Travelers' Choice
Our 4-star hotel, grown on the tradition of Istrian hospitality, offers modern outlook on the Mediterranean. Unimposing, but well-appointed, Hotel Maestral puts the accent on simple enjoyment. With 308-room capacity, abundant hotel facilities, vicinity of the beach for daily enjoyment of sea and sun, as well as the vicinity of Novigrad for evening outings and relaxation, Hotel Maestral will delight you. The sign of bike-hotel points the guest to the stay in a hotel which is additionally equipped to welcome cyclists and is, beside other things, ideal for stays by smaller or larger groups of cyclists, as a starting point of their cyclist trail throughout Istria. Since it is only 150 metres away from the sea, Maestral will particularly suit those who wish to spend every moment of their holiday on the beach, using their holiday for swimming, sunbathing and water sports. On the other hand, only 800 meters divides it from the picturesque small town of Novigrad, tickling every curious guest by different summer events, inviting him for an occasional outing to the town. A doctor's surgery is just 300 metres away from the Hotel and can be useful should you travel with children or groups of youths.

We have been on holiday at Aminess Novigrad for the past ten days. We will leave tomorrow and we are so thankful for the wonderful holiday. Not only the hotel and our room was beautiful, but especially the people. The entire team, both at reception, as well as in the restaurant and at the bar under the direction of Tihomir Kramaric, was very friendly and gave us as guests a great holiday. We say thank you from the bottom of our hearts and will definitely recommend you.

We stayed at the hotel for the first week in August, it was full and very busy but we found that all of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The pool and bar area where beautiful with lots of places to sit, it wasn't always possible to get a lounger but there was always a table and chairs around the bar. the location was perfect with a lovely sea side walk way into the town and the infinity pool with a bar next to it was a perfect spot to watch the sun go down. Our room was quite small and I would have preferred a double bed rather than two singles but it was clean and comfortable which was all we needed as we spent very little time there. The food was very good. i thought that there was something for everyone with a specific area for fish, vegetarians and meat plus a pizza/italian section and plenty of fresh fruit and salads. All in all we had a great time and would go back again.

