We have been guests of the Marina Hotel for 8 years. Friendly and accommodating staff, excellent food and proximity to the place of residence are the main reasons why we are loyal guests. Praise goes to the reception staff, cooks, waiters, valets and everyone else that we inadvertently did not mention. Working all day, the staff strives and succeeds in pleasing all guests and their wishes. As for the food, the offer deserves all the praise. The breakfast and dinner buffet is truly an unforgettable gastronomic experience. Outstanding food in more than sufficient quantities will remain the benchmark when compared to other hotels. Of course, we will continue to come to Hotel Marina and recommend it to our relatives and friends.

This is a lovely small hotel within one hundred feet of the sea. We stayed three nights in August 2018. We booked the same day (that is, last minute) through TripAdvisor. Breakfast and parking were included. Breakfast, served from 7 am to 10 am was generous, with your choice of 3 types of eggs, meats, grilled vegetables, granola, breads, pastries, fruit, yogurts and much more. Our room was very clean, comfortable and well appointed, and of course, the view of the sea was spectacular! The front desk staff was friendly and extremely helpful. They not only were fluent in English, but we heard German and Italian often spoken as well. We spent two glorious days enjoying the hotel's beach umbrellas and chaise lounges (for a small additional charge each day, but well worth it). We also ate dinner twice at the hotel. The first night we devoured the grilled meat plate for two. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The second evening we shared a delicate and delicious thin crust pizza. One word of advice: the Delphin bar accepts cash payment only (no cards). On rereading this review, it seems focused on the food, but our meals were part of the hotel experience. The rates may be pricy in comparison to other accommodations and cities, but all in all, no regrets!

The hotel classifies themselves as 4stars but it is more like 2-3 stars for me.

The location is fine for those who have cars. They have enough space in parking lot.
- If you plan to go there by bus, make sure you ask bus driver to drop you at the beginning of Selce (as soon as the bus leaves Crikvenica), instead of at "Selce" bus stop.

It is located in the middle way between Crikvenica and Selce. There is a small local supermarket, just next to the hotel. It took less than 10 minutes walking to Selce city center, where there are supermarket (Konsum), shops, and restaurants. To walk to Crikvenica takes longer time than to Selce with nothing but tiny beaches on the way.

The reception staff is always the nicest.

The hotel room is old-furnished. Bed and pillow are fine. The sofa and seats in the room are too old to be comfortable (no enough soft material inside.)

TV is pretty small and old but is still usable. There are mostly local channels with a couple of German channels. An only English channel is CNN.

In-room safe box is pretty old and a bit more complicated to use than nowadays safe box in other hotels i had visited. It did not work as written in the instructions.

Bathroom is pretty clean. They provide soap and shampoo + 2 glasses, nothing else. The glass partition on Bathtub is too old and doesn't glue to bathtub anymore. This made the floor pretty much wet and the shower massage facility in the shower cannot be used because it made the floor very wet. The hair dryer is so poor that I had to give up before my hair is really dry...everyday.

There is no Wi-fi available in the room at all, but they have LAN cable for Notebook. (and I am writing in 2013 where everybody carries only their smartphone!) The Wi-fi at the lobby is extremely good. I had no problem watching stuff on Youtube.

Breakfast is pretty good in European standard if you stay their only for 1-2 nights, but it is the same everyday and is pretty much boring if you stay longer than that and if you prefer a full-meal breakfast like me. The choices for hot food are boiled egg, a boiled sausage, beacon, scramble egg, and a fried sausage. Salami, ham, cheese are the cold choices.

There are a couple of choices for bread and 2-3 kinds of sweets (pie/cake) without toaster :-(

There are 2 kinds of jams + something like Nutella + 2-3 pastes. For the drink, they got a couple of choices for tea and coffee with hot milk and hot water provided. There are also 4-5 kinds of yoghurt, 3 kinds of dried fruits, and 2-3 kinds of cornflakes. There is also option of fruits. Lastly, they got water, apple juice and orange juice..all from the same machine.

One thing I don't like about breakfast room is that the tables with good view are all reserved from longer-stay guests. When I came early for breakfast, I did not get a chance to get window seat. I could get window seat when I came late after a group of guests already used that table. They reserve tables the whole morning. This is terrible because they mostly come late for breakfast and the tables have to be left-over the whole 1-2 hours unused. They should just let the guest choose the table with first-come-first-serve basis or at least write down on the table which time the table will be used (which I know that it's not possible to let them do that during holiday)

I also find that the staff in the breakfast/dinning room look unfriendly most of the time.

There are many tiny public beaches next to the hotel. Those nearby beaches do not have rental umbrella and chairs. If you would like to rent them, you have to walk further to the other larger noisy beaches.

I like those tiny beaches close to the hotel. They are all rock beaches, no sandy beach. The sea water was extremely clear! The facility nearby is very nice for family with small children. It was nice there. However, it would be pretty much more peaceful if there are no children/teenagers staying at the next-door camp. They were very noisy at the beach and we hear them from hotel room.

Stayed here in June 2013 on a touring trip with our own car. Plenty of parking available. Good location yards from the sea. No beaches.
Rooms well appointed with sea views and balcony.
Restaurant was adequate with buffet meals and food was good. Breakfast can be eaten outside on the restaurant balcony.
Quite location with sun lounge area and comfortable loungers.
Most clients went to the sea front area which is concrete platforms with sea access.
English spoken in reception but bar staff etc not.

My partner and I visited, booking 1 night, until we seen the room , wow. Spacious clean great facilities. Fantastic view. Parking. You must book in before parking as they need to give a card for car park. Fantastic location. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Have recommended.

Well-located and a superb view over the sea. We enjoyed sun-downers every day. Since were there for motorcycle tours. The service was very friendly but sometimes slow. In contrast to other comments here, I found breakfast (service and food) very good. Dinner was ok, but not sophisticated, e.g no dressing on the salad and oil/vinegar only at the buffet. We had buffet on the first evening and that was a disappointment with cold food and not all dishes replenished. The choice of local wines is very good, the same for the wines themselves. The rooms were large and clean but the massage shower could water the complete bath in seconds. The hotel's beach was croatian-like nice if one wants to cope with it with concrete and some gravel. The receptionists were helpful but overstrained with a simple split of a bill. Resumée: We would stay in the hotel again, avoid the dinner buffet, enjoy the sundowner and hope that meanwhile the management reads the ratings and renovates the bathrooms.

Stayed one night. The hotel is in a terrific location right across the narrow street from the Adriatic. Parking was free. We had an ocean view room with veranda. Wonderful views across to the Islands and also to Selce Marina. Selce is located a few kilometers off the main highway so it is very quiet. Our room was clean, large and modern and well equipped. Only negative was that the aircon seemed to be controlled by the front desk as the wall thermostat had no effect. The room was too warm for me as it faced the afternoon sun. Two complaints to the front desk only brought it down a few degrees. The rest of the experience was very nice. Big indoor pool/sauna. No beach per se, but a concrete area with ladders to enter the water. If you want to sunbathe, bring a few extra towels to cushion. Restaurant in hotel was just average. Buffet was a bit limited, but adequate. Front desk staff professional and efficient. Would definitely return, but only after confirming that I get to control the temperature in my room.
