Seward Windsong Lodge garners appreciation for its shuttle service and rustic allure, nestled within a scenic Alaskan setting that guests find cozy and inviting. The lodge's rooms receive commendations for their spaciousness and cleanliness, with a touch of cabin-style decor. However, visitors often mention the lodge is pricey and lacks certain basic amenities. Despite the shuttle service's convenience, some guests have encountered challenges with staff responsiveness. The location remains a highlight, providing easy access to local attractions.

The Windsong was a breath of fresh air. ( Literally). It sits a short distance from town out in on a large property in the woods. It provides free shuttles to town all day and has it's own restaurant and bar on site, which made it very nice when coming back from all day tours. We had most of our meals at the Resurrection Roadhouse. The staff were all professional and friendly. The Lodge is clean and affordable, but above the others around.

After reading Seward’s weather forecast on my phone, I booked online a one night stay for two at Seward's Windsong Lodge.
The Lodging location is away from busy traffic, near Resurrection River and the forest.
Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable with plenty of clean towels in the bathroom.

When pulling up we were impressed with the exterior of the facility. There are a number of different buildings. We stayed in one of their newest buildings. When walking in, the room smelled brand new and was immaculately clean. Beds are soft, with soft pillows. The sink is outside of the shower and toilet. In addition to the beds, there is a dresser, with wall-mounted TV, two chairs and a table. There is a table with chairs in front of the door outside, as well as on the balcony in the back. The balcony backed up to thick wilderness, great for viewing animals. A bear and cubs were spotted at the building next to ours. They let us know upon checking in, due to COVID, there would be no daily cleaning, and if we needed extra towels, soaps, pillows, etc, to call. The pillows were so soft, we needed more, which they delivered within 30 minutes. There is a restaurant on location, as well as odds and ends for sale within the lobby. We stayed at several different lodgings on this vacation, and this hotel was our favorite. The room was the largest and cleanest. Would stay there again.

We stayed at Windsong Lodge one night after arriving by train from Anchorage. They, as are every hospitality provider in Alaska, are short-handed. The staff was excellent.

Our accommodations were in a newer building (completed in 2019) because we needed ramps for some of us who had difficulty. We were in a row of 3 rooms, one of which was handicap accessible. Because we were a distance from the main lobby, we had to phone for transportation to go anywhere on the grounds, but they were quick to come get us.

The rooms were lovely and backed up to the woods. They were well-equipped. They still smelled like new wood (lovely not to smell chemical), and it almost felt like we were among the first to stay in the rooms. There was a small decks in the back and areas on the front porch with a table and chairs where we could sit and visit.

Shuttle transportation between the lodge and Seward was available and ran every hour on the hour from the lodge to town, and every half hour from town to lodge.

The restaurant on the grounds or adjacent to the hotel, was okay.

We only had one night here but it was very nice. Although it is a little way out of town there is a very convenient shuttle to two stops in town. There is also a restaurant on site although we did not use it. A second bar of soap for the bathroom sink (located in the actual bedroom) would have been helpful.

The lodge consists of a number of separate, two-story buildings, each with several units per floor. We spent 2 peaceful nights in a spacious, ground-floor room with a deck that opened to the woods. Housekeeping service was extremely prompt when we requested additional towels and coffee. The location of the lodge could not be better, across the road from the Resurrection River, and midway between the Seward Boat Harbor to the south and the Exit Glacier to the north (each about a 5 min drive). The views along the river and the half-mile hike to the glacier outlook are stunning! We would not hesitate to stay at the Windsong Lodge on a return visit to Alaska.

Staff was wonderful. When I arrived at my room, the window would not lock and a stick was used to prevent window from being opened. The window screen frame was broken and window would not shut completely so I had a room full of flies when I walked in. Asked front desk for new screen and fly swatter but the said they didn't have a fly swatter. I stopped at bar for food and visited with people I met on the bus down from Anchorage. By the time I got to my room, the screen was replaced, flies were evicted and a fan was left.(most AK hotels don't have air conditioning). Carpet was stained.
The lodge is 3 miles outside of town but they do provide a shuttle service which is helpful but inconvenient.

What a cute place! We loved the lodge style with the separate buildings. The rooms were a great size with perfect amenities. We also liked that the sink was separate than the shower and toilet so the wife could get ready while the husband was in the shower. The beds were comfy. Staff were friendly and went above and beyond for us.

Room/suite was comfortable and suited our family nicely. We were disappointed with housekeeping and having to go to office to obtain necessary items, like towels, trash bags, coffee/cups, and toilet paper. Our room was never cleaned while we were there.

We had a 1 night stay post our cruise. The best part was the free shuttle into town and the luggage storage pre check in and then its transfer to the train to Anchorage.
Despite being rated 2/15 for Seward accommodation, we found the accommodation tired and basic for the cost. We did make use of the porter service as our room was on the upper level and a fair walk from the reception building.
With a long wait after disembarking from our ship before being able to check in to our room, the coffee shop was closed by mid day. No brochures were readily available in this reception area for deciding on potential excursions. We occupied ourselves for 1 hour walking around the immediate area.
Being situated 4 miles from Seward’s small boat harbour, you needed to either utilise the hourly shuttle or walk for 75 minutes into town. Unfortunately, despite being on the road to the Exit Glacier park, no shuttle is offered to this, requiring you to take the shuttle into town then pay to be transferred back, past the lodge, to the park. (Then do the same in reverse!)
We ate at the Resurrection Restaurant( within the lodge grounds) for dinner then breakfast.
On arrival for dinner, after we had fortunately booked a table online, the staff were welcoming, despite being busy. The food was ok but definitely not gourmet.
Breakfast is advertised until 11 am, with the option of a la carte or buffet. However, be warned that the buffet is shut down at 9 am despite having taken orders for it, and then charging for the full breakfast buffet service. The pastries appeared appetising from a distance before being removed. Who knows what was under the hot food covers?
So for all the hype of this lodge being part of Pursuit’s Alaskan collection, it is below par. It may be that staffing levels limit its ability to offer a higher standard of service, but it does not provide the expected experience advertised by Pursuit and other Alaskan tourism sites on line.

The tour office which is right at the harbor stored our bags. Just ask the tour guide or the folks at the office when you get to Seward. I am sure it will be no problem.

We loved having breakfast at the lodge during our stay. You have a choice of EITHER a very nice buffet OR items of off a regular breakfast menu. Both are great choices depending on what you have a taste for.
