The building is called a chartreuse. It has been lovingly restaured and you will enjoy its setting and privacy. The Mayor of Saint Nexans is the owner, he will make sure you have a wonderful stay. Dinner is top quality, as is breakfast.

The staff was very nice. The rooms are cosy, but the bathrooms are a bit outdated although perfectly clean. The view from the dinner tables is incredible, and the food outstanding. There is also a very nice garden for the children. Recommended!

This property is beautiful, both inside and outside. The rooms are large and nicely decorated, the hosts and staff are gracious and helpful, and I would stay here again in s heartbeat! We especially appreciated their patience with our lack of fluency in French!

The place is just exquisite, the ambiance, the amenities, the views, the calm. Fantastic room, good bed, nice bathroom. A very special breakfast and the most accommodating host you can wish for. All in all a place to come back and back again.

This is a review for the restaurant, not the hotel. We had dinner at the Chartreuse restaurant earlier this month. We were a party of 8, two of whom were vegetarian. I can honestly say it was one of the best vegetarian meals I have ever eaten in France - beautifully presented and utterly delicious. My hearty congratulations to the chef. It is so encouraging that restaurants in France are finally beginning to embrace the concept of vegetarianism, and they could learn a lot from the Chartreuse.

Unique blend of comfortable accommodation and superb food, set within extensive grounds, with views over verdant rolling countryside. Excellent large swimming pool with more than adequate sun loungers etc. Host made a special effort on our last morning at breakfast to check we had enjoyed our visit. Would highly recommend.

Enjoy the fine features of this historic building and marvel at the care and attention to the gardens around the manicured estate. Spacious accommodation with many stylish features and lovely comforts. Strange, sit-down interrogation on arrival about breakfast requirements. A couple of requests for service went unresolved but overall, a memorable and charming stay.

This place seemed promising on Tripadvisor, but it turned out somewhat of a disappointment. The property is small, although nice enough for a short walk (15mn). Which means you may spend an afternoon reading, not much more. The rooms probably date back to the 90s without renovation since. Breakfast was good. Dinner was recommended in the village, but the place served meals with nice titles but fast-food quality. Finally, staff was nice, except for a pretentious manager that ended up ruining the experience.

Response from Jean Louis Viargues, Propriétaire at La Chartreuse du Bignac
Responded Sep 6, 2020
Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you did not like your stay with us. The property stretches on around 20 Ha, including a park, an orchard and a wood, together with pedestrian paths. 2005 was the year of opening of the hotel and every year since, we have refurbished one third of the 12 rooms. Our Bistrot, located in the village near the XII century church, presents only local and fresh products dishes. I will pass your comment - as well as the one you posted on Chartreuse du Bignac page- on to our chef. All the best Jean Louis Viargues Owner
