick to offer suggestions as we checked in and the lobby was a great meeting place to meet friends or family with comfortable couches, seating areas, and a fireplace. The decor is fun and warm with thoughtful amenities like yoga mats in the rooms, luxurious, wall-mounted toiletries to reduce plastic waste of single-use bottles. The hotel is also a fairly short walk or Uber to Pike Place or Symphony Hall. The only downside to this property is that they don't have coffee in the rooms, only in the lobby. But in Seattle coffee is abundant so if that isn't enough for you before you walk out the door there are at least 3 coffee shops as soon as you leave the lobby.

I’ve been a great fan of Kimptons, but this one disappointed. During my two night stay I was never once greeted by hotel staff when coming & going-they never looked up from their computers. In addition, unlike two other four star hotels I’ve stayed at in the area in the past month, this Kimpton offered NO servicing of the room. I had to request clean towels which were dumped in the sink, with the dirty ones left behind. I appreciate the pandemic constraints, but other hotels are doing a better job of guest service.

Gwen B - We do appreciate your loyalty and thank you for staying with us. I must say I was disappointed to read your comments regarding never being greeted by the team. I can assure you this has been addressed as we want to provide all our guest with that warm welcome hospitality that we are know for. As for housekeeping we do offer stayover service upon request at this point due to the pandemic and I have reviewed this with the team. Thank you once again and would love to welcome you back again soon.

I booked this hotel after a ton of research and we were not disappointed. In fact, upon check-in I had completely forgotten that we upgraded to a suite for just a few extra bucks per night. We had a very early flight from the East coast and our suite was ready at 11 am. The room and hotel were extremely clean. Décor was fun and most importantly, the bed was so comfortable. On the weekends Taylor was the only person working the front desk and it was too busy to have just one employee there, esp. during social hour when he also had to serve drinks. Then during the week there were three people working and the hotel was not as busy. Colin who worked the door was extremely helpful with providing directions, recommendations, etc. Would absolutely stay here again.
Pros:
Good location, close to light rail though up a hill
Cleanliness
Comfortable bed
Toiletries smelled really nice.
Nice, helpful staff
Plenty of outlets and USB ports
Needs room key to use elevator (good safety feature)
Cons:
Need a safety bar in shower b/c getting in and out can be slippery.
No fan in bathroom
“Resort fee” was utterly ridiculous. Didn’t receive bottled water and the other “amenities” included in this were things that are typically standard at most hotels.
Rooms on lower floors in the front will probably have traffic noise. We were on the 6th floor but had a sound machine so there were no issues.

We stayed here 2 nights and another hotel 3 nights. Kimpton Monaco was supposed to be our "splurge" nights stay. For the price we paid we were very disappointed.
The staff was kind. The room was clean but not up to par for the price we paid. One cabinet knob was barely attached . Bathroom sink faucets didn't work right. Bad water pressure in shower. One night the restaurant closed earlier. Inconvenient because we had planned our meals and timing of according to the time they were supposed to be open until.
Only option to watch anything besides regular TV was to buy movies for $19.99!! The less expensive "non-splurge" hotel had chromecast capabilities to watch any of my phone movie apps.
They were both centrally located to downtown. But other hotel was far supreme.
One thing Monaco did better was the bed, it was very, very comfy!

This is the worst hotel where I have stayed in my life. This is my third night of five I booked and the room has not yet been cleaned despite multiple requests for it. Amazing how a hotel can charge over 300usd per night and not be a le to clean a room (no towels, toilet paper, Kleenex, etc). Everytime my wife and I complain with a a guy called Taylor from the front desk seems as if we were asking something very fancy or strange and he just says that he puts our room on a list for been cleaned but that something happens beyond his control and that the room cannot be cleaned. Unbelievable! We are members of IHG but are deeply dissapointed. Avoid this hotel.

Hi, I think you could check the photos in tripadvisor.
Although most bathroom are with a tub, they do have some rooms with walk-in showers, what you need to do is ask them and book. After booking the room, call them to confirm one more time on special request.
Sometimes they have special room rates that come with a $1 Continental Breakfast. They do not have a complimentary breakfast like Holiday Inn. They do however have a wonderful restaurant in their hotel that serves a delicious breakfast called Outlier. Their chicken & waffles and avocado dungeness crab toast was to die for.
The gnawh2 folks answered the distance from ports to hotel question.
As to what to do, it sort of depends. I go to Seattle for business a few times a year so I stick to the things I don't have to drive too far to get to. The last time I brought my wife and we had a great time.
If it were me, (depending on weather) I would of course see Pikes Market and spend some time there shopping at the market and enjoying the views from the grassy areas as well as noshing on the many delights they offer in the market. The European (Polish?) bakery near Starbucks is delicious. You can walk from the Monaco to Pikes, BTW.
My wife and I enjoyed the Argosy Harbor tour on that same day. Great way to get a feel for where things are along the coastline of the city and you get all the fun stories about history etc.Only about an hour(ish) tour so you can do both the Market and tour in a day for sure. We like to shop so we hit the mall on the way back to the hotel. A good deal of walking, but not exhausting.
We also did a Viator wine tour that was awesome. They even stop at a chocolate "factory" on the way back from Snoqualmie Falls. Tour stops at a few winers including Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery where you are fed a boxed lunch. Don't forget to try the hard cider at one of the wineries (if you stop at the ones we did).
Long day, but well worth it. If I had only two days that is what I would do. BTW the Italian restaurant just up the street from the Monaco (at another Kimpton) is marvelous. It is walking distance.
