We booked the apartment, though we didn't use it for self-catering. Apart from the bed being very hard it was very roomy and comfortable. Both the lounge and the bedroom opened onto a large balcony with views across the valley and of the mountains. Although meals were not included the owner, who speaks excellent English, was happy to provide breakfasts... More

We stayed there overnight and chose this place over the Shipka hotel because we are somehow allergic to the modern misunderstood luxury that dominates the balkans. Anyway, it was a great stay the rooms are rustic but cosy and in good state. The highlite was the breakfast, we chose the traditional one over the continental and it was the right... More

We stayed with our son of the age of 6 at Hotel Perenika. It's a very charming place, well-kept old house, specialized in big groups but also perfect for our family. We had a nice big corner bed room with a lovely view and nice wooden furniture. What makes this place so nice is the owner who is extremely friendly... More

We were travelling by car through Bulgaria, and chose this place as it was cheap and on our way. Very nice hotel, small, but with good rooms. Breakfast was not included but could be purchased for 1,2-2,5 euro per person. Home made food. The manager helped us to find shop and a place to eat in the evening. He was... More

Hotel was very clean and nice. The best was the owner-very friendly, helpful and nice. Optional breakfast is a great idea so you dont have to book them plus you can have free coffee or tea in the morning. Good location around attractions. Reasonable prize also.

My partner and I went to the small village of Shipka for a night and having booked no accomodation, decided to take a chance when we got there. There was a sign for the hotel in the centre where the bus dropped us off and we walked 200meters up a small hill and went into the hotel. They didn't have... More

We stayed for two nights on a recommendation from a Bulgarian friend in the hotel apartment – it was simple, but well decorated with warmly coloured rugs and traditional wooden furniture – the hosts were very proud of the traditional Bulgarian style. I was especially pleased with the recommendations that the hotel host gave us of the hikes we could... More
