Wonderful Experience
Stayed in this hotel with a charming friend and found it to be just wonderful. It’s in a very quiet part of Sankt Johann with no outside noise or traffic....so a good night’s sleep is guaranteed. The hotels location in Sankt Johann is a perfect place to explore this unique and beautiful area of Tyrol. The hotel is quaint and typically and beautifully Austrian. My room was spacious and looking out to a beautiful garden. The room was immaculately clean at all times with really comfortable and appropriate furnishings. Breakfast was an absolute feast with a very large table laid out with I would say possibly 60 plus items including hot and cold options. Service at all times was attentive, friendly and absolutely professional. Evening dinner was of a very high standard with about 6 or 7 courses with plenty of choice. Again service was of the highest standard and on one evening we had the pleasure of dining in the garden on a memorably beautiful evening. Wines and drinks available in the restaurant and bar were of a varied choice with reasonable prices. To be honest I have stayed in many hotels around the world but this place was something special. All staff members were always attentive and professional ( especially Sonya) The hotel also provides a very uuseful card for travel on trains and buses in the area. This is a well run hotel which is a credit to all involved and I can’t wait to return again in June of next year

My wife and I once again returned to Sporthotel Austria for our 3 week holiday. Everything about this hotel and staff is amazing. The chefs never fail to amaze us with the wonderful variety of meals & as my wife is gluten intolerant, they always manage to adapt the meals to cater for her, without detracting form the wonderful flavors.
Johnny the owner and his team of staff always work so hard to please all of their guests. Sabine and Sonya do an amazing job and somehow manage to please all of the guests, especially considering how busy the hotel has been.
There has been several groups of 30-40 guests arriving on week long trips, as well as other couples etc. Also thanks to the other dining staff- and Andrea, Caterina and Maria and not forgetting Johnny’s Mum , who also works so hard in the restaurant.
The cleaning staff always do a great job ensuring all rooms and other areas of the hotel are kept spotlessly clean.
This must be about the 15th time we have holidayed at Sporthotel Austria and we are already looking forward to returning next year, having already booked our visit.

Last minute trip to the alps for family skiing led us to this charming hotel and resort,
Since walking through the doors we have felt at home. Nothing is too much trouble. The location to the slopes is superb, Food wise we have a Gluten Free requirement and also two teenage boys who know what they like, The meals I have to say are superb, there is an option for a kids alternative to mix in with the wonderful 4 course meal and with a lounge to relax in with games it’s a perfect mix.
Rooms are clean, spacious with it made as a twin for the boys. After skiing a dip in the pool is a great end of the day. Snow of course is never guaranteed in any resort but we have lots of great slopes, no queues and more snow forecast tomorrow.
Traveling over half term and under covid restrictions with our lads using the ninja holiday pass, FFP masks are needed and a simple test in the local Spar, don’t let covid stop you .. it’s so easy and not a problem at all ..
Definitely recommend this hotel and holiday and give it a deserved 5 * .,, Will be back !!

This is the second time at the Sports Hotel. My daughter and I had a fabulous week here. The food is outstanding. So fresh and always presented so well. The staff are so helpful and always have a welcome smile when you return after skiing. My daughter hurt her leg skiing and the owner and staff were so caring and helpful. Our bedroom was spacious and a beautiful view of the mountain. It is like a home away from home and hopefully we will be able to return next year. We would recommend this hotel for location, comfort, excellent food and all the home comforts.

My second visit with an ideal, charming companion and it was a joy to return. From the moment we arrived the magic of the previous year returned. We requested the rooms we had the previous year and we were delighted that we were allocated the same. The rooms are beautifully appointed and in immaculate condition. The welcome was warm and friendly by the wonderful Johnny (the proprietor) . Breakfast was absolutely amazing with an enormous amount of dishes. Dinner was also of a very high standard including on one evening a delightful and memorable outdoor barbecue. The levels of personal attention with excellent service were most impressive. This to me is an authentic Austrian hotel and I hope it remains so. This is an ideal base to explore this amazing region. The town of Sankt Johann is delightful with an array of interesting shops, supermarkets and an amazing museum. Traveling around this region is made easy by the provision of a card administered by the hotel which gives you free access to trains and buses. The true delight is walking in this region. Undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable weeks of my life and I long to return.

This used to be my favourite place in St Johann but it has slipped badly. The positives are the owner and the staff all very friendly and helpful. The negatives are now many . I always thought the standard of cuisine was excellent but alas this is no more. Terrible food combinations badly cooked often tasteless and at best luke warm . The week we stayed there were too many faults even to begin a list. All fish dishes were overcooked and the sauces on them were like gloop. The chef seemed to have very little ideas on what would be suitable combinations to serve with various dishes and even how to cook the food. One example is the Gala night dinner which had a sorbet but every single person was served this dish and it was melted and at room temperatue. I have never seen so much food returned uneaten much to the embarrasment of the servers. I must mention Sonya who did her best to apologise. As a result we ate out on three different evenings because the menu was so bland and made no culinary sense. One eveing we were served " Fish Quiche " this came out and looked like a serving of green vomit from "The Exorcist" it was so bad that all six at our table were untouched . Overall the food in the evening was only 1 star and it was noticeable how reduced the choice at breakfast was compared to previous years. I voiced my concerns and they were accepted and an attempt to improve was made but the chef didnt seem capable of reaching anywhere near the standard of previous years. This view was shared by many of the other guests to the point we were laughing about it.
The hotel is perfectly placed for the slopes and the town and it was such a shame to have to put up with sub standard meals. The rooms as always are warm and neat and tidy , the pool and spa area are spotlessly clean but the awful food let the hotel down . I'm not sure if I could give Sporthotel another chance too big a fall from grace for me.

This is my 5th visit to the beautiful, "chocolate box town" of Sankt Johann in Tirol with it's stunning Bavarian style painted buildings, gorgeous shops some superb little bars (I'll come to those soon!), but we were also lucky to have quite a dump of snow during our stay, so the whole town looked like something out of a fairytale.
My first stay at the Post hotel Austria. Couldn't fault it at all. Cosy, warm rooms (ours was very spacious) with a balcony, a great bar with good atmosphere, excellent boot room (toasty warm ski boots every morning), delightful restaurant with good breakfast and you don't go hungry in the evening. Evening dinner was a choice of 3 mains (chosen the previous day) but a buffet starter, soups, dessert and some fab cheeses. Mostly good, but just a few which weren't to my taste. We were well looked after by all the staff. Nice indoor pool. It's a shame the sauna's are all nude, it's really off putting for us Brits!
Excellent location to the ski lift and Max pub (apres ski bar is literally 5 mins round the corner).
Some great little bars all within 10 mins walk. Rogis, Huber Brau, Cubo sky bar, Michi's and the Wirtshaus Jagglback - all very friendly and worth a visit.
If you're looking for alternative days skiing, catch the train to Kitzbuhel or the bus to Steinplatte or Fieberbrunn. Loads of options, don't just stay local, there's plenty of alternatives!
If you've never visited St Johann in Tirol, it's a must - one of my favourite places in Austria.

Just spent a week at the Sport Hotel in St Johann and I can't recommend it enough. The food was excellent and varied and couldn't fault the service especially from Sonja who was a font of knowledge and very entertaining. The rooms were kept spotless and will definitely be returning back in 2024.

As Sabine from Sporthotel Austria advises, I’m very sure this will be accommodated. The hotel is excellent- we have stayed 8 or 9 times & have already booked for this summer. The food is excellent. Staff are all lovely.