We stayed her for 10 nights 24th September - 05th October. We arrived early and as expected rooms weren't ready and we were told we could only check in at 15:30 and directed to the pool bar where the bar staff were very friendly and attentive. Whilst sat there we noticed that there were seagull in the pool which we thought strange because we had never seen this anywhere else we had been on holiday. At half three we went up to check in which was nice and easy and we were told we would have to come down for dinner early but the following evenings would be the later sitting which some members of our group were disgruntled about. We later discovered that this was due to the fact the hotel were holding a wedding until 4am and would be using a large portion of the restaurant and staff for this. I understand that they hold functions but hotel guests are also paying guests and shouldn't be shunted around and we would soon learn this sort of thing was going to become a regular situation in the evening (I will expand further down on this). Upon arriving in our room the toilet hadn't been cleaned yet the staff had put the seal across the door to say it had been. The toilet still had urine in it and on it. We went and spoke to reception to get this sorted but the house keeping didn't seem very happy about having to come back up and clean it. Rooms are quite small in size but adequate enough. The hotel runs an eco scheme whereby if you hang the bag out that is on the handle on the door before midnight they will know you don't require the room cleaning and will put a surprise in the bag as a thank you. Not entirely sure what was going on with the air con but the first week we were at the hotel it worked but then on the second week it wouldn't switch on which makes me assume the hotel had switched it off throughout. This made sleeping quite unpleasant as the room would go between 25 - 27 degrees in the night which was hotter than outside most days. We booked our holiday through TUI on a half board basis, wish we hadn't but to some extent it was a good job we did as come 1st October restaurants in Novigrad began to shut. The first evening we had to eat early due to the wedding being held and upon entering you are greeted by a very pleasant gentleman who explains how the service works and finds you a table. We noticed that it was self service which in light of the current world situation we weren't overly pleased about. Food was very repetitive and generally there was pork every evening (not great if you don't eat pork...) and guests seem to be incompetent of using the correct serving spoons/tongs for meats, cheeses and vegetables if you're a vegetarian and don't like the idea of your food products being contaminated this isn't the hotel for you as guests have no regard for anyone other than themselves we found and it got to the point they didn't even use the tongs to get bread/ cheese and were just picking things up with their hands (COVID?!?) nothing was said to these people either. No one followed the social distancing in place and hand sanitiser was only really available as you walked into the restaurant. We stayed in Turkey last year and have to say the set up there for food was far better, food and plates were behind plastic screens and it was served to you by chefs to avoid multiple people touching the serving utensils which in my opinion worked better, avoided mounds of waste and was more sanitary/ covid safe. During our stay multiple coach trips turned up and this again began to cause issues at breakfast/ dinner as the hotel was reserving whole sections of the restaurant for these guests but this then meant that there weren't enough tables for other guests. On our final evening dinner was chaos because of this it got to the point that the waiters were having to drag tables in from the outside to be able to seat families together. Unfortunately management don't get the brunt of the disgruntled guests the waiting staff do. One family sat next to us and removed a reserved sign which caused problems but at the end of the day just because some groups are coming via coach doesn't mean they have any more right to sit somewhere when we are all paying guests and I think this seriously needs looking at. I will also say we were all very shocked that we didn't contract covid from this setting, no masks being worn by guests, coughing and self service. The pool are was very quiet and it was never a problem getting sun loungers together. The pool looks lovely but it did have quite a-lot of floating grime in it and is freezing. Seagulls come regularly and bathe, poop and drink from the pool which isn't pleasant and I understand that there isn't a great deal that can be done about it but still not pleasant. We only saw the pool being cleaned once whilst there. Novigrad is about a 10 - 15 minute walk from the hotel if you walk along the costal path or go down the main road. We started to just eat out in the evenings due to the standards in the restaurant and the lack of variety but once 1st October hit a large majority of restaurants shut for the season. We found the restaurants to be very well priced and the food was delicious. Personally we wouldn't return to the hotel again it was chaotic in places didn't feel very covid safe and there wasn't a great deal going on. In the evenings there was live music but it was the same thing every evening and generally more geared towards older German guests yet there were various nationalities and age ranges. This hotel needs to put more consideration into how best to service all guests not just some. This hotel is classed as a TUI platinum range hotel but in comparison to others in the range we have stayed at this just doesn't compare.

We had a great stay (6 nights) in the maestral hotel with halfboard service. We had a see view room with pool view. The rooms clean and the cleaning women usually ask if we need something or not. Selection of the foods more than I imagined, this is a huge advantage of the hotel. You can playe tennis or rent a bicycle or other sport possibilities. You can swim in the inside pool (in case of rainy weather for example), it is a little bit cold and seewater (but for swimming perfect). Disadvantage is only the live music in EVERY evening. The music is good idea but too loud and every evening is too much. It would be twice a week sufficient. The live music is next to the pool until 11pm. Next time we will book room on on the other side of the hotel.

I debated long about what rating to give this and went with a 3 star… The grounds… brilliant - really well kept, clean and the infinity pool is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen (I didn’t go in, it was cold!). And the sunset from this pool is outstanding. The hotel - really nice, it’s really well kept and looks really good. It’s clean and modern and lots of room. The rooms - this is where the problems start, quite small, on par with an ibis but with much less comfortable beds. The big issue was the air con, it was switched off for the whole hotel because it was cold outside…. It wasn’t inside though! Our room never dipped below 25c which was warmer than the heat of the day! Not good if you want to sleep! They even had the heating on in corridors and it was horrible coming in to that when it was 24c outside! The food - repetitive but actually good! Give it a go if you want a well priced holiday, but go before October!

This whole trip was a birthday surprise for my wife, and I hoped everything would be just perfect. And it was! After five days of our stay at the hotel, we were delighted. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the sea view was fascinating. The hotel staff are always happy to help and give you everything you ask for. Outside the hotel, there was a lot of sports possibilities and a lot of shaded green space. A wonderful overall experience. This is a very amazing resort!

