Having previously stayed at a Melia hotel in Menorca that provided excellent food and service, we choose the Sol Umag in Croatia expecting the same standard. Unfortunately for use even though there are lots of plus points, the food was a disappointment. We'd booked the hotel for a week and found the food, although a good standard, very repetitive. Having stayed at a Melia resort before, we were expecting a far better choice of foods. The main courses were varied each evening but the accompaniments, sides, desserts, fruit and salad selection was repeated daily and offered little choice. Waiting for drinks in the dining room was also very slow. Breakfast was the same every morning, with ample choice but little variation. On a plus point the hotel is in a great location, is exceptionally clean and had great staff. There is ample parking too if you are driving. Just a same that the food was so monotonous, but maybe we were spoilt in the previous Melia hotel.

a cozy hotel with a wellness center that offers 3 saunas and 3 wellness pools with indoor classic and outdoor swimming pool. the hotel is located in a quiet location and only 15 minutes away from the city of Umag on foot. A pleasant walk by the sea is great for relaxing. breakfast and dinner are varied and great tastes. The staff is excellent, comfortable and professionally trained for their work. Coming next in Umag, I will surely look for a room in this hotel.

We have stayed in Sol Umag for 3 nights in October and it was really good. Stuff is pleasant, the rooms are warm and bright and have a nice sea view. We have used an only indoor pool, water was very warm and the baby enjoyed it. Cot is free of charge but there was no mattress in our case, so we improvised. Food is excellent, the great number of different types of food, as well as dietary and gluten-free. Outside of the hotel is also cool, so many green points and a lot of playgrounds for kids on the way to the city center.

I've spent 4 nights in this hotel and it was so nice. After arrival, I met very friendly people at the reception. Ready to help you, explain everything and answer your question. If you are coming by car you can park 15mins in front of the hotel, the same before departure. The main park place is 2 mins walk, behind the tennis court. The glass of champagne as a welcome drink in the lobby bar. My room was on the 1st floor, with the view on the sea. Just enough for 2 persons, cleaned every day. There was no balcony, but it was no issue for me. Breakfast and dinner with the good choice. Served at the groundfloor restaurant with the garden area outside. There is a queue during the dinner, people are waiting for the main course and the second place with the main course is free. It would be fine to inform guests that they can use both places. The menu was really tasty - soups, fishes, pasta&pizza, potatoes, vegetable, fruits, sweets, ice cream. If you want you can relax in the spa, but it's better to book your time there. You can use the indoor swimming pool as well. There is a small gym, but I recommend the hotel management to pay more attention to the equipment. Except for the treadmill other equipment needs some oil and service. If you like running it's a great place, the way around the beach. There is the outdoor swimming pool, with the sunbeds and parasols, free at the swimming pool and paid on the beach. Btw the beach with sand is 5mins. walk. If you go to the city, Umag, you can walk (2km) or you wait for the city train or use the bike from the park&ride system. I have to say that I really enjoy my short staying there.
