Great location nestled in the trees. Easy to find and check yourself in. As others said, the breakfast is a highlight. Room was comfy, we had to leave a window open though because the heat was oppressive inside even though it’s in the 40s outside.
This was a beautiful B&B in a quiet forested area. One couldn't help but admire Richard's craftsmanship in building what was formerly his family's home. We had a spacious and comfortable room with access to a shared common area with a balcony. Everything was very clean! Richard and Sue had a delicious breakfast for us with pancakes made from a special sourdough that had been handed down from generations! Great hosts with great accommodations! S. Jones
Loved the hosts Richard and Sue, lovely wooded location, great breakfast sourdough pancakes with crispy bacon! The only negative, no cream for coffee in upstairs location and no shampoo, body soap. Otherwise, great!
Richard and Sue make you feel like family along with their two friendly dogs. The sourdough pancakes have come from a starter that's been passed down through the years and are something to eagerly look forward to in the morning. The B&B lives upto its name with a cozy bed, a full breakfast done right and warm generous host. Richard has many wonderful stories to share about his experiences in Alaska over the past 40+ years. The house was so unique and charming with all the intricate wood work that embodied the spirit of the area and was crafted by the host, Richard. We would recommend everyone to stay at this place, do not miss out.
My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at Sourdough Sunrise B&B. As advertised in the guest book, the pancakes were amazing! Sourdough Sunrise B&B is also very conveniently located being a short 5 minute drive from Seward. At the same time, being located in a wooded location, you feel like you are in a real cabin in the woods staying at Sourdough Sunrise B&B. I highly recommend staying here if you visit Seward.
The second we arrived, I already couldn't wait to come back. It's the perfect location, the room was immaculate, you're immediately greeted by their two beautiful dogs that serve as bear and moose alarms (we feel in love with their dogs, the dogs do not go inside the B&B). Breakfast was incredible. They even let us take leftovers with us. Richard and Sue are so kind and lovely. We are already planning our next stay there.
We stayed here during the pandemic. The place has 3 rooms upstairs in a cozy lodge. We were the only ones in the place, so it was great for us. It could be a bit "busy" if the other rooms were occupied, but we enjoyed our stay. It has a nice deck on the front side and it was great to sit out there in the am and have coffee. The breakfast was great with the sourdough pancakes. Richard (owner) was very informative about the wildlife and the area in general. We would stay here again!
Enjoyed a stay here with my girls in mid November 2019. This beautiful B&B is tucked away and private yet with in minutes to Seward. Upon arrival there was a sign out front with our names on it welcoming us. A very classy and personal touch! The rooms are cozy and quite, just what we were looking for. The breakfast was amazing. The sourdough pancakes are made with a sourdough start that has been active since 1905!! Very cool. The breakfast was delicious and our host was polite and engaging. You will be missing out on a great experience if you stay anywhere else.
Our first time ever staying in a B&B did not disappoint! Our family stayed for three nights in this charming home. The five of us comfortably slept in one room with two queen beds & a rollaway. Sue was so accommodating & prepared delicious breakfasts. We had sourdough pancakes, salmon berry jelly, crispy bacon, fruit, coffee & juice plus scrambled eggs upon request. So filling & a great start to our day. The location is perfect for hiking in Kenai Fjords or catching a sightseeing cruise. We greatly enjoyed tips & stories about Alaska from Sue as well as chatting with the other guests. We highly recommend staying here!
Found this charming place here on Trip Advisor. It is such a gem that we found immaculate and comfortable. Richard and Sue are wonderful hosts. Breakfasts were delicious. We learned all about the ancient yeast. So so glad we stopped here for 2 nights. Do head over to the Salmon Bake restaurant for an amusing and yummy dinner. It's right around the corner.
