Last year my siblings got together and gave my parents a trip to Alaska for their 50th wedding anniversary. My father has heart problems, so we needed to find a hotel that would really give them personal assistance with luggage, driving, etc. I called Cindy a couple of times before their trip and she was very helpful and I was assured they would be in good hands. My gosh - it was like she was their own personal concierge! They couldn't say enough about the wonderful private cabin, and her catering to their every need. It is now a year later and my mother has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. I felt compelled to write this review now because last nite she woke up from a dream and said these exact words "Alaska was beautiful, and Cindy was wonderful. It was just like heaven will be." Cindy, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for giving my parents an unforgetable experience.

Cindy's Place is a beautiful place to stay in your own private cabin, off the beaten path but not too far from town. We stayed in the Forget Me Not Cabin and it is just picture perfect. Its small and cozy, but very private and in such a lush setting. This particular cabin has its own litte stairway up to it from the parking, so it feels like home. No TV or anything, but it would make a perfect honeymoon or romantic getaway. Cindy brings up yummy fresh baked goods each night, and we pretty much ate everything at night when we got back from town. I almost don't want to give away this secret hideaway. I will definitely be back next year. When I first booked, I was bummed it was a two night minimum; we had so many different places we wanted to try. In the end, we stayed two nights, and wanted a third but the cabin was booked! So plan to stay a while if you can, it's wonderful.

First impression - amazing! When we arrived at our cabin, Columbine, it was more than I expected. Very easy to find the location of the Swaying Spruce and self check in, with parking in front of cabin. Cute little covered porch with furniture and barbeque. Inside it was jam packed with everything you could possibly need. Yes, the space was tight but what do you expect for finding the only accommodations suitable for 5 girls. It was more than perfect. Very nice host - Jesse, who gave us an update on the Chilkoot Trail. The dog was delightful - she laid on the deck and kept an eye on us!

A beautiful little Alaskan cabin located in the bush about 5 minutes out of Skagway. This gives you a nice getaway from the business of the a town invaded by cruise ship operators. The Forget Me Not Cabin comfortably accommodates a couple who doesn't mind being "off the grid" during their stay (no TV, no Internet). The one room cabin with a private bathroom is very charming and cozy. It has a comfortable bed along with a mini kitchen area that has a microwave, small refrigerator, basic kitchen appliances (toaster, kettle, coffee maker) along with plates and cutlery and a small table to eat at. This allowed for us making breakfast in the morning and lunch if you want.

The owners were extremely friendly and very helpful. While they were out when we arrived, they made sure that we got to our cabin without delay and checked in with us upon their return. They were a very engaging family who were willing to share their knowledge of the area to ensure that we saw what was of interest to us.

Overall, a great experience at the Swaying Spruce and we would be delighted to return if we visit the area again.

Well done Kendra and Jesse!

Just a note....they do not take credit cards.

Outstanding cabin and service from Jesse and Kendra. Picked me up from the airport and made sure I had everything I needed. While a small cabin, the Arctic Poppy can easily accommodate two people. The pull-out extra bed and collapsable table provide plenty of room. Great price for the area too. Exactly as advertised on the website, I'll be back again soon.

Charming cabin in the woods that had everything that you would need and yet made you feel like you could enjoy the peace and quiet of Alaska. We had a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again.

My girlfriend and I visited Skagway, the Yukon and Juneau over the span of a week. The Swaying Spruce was the highlight of our stays. The property is beautiful and perfectly located. I spent three summers working in Skagway many years ago and have a very strong understanding of how loud it can be to stay in town and how far away other cabins are from town. The Swaying Spruce is perfect and owned by locals. Bikes are provided making all travel very easy and the cabin exceeded our expectations. Very clean and all you need for an Alaskan experience. Do yourself a favor and experience Skagway from the Swaying Spruce

We stayed 2 nights in Forget me not and one in Arctic Poppy (only one available)
Swaying pines is about 2 km out of town and is a great way to take a break from the downtown cruise ship madness. Whilst it is possible to walk into town, and push bikes are available, your own transport would be an advantage. The forget me not cabin is a good size, has nice facilities including shower & toilet in a separate room, and some nice touches like the hand made curtains. This is a great cabin for a couple that wants to be out of town. If I were asked ‘what would make the experience even better’ I’d simply say that if the bedding were upgraded Forget me not would be really something special.
The online description of Arctic Poppy warns you it’s tiny. When you book, the owners warn you again that it’s tiny. When you arrive, you realise it really is tiny so don’t complain you haven’t been warned. From the small bar fridge and no shower to the single bed with trundle everything has been massaged to fit. All seems ok until you’re ready to sleep, when the logistics of pulling out the trundle mean chairs need to be moved and there’s no free floor space so it’s difficult to move about if there are two of you in the cabin. Having said that – we did manage. If you have the budget, the larger cabins also have nicer fixtures and fittings, more ventilation, are better equipped for cooking and eating and have a shower. In our view, the larger cabins were much better value for money

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in September. Kendra and Jesse are fabulous. We walked to town everyday, great walk, and so nice to be able to come back to our quiet little cabin in the woods. Just what we needed in the middle of our Marine Hwy Ferry travels. We'll definitely be back!

Our cabin was tiny, but had a lot of useful things packed into it (including fridge, microwave and electric hotplate, pans, plates, etc). It was clean, quiet and comfortable and good enough for our one night stay.

They are definitely legit. Kendra asked me to send a cheque or money order, but as I was coming from Australia and could not really work out how to get a cheque in $US she said it was OK for me to pay when I arrived, which I did in cash. They are just a really small family outfit in an out of the way place and haven't set themselves up in that business like way. But that doesn't stop the quality of the service or reduce the quality of the accomodation. It would be worth telling Kendra that having a credit facility would be to their benefit too as I am sure that not having it puts a few people off. If it isn't too hard for you to pay by cheque I urge you to do so. It is a great place and you won't regret it.
