This place doesn't look like a hotel. It's more like a small apartment. The guy who runs the place is funny and very nice. The place is quiet and right in the middle of Seward. There was no air conditioning, which wasn't bad even though it was the middle of July. We stayed in Seward for two days and this... More

You get a premonition the moment you step off the street and onto the concrete path and rickety wooden stairs, even before you enter the lobby. Lobby! Never has a word been more mendaciously abused than in this case. It is in fact a short, messy, oppressively hot corridor, sporting a filthy fish tank with few unhappy fish. The window... More

Hotel booking ended up getting mixed up and over booked. Gentlemen wasn't very nice about it all made for an unpleasant experience. We ended having to get another hotel in the area and half our party stayed here and the other half at a different hotel. This hotel really needs some TLC maintenance.

The Taroka Inn is far from 5 star but it worked for us. Plenty of space and a seperate bedroom. It had a functional kitchen and Safeway a mile away so we cooked meals to save on dining expenses. Clean bathroom with good hot water. Good location if you want to stay downtown and not at the harbour.

The Taroka Inn is marginally servicable and a few bucks cheaper than other alternatives in Seward, but had anything else been available, I would have booked elsewhere. Taroka Inn is tired & worn out and it shows. In dire need of heavy maintenance and lots of TLC. The owner was a nice older gentleman.

We had a large group staying in two rooms. There were 4 beds in each room. One bed had no bedding and we asked the manager for an extra set and he said "twenty bucks." At first we thought he was joking, but he wasn't! Unreal! The rooms weren't exactly clean nor comfortable. I would book somewhere else in Seward.

This is a great place if you want a clean room, comfortable bed and a shower. The place is small. I assume an old military housing unit. The location is in a few blocks of restaurants, bars, espresso and shopping. The owner is a friendly and interesting character. If you want big Hotel amenities this is not the place for... More

This hotel was the 1933 USO building and therefore historic. It is run by a very nice gentleman and his wife. The efficiency apartments are a bit quirky but worked well. Just remember, Alaska is a rough place. The best part is, that for Alaska prices, this is affordable and centrally located in Seward and easy to find. It is... More

For starters the wifi password doesn't work and the bathroom is small and cramped. And this is supposedly a nonsmoking hotel but the rooms and courtyard clearly smell of cigarettes. Half of the buildings are falling apart and the other half are decent. Over all I would not recommend this hotel.

Centrally located in Seward, this place is very convenient. Basic yet comfortable clean beds and bathroom is big, clean and functional. Kitchen is good too. James was very friendly and room service was done daily. The only reason to rate it 4 is the blinds and some of the dishes (baking tray) were very dirty. But who cares! Not there... More
