A friendly relaxing hotel, all the staff are excellent and the food tasty. The quality of the interior design and real attention to detail is amazing, colours and textures reflecting the outside landscape. Large room. Very warm outside pool! Lovely choice of saunas, powerful water jets in indoor pool, comfy beds. Oh, and at breakfast a bag provided to make your own lunch nibbles.

We stayed here with family and friends, (8 of us) for a week, and had a really good time. We had read recent reviews saying the food wasn't good, so we were a little concerned, but shouldn't have been because it was lovely. Lots of choice to eat for breakfast and dinner. The staff there were very friendly and attentive, especially Fran who was our waiter for the week, nothing was too much trouble. It was my husband's birthday whilst we were there and they sang him happy birthday and gave him a gift which was a lovely touch. The room were very comfortable and generous. The pools lovely, I especially enjoyed the outdoor pool. Skiing back to the hotel was made harder due to the lack of snow, but still possible. We could not fault this hotel, and would definitely return if we wanted to go back to Zell am See. Great value for money. Thank you to Stefan and his team for such a perfect week. X

Amazing ski hotel with great food and very good service.. When we arrived late we were offered food in the bar and throughout the holiday we found the service and food excellent. There is both an adult and family spa. It’s a short walk to main lift. We paid for an upgrade and had a beautiful family room. It’s already booked out for 2024 and we can see why. Special thanks to Esther for her kindness and service. I broke my collarbone and they brought lunch to the room for two days. My son said it was the best hotel he has ever stayed in because of the lovely people working here. 5/5 we will be back

Positive: fast check-in, clean, good food and more than enough choice, pretty spacious rooms, modern spa and swimming pool plus outside swimming pool, close to skibus stop. Waiters are top notch. Negative: drinks are not included in the all inclusive, personnel is a bit hit and miss - at carnival, one of the staff got drunk and tried and failed to animate the guests during dinner. The cook cutting the meat was not very friendly, which made our smaller children to scared to ask for a piece of roast. This is not true for all the staff though, most were very professional. A special shout out goes to Ferenc, our waiter for the week in the family restaurant, who had all of our rooms memorized by day two (group of 4 couples with children), including our favourite drinks and which children belong to which couple. He even anticipated our requests a few times and sometimes the correct drinks were already waiting for us when we returned from the buffet before we even saw him. That is some four seasons level of service right there.

This is the first time I have ever been left feeling underwhelmed by an Austrian hotel and I have stayed at many. Although the location is good and the spa facilities nice, the food was a big let down. Buffet service which was more like a works canteen with unimaginative food. Dessert was basically ice cream with sprinkles for the kids every night with one other choice as an after thought for the adults, or fruit. Dinner was only until 2030 and at that time they literally cleared everything away so if you came to dinner at 2000 as adults often do on holiday, it was a rushed affair and difficult to get drink service at the table. My son had to go searching for a waiter on our last night as we had already finished our first course with no drinks. I suffered a bout of food poisoning on day 3 which cost me a days skiing and 2 meals and although this was reported to the reception, I was simply told that they would let the kitchen know and was not even asked for a name or room number. I would have expected a "finest" 4 star hotel to have been slightly more concerned that they had poisoned one of their guests? Our room was very large and comfortable enough but with incredibly rough towels and not particularly pleasant decor. On paying the bill at checkout, I had been charged 30 euros for someone else's drinks which was taken off the bill when I queried it however, it was almost as if it was a cheek and an inconvenience for me to even question the error. There is definitely something about this hotel which attracts a certain kind of holiday maker. Young men openly swearing in the restaurant even though it is a children's hotel, leaving used towels all around the adults spa rather than using the bins provided, teenagers emptying the contents of their nose into the outdoor pool which we found particularly disgusting, and adults leaving their empty beer bottles and can around the pool spoiling it for others. It wasn't all bad and we had for the most part, a pleasant time hence the 3 stars but unfortunately, even food poisoning aside, I just cannot recommend this hotel as there are much nicer hotels in Zell.

We stayed here for a weeks skiing. Hotel is warm and friendly. Nice big bar area which was great. The food is great - fresh and tasty. Couldn’t fault it. One downside was that our room (old building) was very small. It was hard to get hot water for a drink. The spa area was nice but the hot tub was a lukewarm. The outdoor pool was nice but one day it wasn’t warm. Overall good facilities. We had a long wait for equipment so be aware of this, we queued for an hour. Overall would return.

Despite being advertised as a 4-star, ski-in ski-out hotel with modern rooms and nice food, the Waldhof is a tired, lacklustre establishment with slow and surly staff. Although the room was clean and the beds comfortable, our room was not as pictured online. While there must be modern and more spacious rooms in the hotel, this was not our experience. The breakfast buffet was good, with ample selection of hot and cold food, from which lunches could also be made. However, dinner was very disappointing, and you could not put together a proper meal from what was on offer on the buffet. The chefs made the classic mistake of doing too much (and doing it badly). Unless you like ice cream every night, there was not really a decent dessert option. Even the hotel dog was not interested in what was on offer! Also, considering the buffet is self-service, it took an inordinate amount of time to order and receive drinks, suggesting the hotel needs more staff. The spa facilities and pools were nice, and the location is brilliant - possibly the reasons why this hotel has retained its generous 4 stars. Overall, we would definitely return to Zell am See (great skiing, skiing infrastructure, views), but not to the Waldhof hotel.

Overall very poor experience, hard to believe it is a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very dated. Restaurant area is relatively modern and the breakfast was reasonable. However, the evening meal was very poor in quality, for example, "bbq night" consisted of a tub of pulled pork with a drizzle of bbq sauce, flavourless chicken wings and some slabs of meat whereby one of the chefs coughed into his hand before picking up the meat and slapping it on the grill. We ate out a few nights to get a decent meal. We had an upgraded room but the only difference from a standard room appeared to be a bath as opposed to just a shower. The spa area is OK, but nothing special. Staff were generally rude. No hello from anyone at reception. When checking out at c7am on the day we were leaving, I was asked why I didn't check out the night before and asked if this was "the first time we had been on holiday" whilst he laughed out loud - incredibly rude and frankly disgusting service, hence the 1 star review instead of 2. The ski / boot room is a total mess, no lockers for most rooms, old benches and a sofa which looks like it's been rotting in there for many years. Bar area is relatively dated but service here was generally good and prices reasonable. The location is decent, being a short walk to the bus stop and town. However I am sure that there are far better places to stay in Zell, which is a great town and the skiing is excellent.

Hotel is very dated- rooms are like staying in a 1980s museum. Old pillows, stained carpets, stained blinds, cracked sinks. No kettle in rooms, no irons or boards. Bathrooms are basic and damaged. Staff are incredibly rude, service is generally poor. No water in the spa despite asking, as there were ‘no staff’. No massages available as there were ‘no staff’. You get the picture. Food is poor. Breakfast is a basic offering, snack is worse and dinner is grim. No fruit (whole apples, bananas etc) allowed to be given out after breakfast time, despite snack food not catering to allergies due to hotel policy. Stay somewhere else.
