A comfy little inn, bringing together modern conveniences and Skagway history, for a restful night's sleep. Rooms vary in size, but they all feature cable TV, handcrafted quilts, wireless Internet, mini refrigerators, screened windows and ceiling fans. The Continental breakfast has lots of choices. Warm, welcoming, and open year round. Afternoon tea and the cookie jar are always a treat.

Dear Patty, delighted to have you stay with us this last November. John and I always enjoy traveling in the off-season ourselves, when you get a more "local feel" to a community. And ... you get the benefits of a little more TLC because life isn't so hectic. We don't provide shuttle service, but your timing was perfect and John made it happen. In the off season our kitchen is only permitted for residential use, so we offer deeply discounted Bed & Bath rates. The banana bread that morning was my baking fix for the week - I miss it in the winter. Thanks for the kind write up and please spread the word about the Bald Eagle Festival - it's something special. After traveling for almost a month the White House was a refuge to weary travelers. Our first floor room was much quieter than anticipated, so I can recommend it highly. The king size bed is always our preference. Very interesting history for the house. Because they are located

"Don't get me wrong, I admire elegance and have an appreciation of the finer things in life. But to me, beauty lies in simplicity." Mark Hyman At the White House, we share Mark Hyman's philosophy, "beauty in simplicity." Our goal is clean and comfortable. You won't find words like luxury or gourmet in any of our advertising. It's not who we are. We hope our places offers a restful respite in an otherwise busy fun filled adventure in Alaska. Thanks for staying with us and you for your kind words. Skagway is a busy cruise ship for, without a doubt, but she is so much more. Safe travels, John and Jan Tronrud

We stayed 3 nights at the White House B&B, a traditional home, full of history. Everything in the room was meticulously organized, very clean and comfortable. The main floor loaded with antique furniture. Nice breakfast.

"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure." Colin Powell Well, we know ourselves we have hit the failure button and learned from it a time or two. Your write up offers all of us working At the White House affirmation that, as a result, we are doing the important things well. Thank you. Enjoy your travels and come see us again. Nice place, nice buffet breakfast but for this Chilkoot hiker, the loan of an unused can of bear spray, left by another hiker, was the icing on the cake. Little things like this (thanks Chelsea) really mean a lot. I returned the can, thankfully unused again. Pass it on!

"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." Pele At the White House has been up and running since 1997. It is a lot of hard work and we have learned a lot along the way. Our success is directly proportionate to the folks we work with. Chelsey is but one shining example of working with people that care about what they are doing and who they are doing it for. It is our delight to be able to offer up and pass along unused cans of bear spray in particular - for we hope no one every needs to empty one of those cans along the way. Safe travels and thanks for taking the time for the write up. Kind regards, John and Jan Tronrud

All the rooms have private baths. All have toilet sink and shower, and 8 or the 9 have both bath tub and shower configurations. Sorry we didn't reply sooner. I just say the question.

"All rooms are great"
"We had the one at the top of the stairs on the right and it was huge."
"Choose a room upstairs facing town. The cruise ships coming into the harbor would be fun to watch."
"I've stayed both downstairs and upstairs, both are very nice."
"Most rooms are on the 2nd floor, so they may be quieter. Stairs only, no elevator. There are 2 rooms, I believe on the main floor."
