Detailed Reviews
Just back from a week staying at the Vitalhotel Schermer. We stayed half board in a room with a separate adjoining room with bunk beds for the kids. The breakfast, afternoon snack and dinner were all top quality with enough variety to avoid repetition over the week. The room was well appointed, large, clean and toasty. The Schermer Family and all the staff were welcoming, accommodating and friendly. It's a fab hotel, convenient for skiing and sorting your lift pass. Kids loved the pool, both indoor and outdoor!
We have booked again for next year and looking forward to it already.
Hint: if you stay, book in for the wine tasting ... super evening not to be missed!

Recently returned from a week skiing in Westendorf and skiwelt area. Schermer hotel is a warm, friendly and welcoming hotel run by a great team. Jacob works hard to ensure all of his guests are well looked after and the staff are all excellent. The lounge area has been refurbished since our last visit as has a section of the restaurant. Both very nicely decorated in a more modern, chic style and very comfortable to sit in for a drink before dinner. Breakfast is excellent, loads of choice and freshly cooked eggs any way you would like. Dinner in the evening is good though can be a little unadventurous but very good standard all the same. Kids buffet provided every night too with ‘the usuals’ to keep kids happy. Great facilities to use after skiing e.g. pool and spa area. New ski/boot room is very nice and the new gym area looks very well equipped though didn’t use it this time. Family suites are very spacious with a big bathroom (bath and shower). Hotel is very well located for both the nursery slopes (5 min walk) or if you want to head straight to the gondola to get up the mountain (10 min walk). Would have no hesitation in recommending The Schermer for a great holiday in Westendorf.

We arrived just after the Austrian lockdown. We were the first guests in the hotel! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome. The staff were exceptional. Really good with all members of the family (including kids ranging from 10 to 4).
The hotel is in a great location in a beautiful village. With younger kids in ski boots, it is probably ten mins walk to the nearest gondola. An adult can do it in five easily and the ski locker room (which is amazing!) is located gondola-side.
The kids nursery slope is also minutes away and you can traverse from there to the gondola if you like.
The staff are exceptional. There are too many to name but the bar staff, breakfast omelette staff, servers, reception, owners and everyone gives you a fantastic welcome and outstanding service.
The bonus of a warm swimming pool (where you can swim outside amongst the snow) was great for the kids after a day of skiing.
I would happily stay again and happily ski the SkiWelt area - the Westerndorf side is linked via a great blue run, followed by a gondola then an amazing red run (the Kanderalm) which takes you down to Brixen and then up the other side in a gondola. Yep, all round a great trip and great hotel.

We had a fantastic week’s stay here. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food is fantastic - the best most varied and plentiful buffet options for breakfast that I have ever seen! Snacks served in the afternoon seem a bit above and beyond - sweet and savoury options including soup and lasagne. I think a few cakes would suffice but it would be perfect if free tea/coffee were available too. There is an amazing gym room, well organised ski locker room and a lovely spa/pool area. Also lucky enough to enjoy the sunshine out on a very sunny patio area. Our room was large with a decent balcony with chairs and a table. We had a shower over bath and separate toilet. Plenty of storage/wardrobe space for all our clothes. Like most of hotels apparently in Austria there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room (fortunately we took our own travel kettle) . There is however a fridge. Room was generally pretty warm so we opened our window a lot. Unfortunately if you are near smokers who smoke on the balcony the smell can drift into the room and whilst the room itself is non smoking there was a slight stale smoke smell in the air. Everything was immaculately clean everywhere in the hotel. There is a large reception room for relaxing after a day on the slopes/to enjoy a drink pre or post dinner. We ate in the contemporary dining room every night - you are allocated a table at the start of your stay, There are also smaller more traditionally Austrian dining rooms too. Hotel is perfectly located in the village and a short walk to nursery slopes/gondola. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely consider returning.

