My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time. We were traveling through Alaska and loved the comfy bed after spending a couple days halibut fishing in Homer. Margie, the housekeeper, treated us like royalty and was fun to hang out with. We went hiking nearby on the lost lake trail which was fantastic. We used the house canoe to go around Bear Lake and saw lots of salmon and a bald eagle. We were so busy we ended up having the ice cream treat and a couple of beers for dinner each night, more than enough! With the prices of other hotels in the area this was a steal.

Would highly recommend staying here! The place was clean. The views were beautiful. There was a lot to do. The girls kayaked while we watched from the dock or decks. We played Pictionary and cards at night. We loved the dipped ice cream treats. Yum! Margie made it comfortable and made a great breakfast every morning. Would highly recommend it.

An amazing place to stay near Seward, very warm and feels like home. Margie was an amazing inn keeper, fun to talk to, and made great breakfast. Has a great view of Bear Lake and they even let you use their kayaks or canoes! Make sure to talk to Dennis and Pat, the owners, if they stop by because they have so many amazing stories to share! The bed was also comfy, I have nothing negative to say about this place.

I stumbled upon this place while planning and replanning our trip to Alaska. I contacted the establishment and received a phone call within a few hours to answer my questions. That impressed me right from the start. Pat was very friendly and helpful. I am very happy that we decided to stay here rather than the hotel in Seward. The setting was quiet and peaceful. We were permitted to use the kayaks, but we didn't take advantage of them. When we arrived, we were greeted by Margie, the "multi purpose" help. She explained everything to us. She showed us the recommended list of restaurants, and since we were the only ones staying there that night, she said she'd wait until we returned to serve the gourmet ice cream bars which guests may have each night between 8 and 8:30. We had vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate and coated with oreos or almonds. It was delicious! We had to be out early the next morning, so Margie left a "to go" breakfast box in the guest refrigerator for us. She also told us that we can stop at Pat and Dennis' gourmet ice cream stand and have more options than she offered at the B&B. We did that, and apparently we are the first guests to find the ice cream stand in Seward. I'm not sure why, as it was right down the street from Chinook's. We happened to be driving past on our way back from our sea kayak trip when I noticed the stand. We stopped at the stand after dinner, and I had rainbow sprinkles instead of oreos. My husband had some kind of flavored almonds on huckleberry ice cream rather than the regular almonds and vanilla ice cream the first night. The ice cream is delicious! The room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable. The downstairs family room area was very pleasant, relaxing, and appealing. The dining area was also comfortable and attractive. Margie was very friendly and helpful and prepared a great breakfast of apple cinnamon French toast and a fresh fruit cup. It was delicious and filling. She showed us the bears that she saw that morning outside her window, which had the same view as our window. Unfortunately we looked out an hour later so we missed seeing the brown bear family walking by. Margie took our picture outside on the dock before we left. She also contacted us immediately when she found my husband's Kindle that he left on the table. Thankfully we were still in Seward and were able to return to pick it up before traveling back to Anchorage. We enjoyed talking with Pat and Dennis at their ice cream stand, and my husband had a long conversation with Dennis back at the house the second evening. Pat, Dennis, and Margie were perfect hosts/hostesses. I highly recommend this establishment for your lodging in Seward. I would return to stay here again in a heartbeat.

I can't stop thinking about how wonderful it was to visit Bear Lake Lodgings! One of the best parts of staying here is that you get to take the kayaks/canoes out on the lake as part of your stay. The entire area is just gorgeous! We got to see brown bears, eagles, ducks, and were served amazing homemade gourmet ice cream bars at night and a delicious breakfast in the morning! The beds were very comfortable, they think of everything to you make you feel very much at home. Book as many nights as you can, you won't want to leave and you'll think of it fondly when you do!
