Homestead Inn was a life saver for me!!! I'm active duty military and received orders leaving 29 Palms. After selling my house and moving my family, I was extended in 29 Palms. I was referred to Homestead Inn by my DRC/FRO. Jerri was the nicest and most accommodating hostess ever. Homestead Inn is the most affordable fully furnished rental property in 29 Palms. My room was clean, very comfortable and equipped with wifi and cable. If you're active duty and transitioning to or from 29 Palms, I highly recommend Homestead Inn.
I stayed at the Homestead Inn on two separate occasions while I was stationed in Twentynine Palms. Ms. Jerri worked with me while I was there for a few months at a time. She takes you in as one of her own! Apart from the room, she takes care of laundry facilities, WiFi, TV, and other utilities. Ms. Jerri really goes out of her way to make sure every guest is taken care of. The rooms have everything you could need and the location is quiet. They are everything you could ask for, and perfect for short term tenets or single Marines.
As a pro reviewer and QC guy for many years, I tend to eschew giving reviews … but I have to put in a positive pitch for the Homestead Inn! As other reviewers have noted, Gerri is the hostess with the mostest … a warm, caring, kind, down-to-earth lady who really takes care of her guests. My stay was 7 months; late October 2019 to June 1st 2020. This was the perfect place to stay over the winter/cooler months. I rented the Puzzle Room, a very spacious room in the front half of the building just outside the main house. It was more expensive than the regular apartments, but it was worth it. The room is approximately 25' by 25'. It has a kitchenette - mini fridge, good microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and table. There's a 'faux wood' stove in a corner that provides radiant heat in the cold months. A comfy bed, a comfy lounge chair and small table near the flat screen TV (a full pallette of movie channels). There's an armoire, plus plenty of dresser drawers. And a private wood-fenced courtyard with a grill and patio table with chairs. A big plus here is: there's a modem and router right there in the room, with speeds in the range of 75 to over 100 Mbps - very nice! There's also a laundry room that is free to use, detergent included. There's several other rooms/apartments here, of different sizes and prices ... all tucked away on a very private, quiet, safe, beautiful and spacious 12 acres. I highly recommend the Homestead Inn! …
A fellow Marine told me about this gem of a place and I'm so glad he did! Jerri is – hands down – the MOST accommodating hostess I've ever had in my rental experiences. She made me feel at home from Day 1 and even forwarded some very important mail after I moved out of the state. During my stay at Homestead Inn, I was able to get a lot accomplished (after a very trying time in my life). The simplicity (ONE bill covered everything) of the arrangement and all of the amenities made my hectic life so much better. She even had the damaged mattress replaced (damaged from a previous tenant) with a new one! The covered parking was nice to have as well; as it kept my vehicle from baking in the desert sun 24/7. There is so much more I could say about how great an experience it was to be there but you'll just have to find out for yourself! You can rest assured knowing that if you get a room at Homestead Inn (as Twentynine Palms can be limited on living quarters), you're going to be very happy. Just pay your rent on time and enjoy each day!…
Jerri (the owner) was absolutely amazing! The base housing situation on MCAGCC 29 Palms is less than desirable and very slow in some/most cases to get people situated where they needed to be. That said, Jerri is extremely hospitable and provides lodging at a very reasonable rate (cheaper than the BOQ by about half the price). The rooms aren't anything more than you would get in a hotel, but the cost savings you get (plus free laundry and an awesome landlady with local knowledge/recommendations) is very well worth it, especially if you're staying TAD and don' want to bother with base housing/TLF. Overall, Jerri is a wonderful host and I would definitely recommend staying with her if you get the chance.
