We were a family of 7 and rented out 3 of the 4 rooms. Two of the room had a lot of stairs. We had the down stairs room and it was very comfortable. The bathroom was private but was down the hall. Every night they serve homemade ice cream bars very good. The B&B is on the out skirts of Seward. If you want to do dinner you have to go into town. We had breakfast one morning and it was very good. They have canoes on site but we did not have time to make use. Nice place to use as base and then do day trips.

Stayed only 2 nights, but wished we had stayed much longer. Beautiful location, comfortable rooms, great staff & owners. Host Margie, immediately made us feel right at home. Served a delicious breakfast each morning. Rooms were well appointed. Enjoyed the full size coffee maker. Rooms were cleaned & made-up each day. Appreciated. Use of kayaks & canoes on Bear Lake was included. Owners Pat & Dennis couldn't have been friendlier.

Reviewer left one of our favorite and frequent comments.... "Wished we had stayed much longer". Summer 2022 we will be offering a limited number of rooms and asking our guests to stay longer - 3 night minimum. We have our new website up and ready with full information our new B&B rental structure and more. Guests will be COVID safe with only one traveling group at the B&B at a time. Book a room for two, or two rooms, or the whole house for 10 guests - check the minimum nights required and specific rooms/suites we are offering. Have any questions? Please give us a call, our phone number can be found on our direct website, or email us. Please always "Book Direct" from a small property, and you'll save the host and yourself some extra travel money. Plus, receive a better cancellation policy. Bear Lake is hard to beat for a relaxing on-water experience! We encourage our guests to get out in either our complimentary kayaks or canoes to view the salmon spawning stream. It's definitely a special and memorable opportunity to view salmon in their life cycle. Thank you for leaving your review and mentioning a few of the items that make us unique and special! The comfortable beds, delicious breakfasts and serene setting is promised to be at its best for future guests too and for reviewers return visit!

Excellent place to stay in Seward Alaska!  Beautiful setting on lake with canoes and kayaks for guests to use. There's lots of things to do. We stayed 4 nights and saw lots of wildlife, on a 6 hour cruise, while hiking to the magnificent Harding Icefield and at the Sea Life Center. Our suite was roomy with full kitchenette, well equipped. We had full and half bath plus living room and bedroom. Very clean, delicious breakfasts. Best of all,  owners and inn keeper shared helpful info and very interesting stories!!

The reviewer could not have left a better posting to assist in explaining to future guests our new B&B rental format. The summer season for 2022 will start our one party/group in the B&B at a time rental policy. The reviewer stayed in our Bear Lake Deck Suite which offers a two story vacation rental type feel, though it's attached to the main B&B house. Guests booking for 2022 will first be offered the suite for double occupancy and if traveling with another couple or couple with 2 children 12-18 years opens up another suite, Lakeside Suite, with a 3 night minimum stay. Should one group be looking for more accommodations the two rooms on the 3rd floor become available and opens up bedding for 10 guests with a 4 night minimum stay. One party/group in the B&B at a time allows for a COVID safe stay. We are all fully vaccinated and booster shots too. Alaska is the social distancing mecca with LOTS of outdoor options in all locations. Hiking, kayaking, fishing and more are all readily accessible from our Bear Lake location. Please see our newly updated website, easily found online with a quick search of our name, Bear Lake Lodgings B&B - you'll be able to locate our phone number and email to get all your Seward travel questions answered. Thank you to the reviewer for noting so many of our special amenities!

We really enjoyed our stay at Bear Lake B&B! Margie, the innkeeper, was a wonderful host and she made our stay feel like a weekend visit to good family. The house itself was beautiful and well appointed. Our room was very nice, with a comfortable bed and a beautiful view to the lake. Dennis, one of the owners, was there both nights we were there. He offered stories of his adventures in Alaska each evening. He was also a wealth of knowledge of the local wildlife from birds to bears to moose recommended hiking trails and things to do in the area. We spent one afternoon in their kayaks on the private lake. We were the only people on the water - paddling, floating, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Bear Lake B&B is the best all around B&B we’ve stayed in!

GOSH, loved the reviewer's last statement! It's definitely what we strive to offer our guests - an unforgettable experience in Alaska! We love our area and definitely enjoy sharing our knowledge of Seward and Alaska with our guests. If we are not around to give information in person, we keep notebooks on hiking trails in the Seward area, restaurant options in Seward and our "Everything Seward" binder along with local city maps for each guest room. Future guests, we will be mixing up our offerings at the B&B for summer 2022 . Our plated and served breakfast will be changing to a self-serve breakfast with special "choose ahead" entree choices and breakfast sides, all hearty enough for the action ahead each day. Not alone making "good" food as the reviewer stated, you'll get to choose. Plus, if you have an early morning activity, breakfast time is now at your chosen time or let us know to bag up a "To Go" breakfast. Complimentary kayaks and canoes will still be ready and at your disposal to experience Bear Lake. DISCOUNTS to see the Kenai Fjords National Park and Alaska SeaLife Center will still be offered to our guests. Along with the GOOD discount on sales tax, accommodations outside of the city limits have only 3% sales tax, where inside the city of Seward - be ready to pay 11% sales tax on your accommodations! Seward offers plenty of activity options and we are asking our 2022 guests to book a stay for 3 nights or longer. Only our vacation rental style suite will be available, if you are traveling with another couple or a family - we will offer two suites sharing the kitchen in the vacation rental suite. If you want all 4 rooms in the house for a family gathering, that's possible too - please call. Please see our newly updated website to view our new offerings. Please "Book Direct" from our secure website. Find us online or call NOW for more information on 2022. Guests will have the property to themselves and their travel group, staying COVID safe. All staff and owners at the B&B are vaccinated and following all local government mandates. Thanks for posting a review!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay. The location is tranquil, on the shores of Bear Lake, yet Seward is just a few miles down the road. Each day when we returned, we would stop at Bear Creek where to observe the salmon below the weir. We took out a canoe our last morning, to explore the lake, to see bald eagles and salmon. The property is immaculate and the welcome engaging and sincere. A rarity these days, we were served a wholesome cooked breakfast each morning and we enjoyed this chance o get to know the other guests, interesting all. My wife swam in the Seward High School pool, where Lydia Jacoby had trained, the day I was out salmon fishing. Huge thanks to the owners and staff for a highlight of our first Alaska trip. It will not be our last.

Bear Lake Lodgings is a wonderful place to stay while visiting Seward. We stayed in the Lakeside suite with our family of four. I enjoyed my coffee each morning on the deck facing the lake. It was so peaceful and serene. The use of the kayaks and canoes is great. Breakfast was good and we even got to go breakfast one morning since we had a 7:30 kayaking reservation. The nightly ice cream bars are amazing. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Seward.

We had such a wonderful stay at the Bear Lake Lodge. Pat and Dennis were so welcoming and generous with their time and knowledge. The home-cooked breakfasts were amazing and the hand-dipped ice creams legendary. The lake made for a gorgeous backyard and Pat let us take the kayaks out even after we had checked out for the day. Thank you for everything!!

We really enjoyed staying here. The innkeepers were very personable and gave us more insight into the history of the area. Loved hearing the stories! The food was good and the ice cream was a perk! It was also nice to meet other people and hear their stories. Very comfortable rooms to boot.
