We came here with Crystal and stayed in a deluxe room at the front of the hotel.
The service is excellent and we felt extremely well looked after. Staff are friendly and attentive.
The food was exceptional - 5 courses each night with a choice of fish, meat or vegetarian for main course. The cake buffet was an absolute highlight of the week.
Breakfast had a really good variety of choices - fresh bread, porridge, cereals, pastries, cold meat and cheese, fruit as well as cooked choices including eggs, bacon, omelettes, sausage.
The boot room in the cellar was secure and had heated warmers and amble place for skis and boots.
We loved the balcony overlooking the main street but the only downside(and no fault of the hotel) were the noisy revellers in the street in the early hours of the morning. We were woken up by them most nights as they left the club at 3am). Not the best way to get a good nights sleep ready for the next day on the slope.

Dear Mr. Skilass142, thank you very much for your email. We are happy to read that you enjoyed you stay so much. Saalbach is known for its Apres Ski and Club Culture as well as for the sensationall skislopes. We put 3 times window glassing in our deluxe rooms on the front side of the hotel in order to keep the noise from the people on the street at night away from our guest. But if you are a lighter sleeper probably for next year we can suggest you a superior room with balcony a little more up in the other building where our spa is as it is not directly in the city center. Just let us know the next time you book with us. We would be very happy to having you back as our guest. An in the meantime we wish you all the best for 2020. Yours Isabella in the name of the SBH-crew

We (a group of 4 adult skiers) just had probably our most memorable week's holiday in Europe at the Saalbacher Hof.
The staff were excellent from start to finish and top to bottom, nothing was ever any trouble.
Our rooms were fabulous, and the views were excellent too.
We ate breakfast and our evening meals in the main restaurant each day and the standard and varied options were also excellent.
The boot/ski room was large and not smelly, unlike quite a few we've had the misfortune to endure.
The spa facilities in the hotel are a great way to unwind after a day on the slopes.
Being in the centre of town also means access to the ski shops/banks and other places is easy as they are right on the hotel doorstep.
I would highly recommend the Saalbacher Hof and intend to revisit in the future.

This is my last night here at the Saalbacherhof hotel. I have to commend everything about this lovely hotel. I always dread paying a lot for a single room but on arrival I was given an upgrade. A double room with full bathroom the works. It's so nice to have tea making in the room. I used the pool before breakfast and again before dinner, it was always quiet and imacculately clean with plenty of green pool towels etc.
I really enjoyed the meals, the breakfast buffet selection was extensive and of good quality.
The dinners were amazing, so interesting, I loved the soups and the home made ice creams. The main courses were varied, 3 choices each night. It really is a full on banquet starting with the buffet salad, then a choice of starters, a choice of soups, main courses, a choice of 2 deserts then some very good cheeses.
I had a larhe table, the waiting staff looked after me so well I never felt uncomfortable dining alone.
The reception staff were delightful always kind, nothing was too much trouble. The house keeping ladies also kept my room beautifully clean.
The ski room is in the basement, plenty of boot warmers and racks for skis.
The hotel is central to ski lifts and shops. Lots of different nationalities staying here .
My friends came across at lunchtime and they enjoyed their food at the outside restaurant.
Thank you for a very lovely ski holiday.
Best wishes. Victoria x

We stayed here over Christmas. It is advertised as a 4 star, but the rooms we were in were more 2 star.
Tiny rooms, old fashioned and poorly decorated. We were in the side rooms alongside a gully with fast running water.Consequently, if you opened the window to let some much needed air into the room, the noise from the rushing water made it impossible to sleep.
Breakfast was good. Evening meals were weird to say the least. The chef is trying to be clever and gets it wrong more often than not. One night a piece of flabby trout served on top of a pile of semolina. Not pasta but pudding style semolina !!! Yuck. Distinct lack of vegetables. What is wrong with good Austrian food? Restaurants on the slopes manage it.
Good points were the staff, the position of the hotel and the spa.
All in all very expensive, awful rooms and poor food. Not up to usual Austrian standards.

Dear BarbieH111, we are sorry to hear that we couldn't fulfill your expectations for your holiday with us at the Saalbacher Hof. You have been staying in one of our F3 Double Room Standard - all of these rooms have been renovated in the last years and are individually designed. Every room has a special touch - some are in modern style and some are more traditional. For dinner we like to offer a variety of side dishes that is more than potatoes, pasta or rice. If you don't like semolina, then there is always the chance of changing it. All the best, the SBH-Crew

We stayed here approx 6 years ago and had a fabulous experience - lovely room, all staff superb and the food was consistently of the highest quality.
This experience was a complete disappointment on every level. There are numerous good quality hotels in Saalbach I would recommend you avoid the Saalbacher Hof which is now ridiculously over priced for the average service it delivers.
Our first room was right above the nightclub - that speaks for itself.
Our second room tucked away in the old side of the hotel although a good size was totally dated and unacceptable for a £1,500 a head rate.
The food was just average - bland and repetitive with the worst offering I have ever seen in a restaurant being a cold cube of sweet potato with a mushroom in it….that is literally what we were presented with.
One morning we arrived for breakfast to find no cereals, no coffee, no milk, quite literally nothing to eat or drink.
The breakfast chef could only manage 1 thing at a time so people were angrily queuing and giving up. Even I can cook 2 eggs at the same time.

