We had booked a trip to Hawaii abut had no chance to go due to travel restrictions. We tried to cancel the reservation but got no reply on that. The hotel even took the amount for one night and asked us for our stay afterwords. Now we have to clearify it with ouer loyer... Woukld never book again!!!
What a view from 402! Unfortunately much of what we experienced speaks to neglect. The property seems to have suffered over the years, from lack of maintenance. It is clean, but we noticed at least 10 exterior walls in the building, and in the parking structure, that had wires sticking out! The north gate to the pool doesn't lock (appears frozen in rust), and one late afternoon a young trio (not guests) decided the pool was the perfect place to take turns posing in evocative positions, taking pictures of each other in thong bikinis and topless, and drinking from a bottle of vodka. This went on for an hour. The ceiling in the elevator has peeling plastic or something coming down. Unit 402 is better, but still suffers from neglect. Despite signs reminding guests that there is no dishwashing service, it was disturbing to see how many dishes were filthy. The cabinets were so cluttered it was difficult to get things out. And 5 different sizes of bowls but no salad plates. The content of the cabinets needs review and thinning to make them manageable. Very disappointed with the lack of spices, condiments, very poorly stocked - which is quite unusual compared to similar accommodations. The bed frame squeaks, just seems very old. There were numerous broken tiles on the outside lanai, and the metal flashing at the edge of the lanai is falling off. With so many things just feeling worn, neglected and even unsafe, although we love the Kona Bali Kai we won't be back until the entire condominium complex has had a facelift.…
Room was dated. Everything needed updating. Tub was disgusting. Air conditioning didn’t work. One towel per person anymore you had to pay a fee. TV had lines across the bottom. Extra fees not expected once we checked in. Office only open 8 to 5. Much better and less expensive places to stay in Kona. Don’t make the mistake we made by staying here. Bed was comfy only good thing about this old tired room. There is $110 cleaning fee not disclosed to us till check in. There was an inch of dust in the unit at check in. Also my email confirm had a nightly rate much less then they tried to charge me at check in. The parking space assigned to our room had a stored vehicle on it.
The whole experience was less than desirable. First, we arrived around 5:00PM only to find there are no staff on duty at that time. The location of our building (3) was difficult to find and parking was very confusing. Once we found our room, I could not figure out how to get the air conditioning to work. The room was very disappointing and nothing like the photos on Agoda and Trip Advisor. Only 1 set of towels were allowed for a stay of 8 days, additional towels were available for a fee. The location was good, and perhaps if we were in the main building the experience would have been much better. On the brighter side, there is a convenience store next door, the ocean is across the street, and the site does have a pool and bbq grills. Would I stay there again? No! But that being said, if I had stayed in one of the units pictured on their website, Agoda, or Trip Advisor, perhaps I would stay there again.…
We were able to enjoy the birds singing outside of our room, and walk a short distance to see turtles and surfers along the back of the condo. The best part is being able to go to the pool early in the morning for some sun and then transitioning to the grassy area in the back next to the water for afternoon sun and the sunset with unobstructed views.
