This place seemed promising on Tripadvisor, but it turned out somewhat of a disappointment. The property is small, although nice enough for a short walk (15mn). Which means you may spend an afternoon reading, not much more. The rooms probably date back to the 90s without renovation since. Breakfast was good. Dinner was recommended in the village, but the place served meals with nice titles but fast-food quality. Finally, staff was nice, except for a pretentious manager that ended up ruining the experience.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you did not like your stay with us. The property stretches on around 20 Ha, including a park, an orchard and a wood, together with pedestrian paths. 2005 was the year of opening of the hotel and every year since, we have refurbished one third of the 12 rooms. Our Bistrot, located in the village near the XII century church, presents only local and fresh products dishes. I will pass your comment - as well as the one you posted on Chartreuse du Bignac page- on to our chef. All the best Jean Louis Viargues Owner

Michelin friend recommended this restaurant. Good value top end experience. Almost half the price of our local Chateau Vigiers Les a Fresques Michelin star restaurant. A must visit. South of Bergerac. Beautiful Chateau & surroundings. Go on treat yourself! Recommend white wine Chateau de la Jabertie mirabelle! Exceptional.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting ,ideal for a quiet and restful break away from it all. The bedroom was tastefully decorated and had views across the landscape. Bed was amazing! However, the hotel was very cold and had a strong smell of damp. The bedroom, once you turned the heating controls on, heated up within the hour and was then warm enough to enable you to remove an outer jacket. No heat came on in the bathroom. I noticed that a fire was lit in the main salon when a guest asked and complained that it was cold. Breakfast was 18euro plus tax but didn’t have everything available that was stated on menu. Check in was relatively straight forward and staff were pleasant. I’m sure in the summer it’s warm and even more beautiful but if you like to relax in the warmth of a Chartreuse during winter months ,this may not be your best choice.

I came to stay for a week with my cousins in this Hotel, it was simply gorgeous. Everything is unique about it: the beautiful park and its two water bassins; the view when you walk to the edge of the hill and sit by the barrels; the indoor decoration which has been chosen with a great attention to details and harmony; the rooms we had were decorated differently and very comfortable, especially with the air conditioning. Still, my favourite aspect was the restaurant with its terrasse, the view of the sunset as you have dinner, and the oh so delicious food. I will definitely go back again!

We agree entirely with recent reviewer about this hotel. The restaurant location is superb and the food good although we met German guests who had booked two weeks and had exactly the same menu every night. The standard of accommodation is substandard and is an afterthought to fill the restaurant. There are no mini bar fridges in the room to chill water and requests for ice are met with hostility. Ultimately supply and demand will affect this hotel. The Chateau de Vigiers is 20 minutes drive away with excellent accommodation excellent service and top class restaurants at a lower price. The Chartreuse is useful for being close to airport if catching early flight. Otherwise go elsewhere.
