We stayed at Kona Makai in October when it was super humid... The condo had everything we needed.. it was a one bedroom with a loft ..my daughter really enjoyed sleeping upstairs in the loft ..the air conditioning was great ..the view is spectacular.. you could hear the ocean waves crashing at night... We loved sitting out on the patio... More

We stayed in this condo the first time we visited Kona over 10 years ago. We have been back to Kona many times, but this is the first chance we've had to stay here again. It has been remodeled and is better than we remembered it. We love the views, the sound of the ocean, the privacy, and the well-manicured... More

My wife and I stayed at the Kona Makai for a month (Parts of March and April 2016). Its an okay place if you intend to sleep only. Before renting ask about the house rules but don't worry when you get there they are posted all over the buildings and grounds. You cant be on your lanai after 9pm, don't... More

My husband and I rented condo #5-207 a at the Kona Makai resort March 15 - April 15, 2016. The unit was very nice and had everything we needed for an extended stay on The Big Island including a full kitchen with a great selection of pots/pans/dishes and a washer & dryer. My husband and I are 73 and 63... More

Kona Makai 5-301 We stayed in this unit December 2015 and had a great vacation. The grounds are kept very tidy, and maintenance appears to take place once a week. FYI: the lawnmowers and weed whackers were fired up at 8am so don't plan on sleeping in when they arrive every Wed & Thurs. The pool and hot tub are... More

BUYER BEWARE...If you are traveling to this property it IS NOT family/kid friendly. The property mamagement mislead us and there was a lot of incorrect information given to us about the property. There isn't "high speed internet", the pool is only open until 8pm for children and from 8pm-9pm for adults only. The complex quiet hours start at 9pm and... More

We stayed the week before Xmas week 2015. The complex is private, secure and hidden away (but easy to find from the directions provided). There is access directly onto the water from , swimming pool, recycling ping pong and bbqs. The apartment itself was clean and tidy with a kitchen full of all the things you need. It is a... More

This was our fourth stay at Kona Makai. It is always beautiful and so well kept. Love the gorgeous grounds. We stay in the end units with wrap around balconies. You can't beat the views. I can sit on the lanai all day and never tire of it. Watching all the dolphins swim by. The fishing tournaments get started. Cruise... More

I have been staying here for 3 months and have been thoroughly enjoying myself. The complex is right on the ocean (though like many beaches on the island contain lava rock) and has a pool & hot tub. The grounds are impeccable! They really take care of this place. The property's manager Bud is super nice as well. If you're... More