Came here on a Monday afternoon, after. 10-hr journey, to a long line at the reception of a hotel that looked more like a hostel in need of cleaning. The reception had 1 lady working and a young guy just walking around aimlessly. After about 15 minutes he decided to open the second til so that the line would subside. We received the room key and went straight upstairs to a carpet in need of deep cleaning (the curtains could use a wash too), a balcony with clipped toenails, and a shower that had a shower head shooting, at best, lukewarm water (we complained the next day and it did get sorted, along with a different shower head, the was shooting water at a lower speed, but still hard enough that the entire bathroom was filled with water). Dinner and breakfast is served at the same place, downstairs. With Corona still being a topic, both the reception as well as all the areas around, no one really keeps to wearing the masks properly, if at all. Especially those serving at the restaurant or the bar. Breakfast in the morning was shared with employees of the place, which is a no-go for a 4-star hotel. In general, the food moves fast, so many people keeping taking things at the buffet, I think the risk of anything going bad is low, however, adults and kids walk around coughing and sneezing and then touching the common cutlery, and since there is no hygiene measures at the hotel, it is somewhat worrisome. Not a corona freak, but a hygiene freak, seeing as some guests did not wash their hands after visiting the toilet. Decided to go for a pedicure. Tip for guests; don’t! Use your money elsewhere, as the poor (and very very lovely) young lady, is actually a therapist, who is not provided with the tools needed to anything close to a proper pedicure, nor is she trained to do so. But she tried and my only hope is that the ignorant management will use her for the job she is trained for. Most annoying are the smokers. It’s 2021, and there are still plenty of smokers around the children/dining areas which we did not appreciate one bit. Suggestion to have a smokers seating area would be welcomed by some guests. A 4-star hotel this place is not, at its very very best, a lower level 3-star, and even at that, they need to work harder at the hygiene levels, outside as well as inside. Normally we have 1 particular person who makes the place better or special, in this case it was the lovely hairdresser who cut the kids hair on our last day, and the man who greeted us at breakfast. The aim of the post is not to shame anyone, but I would have liked to know this before we went to lower expectations.

The hotel is rated four stars. Based on the services the hotel has to offer and the customer-friendly behavior of its personnel this is appropriate. The management approach however is not at par with this rating. Rooms We had two rooms with sea view. The room has a small balcony. The layout of the building gives almost 100% privacy in each room. Size of the rooms was OK for a one week stay. The desk is too small to be used as working space. We had frequent electricity outages in both rooms. The card holders need to be repaired or replaced. Reception staff is aware of this. In addition there were outages every single day during the morning hours. These also were at room level. Bathroom size is OK, shower cabin has a nice size; larger than typical in a holiday hotel. Tissue dispenser was missing. Very good ventilator. Restaurant Capacity was OK during our stay. We only needed to wait for a table to be available once, and only for a few minutes. Personnel here is very friendly. Food quality OK, not really at 4-star level. Variety on a single day OK; very limited variation from day to day. Limited offering of local specialties. The quality of meat, both sliced cold meat at breakfast and cooked meat at dinner was below expectation. The cheapest stuff one can buy in the supermarket. Smoking was allowed in outdoor eating sections, which is disgusting for non-smokers at the next table. I really don’t understand why smokers have to be allowed to spoil the experience for non-smokers. Covid Signs are there to remind everyone of wearing face masks. Hand sanitizers are available at every entry. Not all staff not wearing face masks properly. Everyone knows by now that not covering the nose is the same as not wearing a face mask at all. Measures at self-service restaurant not in line with general European guidelines. Some guests were not wearing face masks at all. Rules published, but adherence not monitored or enforced. It all comes across as window dressing: showing that they did something without being interested in addressing the underlying concerns. The management is thus demonstrating that they are not really worried about the health of their guests. Reception Staff friendly and helpful, sometimes under-staffed. Cleaning staff Always friendly and courteous. Outdoors Lights next to beach walking path not switched on in the evening. Lifeguards often not at their post, and ending their shift at 6PM – when it is still sunny and 29 degrees??? When they are their post, they are busy with their smart phones, in stead of observing what is happening in the sea. Conclusion The hotel has everything needed to deserve four stars. Management behavior and decisions make the experience not as good as it could have been: quality of food; not fixing card holders causing non-stop electricity outages; not switching on the lights at the walking paths next to the beach; not having tissue dispenser in the bathroom; not having enough staff at all times; limited lifeguard oversight at the beach; no oversight on face mask usage at all.
