This is an original hotel from the early days of Alaska and has some unique features like Murphy beds, a bathroom down the hall and many antiques. A blast from the past in one of Alaska original cities at the beginning of the Seward Highway and the Alaska Railroad.

We were so dissatisfied with the VanGilder hotel in Seward Alaska. We understand it's historic, but they should use the money collected for expensive rooms to fix the holes in the walls, peeling wallpaper, wires coming out of the ceiling & stains in bathroom. It also smells bad!
