Great hotel. Beautiful, new facility. Very close to many restaurants. Best breakfast! Would definitely stay again. Close to water and wild life cruises. Staff was excellent. Safe place to park car, walk around and smoke in front of restaurant.

+1
This hotel is so beautiful, clean, very relaxing and well-designed. Newly opened in May 2021. I am one traVEler who is very particular about the cleanliness of the room as well as the sheets and beddings.
The beddings and sheets are soft and of high quality material. The room is very clean and spotless! They offer free breakfast - with great selection of hot meals, different kinds of bread and cereals and breakfast drinks. Something I really appreciated because not a lot of hotels these days offer free good breakfast anymore. This hotel also carefully thought about their guests as the hotel provides washer and dryer for guests to do their laundry. This is very convenient for a traVEler like me who try to keep my clothes at a minimum so that I won't have to bring more clothes or wearing a repeat/dirty clothes.
The view from your window of mountains is spectacular, too!
This hotel is conveniently located right across the harbor/port. It's walking distance to many shops and restaurants as well as Visitor Center. About 5-10min walk to Seward Train Depot (where I had to catch my train ride back to Anchorage) and bus stop for FREE shuttle ride to downtown Seward which is just a mile away.

The Gateway is walkable from the train station and a mile from downtown Seward. All of the excursions you might want to take are within a couple of blocks. The hotel is new and the staff keep it that way, spotless and comfortable. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean with blackout shades. We had two great night’s sleep. There was a sparkling laundry room with eight standard washers and dryers and one industrial dryer. Breakfast, which was provided, was very enjoyable with many choices and a very attentive service person. The front desk was staffed with knowledgeable and very personable people. I would definitely make Gateway of Seward my first choice.

This is a nice newly built hotel in Seward and while all the other reviews were favorable, I'm not going to sugar coat mine.
The first thing I noticed was the lingering smell of fresh paint.
It got a bit nauseating at first. I asked for a circulation fan and that helped.
If you happen to get put in a lower room you can expect to hear a lot of racket from the guests above you. They put almost No insulation between floors and the first night I thought there was a family of woolly mammoths staying in the room above ours. When the cleaning people came to ready the room above, you could hear every move they made including 15 minutes of very loud
vacuuming. Very annoying. The breakfast menu was good, fresh and tasty egg cheese omelet sausage patty, cold and hot cereal. The breakfast room was spacious but lacks noise reducing panels so you hear amplified loud speaking people from across the room...again quite annoying. Our room lacked a simple clock and was very bare except for a single piece of art on one wall. The beds were very comfortable. Yes they need a few improvements but overall a decent place to hang your hat for a day or two.
Lenny from Denver.

It was a joy to stay at the new Seward Gateway hotel . What a privilege to stay at a very, clean hotel that even smelled new. Excellent hospitality from the front desk to the hospitality staff at breakfast. The rooms were well decorated along with very comfy mattresses and pillows. The hot breakfast of pancakes, cheese omelet and bacon along with a variety of fresh fruit and many selections of fruit juices was yummy. It was a treat to hear about the stories of this locally owned restaurant with an Alaskan flare. Beautiful Alaskan artworks on the walls were an added bonus. The hotel is at a very convenient location to the harbor where you can walk to downtown or take the Seward shuttle, plus we looked onto a little salmon stream. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This was a great place to stay in Seward. The rooms are new, clean, and comfortable. The shower even had a seat in it! The bathroom was spacious, as was the room. The bed was very comfortable. We stayed in a "family room" - two bedrooms and a shared bath. One bedroom had a door to separate it from the other bedroom/bath area.
The front desk staff was incredibly patient and happy to share information on local places to eat, what to see, taxis, etc.
The complimentary breakfast was so much better than most. Omelets made to order!
I would definitely stay here again.

My friend and I had the pleasure of being a few of the first guests to stay at the newly opened Gateway hotel in Seward located near the Kenai Fjords tour terminal. The hotel sports lovely contemporary decor, view of the harbor and mountains in the distance, a large conference room that doubles as the dining room during open season (May- September), a salmon watching platform outdoors and 3 floors. We stayed in a room with 2 queen beds which were very comfortable, blackout shades, refrigerator and coffee maker and generous bathroom facilities. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast featuring a variety of hot and cold entrees, juices, fruit and breads. I particularly enjoyed the pancakes and omelet served with bacon. We found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. Fun to stay at the Gateway.

My husband, 3 year old son and I stayed at the Gateway for 8 days to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We had a great time! The hotel is absolutely beautiful with spacious public areas, we stayed in double queen room and it was roomy with tasteful decor. We had a great view of Mt Marathon (that we hiked up during the week - being able to lay in bed and see where we stopped was fun 😂). We loved having hot breakfast options every morning - the pancake machine was the highlight of my kids morning every single day.
The staff was incredible. Every single employee we passed greeted us with a smile and 'hello' or 'have a great day' which caught me off guard because we've never had that happen even though we frequent hotels in the summers. Sylvia (I hope I read her name badge right) was my favorite employee! She was the one who checked us in and every single day we saw her she greeted us and asked how our day was going. She was friendly and personable and wasn't afraid to point out fun little hidden trails around town.
Like other reviewers we did notice being able to hear the people above us walking/running around their room but it didn't bother us much. We were so tired from adventuring when we got to the hotel in the evening it was easy to tune everything out and their noise didn't ruin our stay at all.
The hotel is SUPER conveniently located. Walking distance to the shops by the harbor, a great ice cream truck parks across the road on not-rainy days, and it right smack dab in the middle of everything you want to see. We can't wait to book our next stay here! Thank you Gateway for making our Seward staycation so GREAT!

The hotel is located in easy walking distance from the Seward harbor area with lots of restaurants and fishing/boat activities. It's also a short drive to downtown Seward with more restaurants, shops and the aquarium. It's a new hotel and very clean. Our room was quite spacious and the black out curtains worked well. The breakfast was fine (same one in every AK hotel), and the staff were friendly and helpful. They have an onsite guest laundry that was easy to use and plenty of parking while we were there (seems many groups arrive on buses, so not too many cars). Would stay there again.

This hotel has an exceptional complimentary breakfast. This is the newest hotel in Seward and has extremley clean and modern rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. By staying here you can also take advantage of discounts on Major Marine Cruises tours as the two businesses have the same owner. The property is in a great location, across the street from the small boat harbor and a short walk from the railroad depot.