what should have been a nice holiday ended in a disappointment where management does not pay attention to criticism
the family room would be fine for 3 children, but in practice the bed wobbles and my daughter slept on a mattress on the floor for 6 nights. We also received confirmation that we would sleep in a quiet room.....at 5.30 am the garbage was collected and the hotel was also supplied, which also woke us up considerably from our sleep.
the food is really inedible. strange combinations such as the wine list. New Year's Eve was a complete mockery and the children also had to eat fried squid for EUR 115 per person, which even the parents did not dare to swallow. really terrible the quality of the kitchen.
In addition, I have never paid so much for a hotel, but the price-quality ratio is really below par and I feel completely cheated.
what is much more annoying is the tension that is clearly noticeable between management and staff. the management is really scandalous with scolding staff and guests are also insulted.
Nothing was done with the criticism we cited, which means that we left very dissatisfied and never want to have anything to do with this organization again.
my advice; stay away and spread the word

Dear Mr. daanr2024, hereby we want to respond to your review and state our view of things: On the 27th of November we have offered you a Deluxe Suite or a Deluxe for you and a Junior suite for the kids as our deluxe rooms with connecting doors were not available anymore. After sending the offer, you wanted to know how big the Grand lit bed in the Family Suite is, as you wrote (or your wife) that two kids need to sleep there. We wrote you back that the Grand lit is 140cm wide and 200 long so. So you were aware of the sizes of the beds offered in the Family Suite Deluxe before you made the booking. You did ask for an extra matress in the room, since your kids didn't want to sleepin one bed (which size-wise is large enough). We have even offered you a single room free of charge from the 1st of January, since we wanted to offer you a solution. But this you refused too. Also we did send you the information of the location of the room. If you book a hotel in the middle of the centre of Saalbach, there will be never any silence to 100%. Since there is only one street though town where all the deliveries and also garbage collectors needs to go through. When you arrived the first evening you had dinner in our 5-Elements Restaurant. The next day you came and asked if you can change the reservation to breakfast only so we reduced the half board and gave you a normal rack rate for breakfast. Since it was two days before New Years Eve and we knew that all restaurants are fully booked already, we have asked if you want to join in for the New Years Eve Gala Dinner. We have told you via phone two times that is costs €115,- per person for the 7 course dinner. During your stay you have never mentioned that the food was not of your taste. You have only said, that your kids don't like the kids menu. We tried to find solutions during your stay, but you have only been writing threatening emails and never tried to contact us in person. What we would have prefered. And in the end you also left with your invoice unpaid. So we think that your point of view and our point of view is really different. All the best, Carina & Isabella

We had an amazing time at Hotel Saalbacher Hof this august. Visiting with four friends, the hotel was the perfect place to stay: it has everything we could've wanted and needed, including indoor and outdoor pools, very good spa treatments, bike rental, a great restaurant, etc. etc.!
The restaurant deserves to be mentioned especially: the staff was beyond friendly and helpful, and every day we had 5 great courses, with choices between regular or (extra) healthy options. Breakfast offered a great buffet with a green smoothie as our favourite item.
The staff went above and beyond for us. I was impressed with how much every detail of the hotel is so well thought-through and taken care of. From a morning journal with tips and ideas at the breakfast table, to being so accommodating with special requests, booking spa treatments, and so on.
We will certainly be back, hopefully already next winter for a ski holiday!

After many years of snowboarding on my own, this was to be our 1st family ski trip…
I don’t think we could of picked a better hotel or location.
Travelling with 3 beginners we were perfectly located to the ski school and the lifts.
The kids loved the days and coming to relax in the pool and spa area.
Breakfast and dinner was varied and filling and a nice way to wind down ready for bed.
We would like to thank everyone for such a great holiday

Stayed here for a few days in beginning of September to relax in the spa/pool and hike in the mountains. Excellent place for doing so!
5 stars for the hotel and 2,5 for the restaurant, so rounding it up to 4 :)
Hotel is great and the service from the reception amazing. Breakfast really good. Spa and pool facilities are really nice, although there are some of the spa features that isnt functional in the area. We could live with that. Generally it is in good condition, clean and very nice to relax in.
Joker card is included, which grants access to several of the lifts in the area in summertime, which we used for a few hikes around the surrounding alps. Stunning experience.
The only reason that we arent granting 5 stars is because of the restaurant, which could be better. The breakfast is very nice and we have nothing to complain about with that, but the 5-course dinner was not that good. In our opinion they strive to be more advanced and more luxurious, that they actually are capable of, which left us with an odd feeling. Especially because most of the food only was OK. I think I would downgrade the ambitions around the restaurants and make it more simple. It would have left us with a better impression.
Would love to come back, but next time we find different place to dine in the city.

The Saalbacher Hof is a lovely hotel, where all the staff are very professional and caring. The food is excellent in the dining room, five courses all exceptionally tasty and beautifully presented. The bedrooms are spacious and the views amazing, with very comfortable beds. The waiting staff were very helpful, explaining the menu, and the reception staff were polite and knowledgeable. We did a tour of the hotel with the owner Isabella which was very interesting, learning about her family. Can definitely recommend.
