We have been here 3 times in the last 6 years. This resort never disappoints. It is close to Kailua Kona. To enjoy the Big Island, you must rent a car! Explore the island, there are black, white and green sand beaches. The volcano is breath taking... the views are picturesque... you can even see whales playing on the beach....

We absolutely loved this place. When we went to book our trip, it showed up on Travelocity and looked too good to be true. We loved the idea of all the space, so (after looking it up on here) we decided to book it. When we got to the resort, Ms. Guillermo (can't remember her first name) was extremely welcoming...

Suite was enormous with a full kitchen. Buildings appear identical to the Mauna Loa Resort next door (I think they were once the same resort). Should be a great place for an extended stay. Resort is not beachfront, but is near the ocean with a currently unobstructed view for sunsets. The land in between appears to be slated for a...

Our family (2 adults/2 children) stayed here in May in a 2 bdrm townhouse. I had researched a lot of properties before picking this one, based on reviews here. Turned out to be a great choice. With a price per night of around $140 + tax, the 2 brdm townhouse far exceeded our expectations. Immaculate units, with bedrooms downstairs and...

I booked this hotel because of its location and price. Hotel exceeded my expectations. This property is well maintained with a lot of amenities for the price. Free parking, kitchens, patios, grocery store nearby, golf course and ocean views, and great landscaping. Nice pool areas. A little challenging to find, but it is next to the Sheraton.

We gave our daughter and son-in-law a belated honeymoon at the Holua. We have stayed there on three trips. We have had excellent service each time. This time the resort did not live up to their responsibilities. We were to receive housekeeping each day but only got it one day. We were to receive a daily newspaper did not receive...

We stayed at the resort for one week and had such a great time. Aside from snorkeling and boogie boarding, we found a surprise activity we also enjoyed and that was feeding the feral cats on the property. My 11 and 13 yr. old daughters loved feeding the cats and although most of the cats were skittish, one in particular,...

We found this on hotwire. Great deal, clean, nice surroundings, great staff! Interesting finding - called the front desk about the air conditioner. Seemed like by our third day, it wasn't cooling the place down. They were very assuring - would check into it right away. Got a message back from them later that day that they only guarantee that...

The room layout is spacious. It was helpful to have washer/dryer and fully stocked kitchen in room. The resort location and facilities are good. However, the rooms were not clean. They scheduled one cleaning durin our week stay, but never came or if they did, did not clean. Also didn't change linens. Good place for families but don't expect to...

We didn't walk to any snorkeling areas, but it was a quick 5 minute drive to Kahalu'u Beach Park which had great snorkeling. We even saw green sea turtles there!

Hi Yuki L,

We estimate building 17-21 to be completed by the end of August but that is just an estimate (shipping delays could affect the schedule slightly). Most of the work involves replacement of furniture, window treatments and carpeting so we do not anticipate a lot of noise. No major construction work is involved in this renovation.

Thank you!

Our renovation is scheduled to take place between June and October and will include replacement of carpet, sofabeds, coffee tables, end tables, dressers, dining room table and chairs, occasional chairs, bed mattresses, headboards, drapery and blinds and televisions. We are also planning to upgrade our WiFi later this year, install new electronic door locks and update our in-unit telephone system. As far as the extrior upgrades are concerned, our pool areas are getting a facelift with interior surface coating as well as new pool decking. We have a busy year ahead and hope you will be able to enjoy some of the upgrades that we have planned. Unfortunately, none of the interior unit ungrades will be completed by April, however.

Our favorite snorkeling area is Kahaluu Beach Park which just under 2 miles from the Holua Resort. It would be possible to walk there, but it would be easier to drive or bike. We like Kahaluu Beach Park because the bay is sheltered by a break water and the bay is shallow. If you're a novice swimmer or you don't like to be in over your head it's great since one can stand up nearly everywhere during low tide. There are lots of fish in the bay, and the water is warmer since it's shallow.

There is a boat launch area a 5 minute walk down the hill from Holua. One can rent canoes there, and there are manta rays nearby. We haven't snorkeled around there, but one would think you could canoe to where the manta rays hang out (in front of the hotel next door: Sheraton?) and see some great stuff.

I hope that helps, and enjoy your vacation!

Public beaches are scattered along west coast of island. Some are rocky, some sandy. Be prepared for big waves on windy days. Young children should be supervised.
