We spent summer vacation in rhis hotel with our 7yo daughter. Hotel is all inclusive so lets start : Food was great, all inclusive serving only domestic products has totaly diffrent meaning in Croatia, all the drinks were excelent...
Animation team was excellent Valentina and Ivan esspecialy our daughter love it.
Hotel offers bikes to rent for free which we found very convinince and we ware changing the beaches every day by bike. There is a lot of nice beaches in the sorruonding. Rooms ware very clean and nice. Furniture was a bit oldfashion but we did not mind it. Parking was big enough and most important it has a shade :)
Overall expirience was totaly fine.

We where here for three days to relax, so we choose the all in package. Price is okay, but don't expect much.
First point goes away for their coffee supply: Dark liquid comes out of a tap in the wall.... Disgusting. Outside they have expensive (looking) coffee machines, but whatever you order they serve espresso. Double they call Americano, a lot of foam on top its their Cappuccino.
Second point goes away for the overall cheapness. Restaurant is a canteen, loud, uncomfortable. Food is okay, but that's it. Why not cut the the pizza in even slices???? Drinks are terribly sweet. The cocktail bar is a Desaster, as they have no clue on cocktail. No, whiskey-cola is not a cocktail.
Adria is directly at the hotel, see picture from the outside Terrasse. Beautiful, the outside pool is nice, they serve food nearly all the time somewhere.
They have an outside stage and entertainment but really keep the noise under control!
Typical resort for German retireds (I'm German, too).

As usual, I had a good read of a lot of negative reviews before we booked and ignored most of them . Hotel is a bit old fashioned in places but it’s kept so clean you don’t mind. People complain about no sun beds but I’m writing this pool side in 30 degree heat and there are plenty of free beds if you get out of bed before 10! Staff at front desk are as friendly as any I’ve met and if you actually take time to engage with some of the others it’s the same.
Food, yes it’s busy at peak hours but if you don’t like it busy, eat outside these times. Some have commented the food is the same but you get a good choice all day. My only negative comment would be the aircon in the bedroom wasn’t good and I couldn’t sleep but would just have a long nap poolside.
So if you come here and look for negatives you’ll find them but as I’m here on holiday I thoroughly enjoyed the positives.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights with 2 children. Fistly, I checked in online as per the email sent to me by the hotel but that was of no use because the hotek said that we anyway need to check in and provide all documentation again. The room was on the firts floor with a nice view of the pool and sea. The staff hardly speak english so you may struggle to even get a drink. There are so many negative sin this hotel that I do not even know where to start from. The room was not cleaned properly and had hair strands in the bed, bath and floor. There was dust on the radiators. The curtain had come off. WHen I complained I was told that nothing could be done until the next day. They did eventually fix the curtains and when I tried to talk to a manager, i was told that the manager is unavailable on weekends.
The food is definitely the worst I have ever had.It is seriously the worst food you can imagine. The drinks are rubbish and their cocktails ie pre built cocktails which come from a tap are a joke. By the second day, all 4 of us were sick after eating the food. The pool looks nice but is not cleaned properly, I would seriously advise against staying in this hotel and would actually rate this hotel to be the worst hotel I may have ever been to

Hotel is built in beautifall place, full of green. Main area of lobby and reception is nice, modern, wellcoming. It is contract to quite retro furnished room. However, we dont mind, room was big enought and clean. We got room with terrace on groundfloor. There was retro fridge and little damaged bath tube but it was working. I recommed to add some holder for wet clothes and towels to balconies.
Area of hotel is very nice, spacious and always clean. Nice pools with lifeguard, mini club with very friendly girls. Food was perfect. Dining room is little bit old fashioned but as I say food is tasty, good variety of fruits, deserts. In restaurant you can draft also drinks. What management can improve is position of main - warm tables buffet. It is on the beggining od dining room, and very quickly there is a line of people. Cold buffets were on 2 or 3 places, there was no waiting. During day from 11 to 5 there is also snack bar close pools. Some cakes, fruits, waffles... we really enjoyed nice and warm see. Sunbeds, umbrellas around pool and in garden. Nice animation for kids and evening program. I would only suggest to change bar management. In the morning bar was open only i lobby. During day poll bar was working but only to 5 pm. It was quite strange that they spend time to clean that bar and transfer everything inside. And again only lobby bar was working. People were waiting in hotel hall what i consider very strange. We have to leave earlier than we planned therefore i couldnt try thai massage and cycles which are for free. I would like to come back and i recommend hotel and area for my friend and also in travel groups. For your money you get nice serviece.

Very large hotel. When we arrived it was not full but more people arrived daily. Although there were queues for the bar and food they coped very well.
Room was basic but clean and all we needed.
Food was delicious. Lots of veggies, salads, fish, pasta and meats.
Dessertslooked lovely but not so tasty.. although plenty of variety andnice hazelnut icecream.
Good staff. Loved the free bike hire.
The wine on all inclusivewas perfectly drinkable.
Evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss but all in all had a great time.

The Sol Aurora Hotel is more attractive inside than the plain exterior might suggest. Rooms are large, modern and well-furnished. We arrived late in the evening and a salad supper and dessert was waiting in our room. The restaurant has an extensive buffet at breakfast and dinner, with very reasonably priced drinks. Half-board was excellent value for money. We ate out at lunch-time and found menus to be very similar in most restaurants with an Italian influence. Local bakeries sell delicious bread and pastries.

The hotel is set within a tourist complex and is certainly 2.5k outside the town along the main road, but in a lovely location surrounded by pines. There was no impact of the many nearby apartments because of the spacious grounds.

