this place has a chequered history. it was originally the christerbauer, and then became the brunetti hotel. now it has been renamed as the kupferkrug hotel whereas the bar has retained the name of the brunetti. all that being said, there has been no improvement in food or service. staff are very offhand and the place lacks atmosphere. this is... This is my second trip to St.Gilgen, and what a beautiful town this is right on the lakeside, this part of Austria is really stunning. The Hotel was your typical 3 star traditional Austrian place, clean, good food and comfortable. The new owners have really made an effort to make us feel at home and were hard at work getting... all in all pretty surprisingly bad. there was an actual dead spider in the food, as well as the cliché hair in the soup. the way the staff handled the issues was disappointingly rude. cannot recommend

We recently stayed at the Christerbauer (2nd to 5th Aug 2013) and found that the Hotel has deteriorated significantly since our last visit some years ago. The present owners claim that they have only been in residence since May and were left in a mess however we were met by one of the owners in shorts and tee shirt which... More

We stayed at the Christerbauer from June 19th to 26th. The standard of cleanliness was dreadful. On our first day we wrote our initials in the dust on the main staircase, they were still there when we left. We had a huge, and i mean huge cobweb under a chair in our room for 4 days. No bed sheets just... More

We found the service very good. They were also very helpful with explaining the menu. The food was very good value and a good variety. What can I say we went back most days for drinks and a meal. It was nice to be in a family run friendly place. I found out later that the hotel had been taken... More

The meals were always served at 6pm if you liked it or not Our table was always the last to served. The waiter always asked for our room and on two occasions we waited for an hour for the main course to be served. Never aske for fish and chips as the fish was burnt and the chip cold.

We two, as a couple, travelled as part of a coach party. And on the first evening we were TOLD that we had to all dine at the same time. There weren't many who objected to this demand... however, as Gizmo195 said, our evening mealtimes were altered to suit outside parties who were not residents at the hotel. On one... More

Stayed at this hotel as part of a coach party, the hotel was disappointing, all rooms and landings very dark, rooms not clean and many rooms with no door to very small toilet and shower area so thus lacking privacy. Service in the restaurant was very poor. On some evenings we were not asked if we wanted drinks with our... More

Very disappointing. The hotel is very run down with inadequate facilities and extremely poor organisation and service. As a tour group we were treated as second class and we had to fit in with other guests and oureal times were frequently changed so others could be accommodated. On one occasion some of our group were asked to leave the table... More
