We had lunch there and only wish that they had dinner too! The crepes were delicious and made with love and care. The decoration was very special and full of history and nature. It is a must-visit place in Seward. We found this place online and made sure that we would stop by. We were very glad that we did,... More

You have to come visit this restaurant. The man who makes the crepes is a character and a master of his craft. Yes, the crepes are delicious and elegantly presented. But the commentary that accompanies them is priceless. The venue is small (4 tables) and you may have to wait for a table. And then, you'll probably have to wait... More

You must stop in to this place when visiting Seward. This off the beaten path creperie is worth the wait. The only thing bigger than Yvan and Janet's loving welcome is the size of the crepes! My boyfriend and I had the breakfast crepe to share and it was plenty. There were so many tempting options on the menu we... More

This restaurant was created by the love and dedication of a couple who founded the restaurant 29+ years ago. You can feel the love for the place upon walking into this eclectic restaurant. The owners made the crepes themselves and take their art seriously. Come hungry because the portion size is large. The crepes were fantastic, but the couple who... More

The crepes made by Yvon are truly spectacular and you can watch him making them right in front of you. The Inn consists of lovingly decorated rooms in different sizes - for the single traveller as well as a family. Both Yvon and Janet will make you feel right at home.

This inn unfortunately did not live up to our expectations. Immediately upon arrival, the property looked like a junk yard and the building was nearly dilapidated. We didn't want to be quick to judge, so we went inside. Janet showed us to our room, which was extremely outdated. Aside from the musty smell, the comforters were tattered and frayed, and... More

When I arrived with my family we found that our room was very outdated and worn out with a musty smell. The structure itself is in need of repair as well. After looking at a previous person's post about bedbugs I looked the following morning and found some in 1 of the beds. None of us were bitten. Needless to... More

I was supposed to stay for three nights with my friends here but was bitten by the bed bugs the first night I stayed there. The place looked really old and we found bed bugs on the bed after I was bitten. We called Janet - the hostess - to take a look but her first reaction was pretty rude.... More

Hands down the best crepe and Belgian waffle I've ever had! If I'm ever back in Seward, this will be my first stop. I ordered the crepe with reindeer sausage and a belgian waffle (go big or go home) and enjoyed every bite. The coffee was self serve and was excellent. The couple who owns the Inn and Creperie is... Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids under 12) stayed in the Treehouse, which is one-room cabin on stilts that's built around a tree near the Inn. It had a queen-sized bed and a large loft with three twin mattresses where our kids slept. The loft was very safe, and our kids loved hanging out there with the owner's... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Le Barn Appetit, the first creperie in all of Alaska, was created in 1987 by Yvon and Janet van Driessche, your hosts, and their children. We built the original four-story barn (Belgian-style) which is the tallest building in Seward. Besides the main barn building, there is the "Tree House" and the newest "Jack London's Cabin". We are a B&B/Inn and our hosted guests can be small or large groups. We have cable and free Wi-Fi available to our guests in many of our rooms. With spacious clean rooms, each chamber has a theme with genuine objects to match their stories. Our Inn guests sleep comfortably, and receive a 20% discount for their Crepe breakfasts. Anyone with gluten difficulties, we also use Sarasin (Buckwheat) for gluten-free crepes. Come witness the creation of our gourmet Belgian crepes prepared before your eyes to your liking on our custom Creperie created in the summer of 2004. Try Janet's rich Belgian waffles made from scratch with fresh fruit in season, topped with all the other fixings. Breakfast, meal crepes, and dessert crepes are available to the general public. We are open daily form 7AM to 4 PM. Families are welcome ... more   less
