Overall we were extremely happy with our stay. We spent four nights in a lakeside cabin. It was immaculately clean, nicely furnished, and had a beautiful view. Exactly as pictured on the website and exactly what we wanted. The kitchen was very well equipped, as promised, even including marshmallow roasting sticks and matches. The beds were comfortable, the linens were high quality and the towels were fluffy. We had plenty of hot water in the shower with excellent water pressure. I had one small problem which isn't a deal breaker and easily managed. The Retreat has exactly 2 hair dryers available as a shared resource for the cabins, but those need to be reserved. Had this been made clear to me in my welcome e-mail, I would have made sure to either reserve one or bring it with me. I would happily stay here again the next time I'm in the Seward area.…
Had a great couple of days at the cabin on the lake . The cabin was clean and had all necessary things . It’s off the grid that gave us time to unplug from all devices and enjoy the beautiful nature! Mornings we spent kayaking and exploring the lake and afternoons hiking trails and visiting Seward,
Couldn't have asked for more. The cabin was clean, well kept and provided everything that I needed. Shower was hot with good water pressure. The property was quiet and the owners were friendly and helpful. The view of the lake and mountains from the porch was phenomenal. I loved waking up to it in the morning.
We stayed in a lakefront cabin for one night. The view was a five star view. The cabin was okay. Nothing fancy. The bed upstairs seemed a little cheap. The part that annoyed me is that it slept 4-5 people, but we were charged $40 extra for having an extra person even though we had a total of 4 adults. Why would it sleep 4, but you had to pay extra after three? Also I get a little irked when the paper says "Tips are appreciated", but when you get to the cabin they pretty much tell you to clean the place before you leave....uhhh it was $330 per night.....that doesn't cover cleaning? Also should the tip go to me and my family since we were the ones that cleaned?
Our family - mine and my brother's - visited in 2021 after a cancelled trip in 2020 due to my mom's terminal fight with cancer. Gary was incredibly gracious and we booked side by side cabins. The no internet, no cell service was a tremendous asset as we had teenagers with us - everyone was forced to "unplug". We played cards, Yahtzee, did puzzles, read, ate LOTS of yummy food, visited, and watched a movie projected on the wall of the cabin. We gathered in honor of my mother, who would have absolutely treasured this special spot on the Peninsula. At the end of our stay in 2021, we all agreed to make it an annual event. We just returned from our 2022 stay in side by side cabins again and are already talking about next year. I am a lifelong Alaskan and can testify this place is truly special. HIGHLY reccomend.…
We highly recommend Renfro's Lakeside Retreat as lodging for your trip to Alaska. It is, without a doubt, one of our favorite overnight stays ever. The log cabins are well-appointed, clean, and exactly what you envision accomodations should be in Alaska. The view out the picture window is of Kenai Lake whose shoreline is not more than 30' away. Just beyond the lake are majestic mountains - unbelievably beautiful. Gary is a terrific host and serves only to make your stay completely memorable. Don't overlook this gem if you plan to visit Seward, AK.
I stayed at Renfros Cabins for 5 perfect nights. Gary was so kind and gracious. I am so grateful to have spent time at this pristine spot at Kenai Lake. Thank you for a perfectly glorious stay. 5 out of 5 stars always!! I will recommend this place to all my friends and family. Thank you again, Sarah Tucker
This was a gem of a place. A last minute decision to say near this area will result in us recommending to friends. Location and hospitality. Not very large, but at the end of the season, intimate is welcoming. The price for what you get: hookup, view, location. A pleasant little gem! They have cabins that look great too.
It was amazing comfy bed, super clean, really updated! We loved every part of it. We booked cabin 7 which is not directly on the lake but it’s only a minute walk. We stayed three other places while traveling in Alaska two times were directly on the ocean… this was by far our favorite. We were able to make all our meals they had pots and pans for cleaning, a huge sink, and a decent size fridge to hold groceries
This is an excellent property. It is well situated, well maintained, and the owners are wonderful. Its location is perfect for getting to the trails or to Seward quickly. The bathrooms and showers were nice, easy to get to, and very clean. It was also quite nice to be able to use their kayaks to explore the lake. Highly recommend.
