Staying in an unfamiliar place is always a bit unnerving- but we were pleasantly surprised by our stay here- the pics on their website don't fully show how spacious the room is! We arrived early but the owner allowed us to leave our bags inside the locked foyer until our room was ready so we could walk around town. The owner later greeted us after confirming by text that our room was ready- super convenient!! Then, when we got to the room (Den #1- on the 2nd floor), we couldn't believe how comfortable it was! We wished we had more than one night to stay! There were 2 lazy chairs, 2 couches, 2 beds, a dining area that seats 4, and a huge outdoor porch all to ourselves! She kept the fridge stocked with yogurt, milk & juice- and a basket of assorted pastries breads and muffins, and oatmeal. Plus a huge bowl of fresh fruit, a fridge, and the most delicious homemade cookies ever! I read some reviews previously that said they were disappointed they didn't serve a "real" breakfast- we actually liked this better. There was MORE than enough food to eat- at our own leisure- but I guess everyone has their own preference. Pros: Comfortable, very clean, close to the train station, very spacious, lots of natural light (but also black out shades for every window). Cons: Not AS close to the train station as we thought- but that's our fault that we didn't map it out in advance. Plus, it's slightly uphill from the train station, so it was a bit tricky rolling our bags. Next time, we'd take a taxi. The walk to the cruise ship was mostly sloped downhill- took us about 20 minutes walking. Again- none of this is a negative against the place. We would absolutely stay again next time we're in Seward- and we would HIGHLY recommend.…
We spent 6 nights in den 3 and it was wonderful! We enjoyed playing Sewardopoly and other games they provided. We loved the well-furnished kitchen to make our stay feel like home. I would recommend that you stay here at the end of your vacation. We stayed at another B&B for the second half of our trip and there was no comparison to Bear's Den. They definitely know their stuff!
We stayed in Den 3, which was perfect with two bedrooms and a den. Shari greeted us and gave us a ton of danishes, oatmeal, cereal, etc. for our breakfast. The place was very clean and inviting. I am looking forward to visiting again!
Excellent! Now the secret is out:) Clean, comfy and inviting with well stocked breakfast items plus homemade banana bread treats and fruit. Bathroom had a dryer, medical kit and complimentary soaps/shampoos. Living area had guests books full of bravos:) There was even a coloring book for kids. I used the internet but tv, dvd etc all available. In floor radiant heat is a nice touch. The guide book was very well done. I know Seward yet I learned more:) I’ll use you guys again!
Stayed here for three nights. Convenient to Seward, gas and groceries. Spacious 2 BR with kitchenette and dining area. Bathroom was really small with door opening next to toilet. Tub drained slowly, lights and receptacles wired weird and very limited TV (no news channels). Hosts were pleasant and provided fresh baked good each day. Needs sound insulation from owners living quarters.
