The hotel is situated in the small town of st Gilgen, a most beautiful little town steeped in tradition which bring extra charm to it. The Hotel itself was traditionally Austrian and the room did not disappoint our double room with balcony and en suite was spacious, bright, very modern and comfortable. The food at the hotel was delicious and...

We recently stayed at the Gasthof Zur Post for 2 nights and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel has a charming mix of traditional Austrian decor in the public areas but the rooms are spare and modern. The food at their breakfast buffet was plentiful and excellent, and we really enjoyed dinner there one evening. We were given a...

We liked the fact that this hotel was old but rooms had been fully brought upto modern standards. The meals were excellent, and very pleasently surprised us in that there was no salad course (and we like Austrian salads), just four courses and they were all good. Although it didn't affect us I could see an issue for others in...

We had a three night stay here and enjoyed every minute. If you are visiting St Gilgen then you can't get more central than this. Very old central part of the hotel with a 'new' wing built on. It doesn't look as I've put it - and it's difficult to see the 'new' wing. Our room was in the 'new'...

A lovely hotel in the centre of the beautiful village of st Gilgen. Our room was at the side of the hotel, overlooking the village. From our balcony we could see the adjacent mountain and the cable car. The food was excellent, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The village is very pretty with lots of lovely walks nearby....

Stayed for 2 nights, having failed to get accommodation at The White Horse Inn St Wolfgang but still wanted to visit the area. For some reason we could not have the room we had booked ( lake view ) instead we were given a second floor room overlooking the side street, which although clean, was rather strange & shabby -...

Very pleasant staff. Excellent food. Reasonably priced wine. Great location in centre of town. Lots of history and traditional Austrian features. Family run hotel which is patronised by locals for meals & weddings etc so you get a real feel for the Austrian way of life.

We were allocated a room in the newer wing of the hotel on the third floor. A balcony gave us a good view of the nearby mountains and the room itself was a standard hotel design, of good size, decorated with a "rustic" feel and good quality fixtures and fittings. However, you need to be very comfortable with whom you...

The hotel was worn down, old stylish (which can be cosy, but that's not the case for this hotel) rooms and furnishing. Very hard beds and the breakfast was horrible. The toilet was not in service and the staff was not helpful. It smelled like in my grandpas old house from the 20's. The only good thing was the location,...

This was our first visit to St. Gilgen and chose the Zur Post after reading through all hotels in the holiday brochure. We were not disappointed. The hotel is set right on the market square and we had paid extra for a larger room with a balcony. This looked out onto the square. The beds were very comfortable and rooms...
