We spent one night in Skagway on our way from Whitehorse to Haines. Even before we left our home Chelsea was on top of things. She sent me all sorts of helpful information. We arrived on time, our room was ready and it was perfect. It was like staying at a friend's house. Bed was very comfortable, big bathroom and overall the inn was quiet (but full to capacity). I really enjoyed reading about the history of the home. Everything in Haines is walkable, so stay a little off the strip.and enjoy the tranquility.

A charming place to stay in Skagway that was walking distance to the restaurants, shops and bars. It’s in a nice and quite part of town. The rooms were a good size with comfortable beds, a mini fridge, coffee machine and tv. The wifi struggles when everyone is on but no big deal. It would be nice if breakfast was an option included. Overall a great place to stay!

We had the upstairs corner room, which was huge, immaculate and decorated tastefully. Although they no longer serve breakfast, they still had a toaster and microwave for guest use and the communal area had interesting antiques. Chelsey, the hostess, was wonderful. She gave us plenty of info prior to our arrival, and when the wifi wasn't working well on the first night, she contacted the company and had it sorted for our 2nd day. She had prepared a huge information file in the room, with historical information on the property, as well as restaurant guides. The hotel is conveniently located, within walking distance to the airport and sites, yet far enough from the cruise ship crowd. Highly recommended. We stayed in a number of hotels during our 2.5 week trip to Alaska and At The White House Inn was the best!

Our first Trip Advisor Review in almost two years! Thank you for making the effort and taking the time to share your experience Lisa. Hope you enjoyed the rest of Skagway equally as much. Every time I hear the train whistle I think there is hope for our small community that survives on tourism. As Oprah said, "The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.' That's what we are doing up here in the north. And we are happy to share it. Enjoy the rest of your visit to Alaska. Kind regards, from All of us, At the White House Inn, Skagway, Alaska

We came with friends and lots of children! You were so accommodating and lovely-the kids even got little Christmas presents on their beds! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely try to be back next year for the Santa Train. What a great event Skagway puts on. We're from Whitehorse and love coming to Skagway for a small get-away. The White House will be our go-to from now on. Thanks for a memorable stay!

Huge beautiful place, far better than a conventional B&B. Very nicely decorated and comfortable. Like staying in an antique colonial house you'd normally shuffle through on a guided tour. Easily walkable to main streets and to the pier. Friendly staff running the place off season. Skagway is like a ghost town off season, but thankfully this place was open and life, restaurants and shops can be found. Really enjoyed the drive and exploration of the Dyea Flats area by the Chilkoot Trailhead.

I had the most amazing stay at The White House. From the moment I walked in and smelled the homemade cookies to when I left the next morning for the Chilkoot trail, my visit was nothing but wonderful. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. My room was very comfortable and quiet. There was a lot of variety for breakfast and the coffee was excellent. The location was perfect as it was within walking distance of the main town. I would highly recommend staying “At the White House”.

Your kind words are appreciated. You can't go wrong when you come through a door and smell fresh baked cookies. And for the record, we credit Skagway's crisp clean drinking water for our coffee reviews more than anything else. As I am have mentioned in prior reviews, in the off-season the Bed & Bath rates do not include breakfast, but the coffee is on every morning and the cookie jar out every afternoon - year round. Our 2019 staff has really been top notch and seem to embrace Charles Schwab's philosophy, perhaps without even know it. "Lead the life that will make you kindly and friendly to everyone about you, and you will be surprised what a happy life you will lead."

A beautiful place....charming and cosy. The rooms all have private bathrooms, and the room I was in had a sloped ceiling and double aspect windows which added to the charm. The breakfast provided was lovely with lots of variety and the homemade muffins and cookies each day were a treat......and the staff were so lovely. It was a great place to stay and I would certainly go back.

Thank you for your thoughtful write up. Happy to hear you enjoyed your visit and we hope you come back again some day. Warm regards, John and Jan And I smile as I think of Joseph B. Wirthlin's words, " Kind words not only lift our spirits in the moment they are given, but they can linger with us over the years. Thank you again.

We stayed 2 nights here At The White House. The inn is beautiful and historic and very clean. The room was large spacious and comfortable. The Inn is located just 2 blocks from downtown close enough to walk there but far away enough to avoid the noise from cruise ship crowd. The breakfast was very good and gave you an opportunity to mingle with guest from all over the world. You can walk to any place in Skagway from the Inn. Highly recommended.

Thank you kindly for your gracious review. For future travelers, please know that our rooms vary in size and our off-season Bed & Bath rates do not include breakfast. But other than that, we are always walking distance to restaurants, always clean, and forever historic. And I must say, thank you again as I am reminded, not all of us are like Prince and can say, "I'm not one to get bad reviews."

We stayed here for four nights and had a great experience. The host Chelsea was terrific. Handled all our needs while we were planning the trip and while we were there. We had a bigger room with a king bed on the first floor (Room 101). The room was spotless and in great condition with lots of nice decorations that my wife appreciated more than me. Refrigerator in the room. WiFi worked well. Breakfast was great. Homemade muffins every morning. Cereal, oatmeal, breads, fruit, yogurt, juice, great jam. Several choices for gluten free. Fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies every day. Someone ate quite a few of them but I won't name names.(Okay, it was me.) About 6 blocks from downtown - very close and convenient. SMART Bus in Skagway will take you anywhere in town for $2 so getting there from the ferry is easy and cheap. No use looking for any other place to stay in Skagway. Just go here. But reserve early. They were full the whole time we were there.

Well I can't really add much to that, other than to say thank you. Travel and adventure are some of the best tools for opening our eyes. As Andre Gide says, “MAN CANNOT DISCOVER NEW OCEANS UNLESS HE HAS THE COURAGE TO LOSE SIGHT OF THE SHORE.” Kind regards, John and Jan