Traditional looking but also modern hotel., close to centre of town. Elegant public areas and very welcoming, friendly owners and staff.
Good modern ski boot room with heated lockers allocated to each bedroom. Took 15/20 minutes to walk to ski lift in ski boots. Good indoor/outdoor swimming pool although water cool indoors. Pleasant sauna and steam rooms. Quiet relaxing rooms surrounding pool and spa area (wasn’t school holiday time).
Musical entertainment several nights per week and wine tasting (chargeable).
Our bedroom overlooked a road and traffic woke us early in the morning as we left the window open as the room was so hot. (Travelled with Inghams Ski)
Food was ok, a little uninspiring (salads repetitive and bland) and would have preferred more traditional Austrian local food rather that European food of various surrounding countries. We ignored the afternoon snack, served 3-5pm, after the first day and went to a local cafe instead where we found gorgeous cakes!
Car park in basement.

Excellent hotel which attracts many return guests. Very friendly family atmosphere and attentive staff. The owners always on hand to help & ensure guests are happy. Very well appointed rooms, and they continue to update furnishings & rooms and its no doubt the best hotel in Westendorf. Food quality is excellent, but meals can occasionally be rather disappointing.
They do cater well for children, but this can sometimes slightly lower the standard of the hotel unfortunately. Having a 'children's buffet, is all very well, but too many children are allowed to run back & forward unaccompanied by an adult, which is only an accident waiting to happen. Also, the children's playroom is downstairs, and can be accessed from the main lounge bar, via the buffet, which means they are constantly running back & forth especially in the evenings. Something that needs to be resolved, although parents are partly responsible for this.
Apart from these minor issues it is a lovely hotel, and highly recommended. Some staff have worked there for many years, which is always a sign of a well run establishment. Some of the newer ones, especially the young waiters could really dress a bit more suitably. Serving in a dining room wearing no socks is just wrong !
They do make an effort to wear Austrian National dress, occasionally with is really nice, and always appreciated by guests.

Very friendly staff, lovely food, relaxed family hotel. Kids love staying in this hotel as much as they enjoy the skiing - playroom, sauna, and swimming pool (including the outdoor part). We are planning our next trip.

We enjoyed a superb week at the Landhotel Schermer. Our room (Tyrol Junior Suite) was large with a lovely balcony and views over the countryside. Everything about the hotel is of a very high standard and it is lovely to stay somewhere that is family run. The breakfast is probably the best we have had anywhere, with a fantastic range of hot and cold dishes. Dinner is also very good and there is the added bonus of cake available each day after walking in the hills.
We plan to return again soon as both the hotel, and Westendorf, are excellent places to stay.

Excellent Hotel, excellent location, very wide and impecable rooms, great spa and swimming pool, very good the variety and quality of the food, very nice public areas. In general friendly and professional service (specially our waitress Sophia ! Bravo!).
Somethings that from my point of view should improve:
- Lights at the room. In general there is not too much lights in the room. You can not read confortable in the bed because the lamps beside do not have enough light . Simply putting a little led light up the bed, the problem will be solve.
- The service during the dinners and in the bar some days was very average, I think it is necessary to step up more waiters (or more effective and professional as Sophia!) .

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a holiday to Austria. This is a beautiful hotel run by a lovely family and staff. They are efficient, friendly and altogether a joy to stay with. We shall certainly endeavour to return for a longer stay. We were made to feel very welcome and special. The food is high quality and delicious, dishes varied and included local specialities making the dining experience a memorable one. The staff are highly trained, they notice your requirements before you need to ask, they smile, chat in English, and obviously enjoy their work.

Dear Guest, in our hotel there's just one lounge, in which smoking is permitted. It's not allowed in the rooms, bar, restaurant,...We look forward to hearing from you again and remain with kindest regards, Family Schermer
No hair conditioner and the wife says they don’t sell much of it in the supermarket there.
You have just been quoted double the price that the taxi firm in Westendorf charges!