The hotel is popular with older couples in low season when those with children might find there's not enough to do. Activities seem to be available at the nearby apartment complex. The Istrian coast is beautiful, and it is possible to do a day-trip to Venice at just under £50.

In the first week of the season (early May) the tourist train was not running, but the hotel provided a free minibus twice a day to Umag. There are flat walks along the sea-front where there will be more snack-bars open in the high season and it is possible to walk into the town if you're very fit and determined. Bicycles and skates are available to hire nearby. I would recommend car-hire. We had a brand-new car at a good price. There is plenty to see in the area - Rovinj and Porec are attractive small towns. Pula is worth a visit, but is a bit further. Do abide by the speed-limits as there are spot-checks on the motorway as well as in town. With clear road-signs it is an easy trip up to Slovenia, but don't forget to use headlights all the time.

This part of Croatia has beautiful scenery and is not yet spoilt by tourism. Bearing in mind that it's only 2 hours from London, it will surely re-emerge as a highly desirable destination for those wanting a relaxing holiday.

Stayed at the Sol Aurora 25.7.06 for a week. What can we say!!?? The Hotel is situated 50-100m from the sea. The hotel is clean and modern inside - recently refurbished we think. The public areas are all air conditioned and the bedrooms too! The bedrooms are cleaned daily, always fresh towels. The bar is inside with a seating area outside on the terrace, very relaxing! Although we didnt spend much time at the pool, it was very nice. There are a couple of nice cafe bars close by for lunch - typical price for a pizza was 290 kunas (about £2.90) -plenty for 2 people. We went half board and couldnt complain about anything. Every evening meal, you had a choice of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, pizzas and freshly cooked fish. The kitchen was "open" so things were cooked in front of you too. Great Sweet bar where you help yourself to cakes and Italian ice-cream!!! Outside the Hotel is a mini train that takes you to the next little complex (by the tennis courts) and then onto Umag itself (about 2.5km away) the cost was £1.00 each way - worth it. There is no beach but a concrete platform (with slope/steps into the sea) full of sunbeds and parasols. Never had to look long for a sunbed even if you go down later in the day - always a parasol too! Recommend the Day Trip to Venice. It costs about £49.00 each, takes 3hrs on the boat but worth every penny (we went on the gondola and water taxi too for a few pounds). Not too many Brits in Croatia, mainly Germans, Italians and Russians (and nuddies!)
Basically we cannot speak highly enough of this Hotel (and Croatia itself) - attention to detail was amazing. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Would go back again.

If it is the aim of hotels in Croatia such as the Sol Aurora to provide for their guests the most pleasant environment possible then they should credit themselves with a resounding success.
Set amid pine trees, off the main road, virtually car-free, this pleasant well appointed air-conditioned hotel furnished us with excellent food, friendly and helpful service, a hard- working entertainment staff and overall value for money. Our only gripe -and this was no fault of the hotel - was the transfer time from Pula. Weather was wonderful and we returned happy and relaxed.

I have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Aurora Hotel in Umag. Before booking I read previous reviews, which persuaded me to book my holiday. How disappointed I was by the present reality of the hotel. The flight to Pula was late in arriving which meant I arrived late at the hotel. I was given a room which was dirty and the air conditioning did not work . I was given another room but this room was also dirty. The third room I was given was acceptable but not four star standard. On the day we arrived , the hotel was hosting a corporate 4 day sports event which meant the hotel was busy and noisy but not unacceptably so. On the same day the next week, another group arrived - a very large group. It made the hotel very noisy and other guests took second place in the dining room, as a good part of it was cordoned off for the group's sole use. This made the rest of the dining room cramped.for space. The staff did their best to clear tables but really were understaffed for the number of guests.
For the next three nights we were woken up between 2-3am by people talking/singing at the top of their voices, obviously drunk. On the 3rd night this happened, my husband opened the door to ask them to be quiet and was met with a large group of drunk people with bottles in their hands. We phoned reception to ask someone to come - the young man on reception clearly did not know what to do. The hotel clearly did not have any security and goodness knows what would have happened if the group had turned nasty. The group went into one of their rooms to continue to party . I finally managed to get to sleep and was awoken by someone banging the door shut in the room next to ours and throwing up in the bathroom ( I hope!). Another night with little sleep!
We spoke to the manager next morning who apologised for the noise but said the group were hear for games and to party. He said he had had complaints from others but had clearly no intention of speaking to the group about the noise. He knew some were having all night parties in their rooms . He appeared to think this was acceptable and advised us to claim compensation. We told him if the same thing happened again we would call the police as the hotel was clearly not capable of protecing us. Fortunately, the group left that day.

Clearly, this situation left us tired and disillusioned. However, we booked three tours and thoroughly enjoyed them and seeing Croatia. The guides put a lot of effort into these tours.

The food at the hotel is bland but you will not starve. The staff, as usual , were helpful, friendly and polite. The hotel is not a 4 star hotel and not even a good 3 star.

As we were leaving , another group arrived for 4 days of games and partying. I think this must be a new arrangment for this hotel and no other review mentioned these groups. We were all glad to be leaving and I felt sorry for some of the guests we had got to know and were leaving behind.

The manager of this hotel needs to make up his mind what he wants his hotel to be - a tourist hotel or a hotel for Croatians to come and play games and party in for 4 days.

I am writing this review to warn people of what might happen to them if these groups continue to come to this hotel.

In smart shorts he will be positively overdressed. In the bar area a sign says no swim wear but the rule is not adhered to. I suspect the dining room area expects men to wear tops as I have never seen any man without a shirt/t-shirt
