shower. Hotel provided four containers of body wash, but no conditioner, shampoo, or body lotion. We did have breakfast at the hotel. They offered warm scrambled eggs, ham, and hot dogs. They had meats and cheeses, a bowl of fruit and some cereals. Coffee machine and juices available.
The view from the window is poor, (on the side of hotel - overlooking a backyard common with a tenement) yet we didn’t ask for Danube view. My father in law had a room with Danube view, and I can say it’s quite nice.
On the staff side - the lady from the reception has been always helpful with some good suggestions regarding our choices in terms of restaurants. We visit Ryce quite often just for lunch. At her recommendation we tried some other restaurants that were good.
Conclusion: don’t be scared of the outside look, the hotel is nice, clean and the staff helpful.
Very close to the center.
Parking on site.
Our room was very large (5 windows) with a sleeping area and sitting area.
Very pleasant.
Courteous staff.
Very hard bed.
The only flaw, breakfast lacking dessert.
Someone to come look at it and the lady in charge said to just open our window. She said the A/C can’t keep the room cool. What??? It’s 80 degrees in the room. There is no fan for circulation. There is no breeze for air to blow into the window from outside. A very sticky, hot night. Rooms should be a livable
Temperature.
The building was commissioned and erected in 1888 by architect S .Valsamaki for brother’s Dina and Ziso Bebis, Greek immigrants who made their fortunes as wheat merchants and bankers.
During the anti-Greek sentiments (early 19th century) the family fortunes and company assets were entrusted to the town's Chief of Police, Ivan Kovachev, who usurped them and sold the house to an Austrian Hugo Shoberman, a taxi fleet operator.
In 1910 Shoberman lost the house (and as the legend says, his beautiful wife too!) in high a stake poker game to an industrialist Petko. H. Petkov.
In the subsequent years the house took up many new owners from consulates to History Museum and the Hunting-fishing society. In 2001 it was auctioned to Ivan Dobrev Milev, who restored the house to its former glory and threw the gates of "Hotel Anna Palace" open to the public on the 9th April 2003.

Incredible location!
Close enough to steal breath taking sunsets on the Danube, short walking distance from Svoboda Square, the park, the port and bang across Elias Canetti's house.
Walkable distances from the Roman Fortress of Sexaginta Prista and the Catholic Church of St. Paul the Crucified.
Stunning buildings in 19th and 20th century “Neo Baroque” and “Neo Rococo” architectural styles with great restaurants and cafes around.
Hotel
Stunning late 19th and early 20th century “Neo Baroque” and “Neo Rococo” with painted walls and decorated ceilings with niches, very authentic local style.
Offers 24 rooms (19 double rooms & 5 single rooms) plus 6 suites, equipped with bath-tubs. Central air-conditioning, Cable television, minibar and Wi-Fi are standard. Secure car parking in front of the hotel.
In general the rooms are impeccably clean housed with standard electrical gadgets and fittings which worked well. The suite we had was large by most standards, a large living room with a huge LCD, a big bedroom with a smaller old CRT telly, spacious bathroom with a tub and a lavish terrace overlooking a small part of the Danube.
The furniture and the furnishing were in keeping with the period and affluent stature of its owners, rich and opulent, magically opening small windows into their lives.
The buffet breakfast is tasty with multiple assortments, service overall in the restaurants were outstanding. On request changes were handled without any fuss. A big plus when you are a fastidious diner. Menu in general is European / Bulgarian mix, well portioned and priced. Would not mind dining for a couple of days at the hotel restaurants.
The only let down was the Wi-Fi. We had very weak signal strength in the bedroom and living room. We had to sit close to the suite door to use the internet.
The best suite is the one with a balcony overlooking the Danube and we would love spending more time next time around at the Anna Palace.
"Been here several times and august is a hot month. Better choose late spring or mid autumn to visit Ruse!"Read full review

"A room overlooking the Danube might be nicer (even though it also overlooks the terrace, but the restaurant closes at 11 PM)."Read full review
