Thurnerhof is absolutely the hidden gem in Ski Circus Saalbach, Leogang, Fieberbrung, Vierhofen. We come to this place for many years already, but the owner definitely is on a mission with a clear vision: relaxing in a luxury setting. Over the years there were many improvements that started with the upgrade of the rooms. They have now done a completely restructure of the whole place. A relaxing area with sauna’s and even a infinity pool we’re added. Out of the pool area you have a clear view without any blockings over the slopes. If heaven exists on earth, this is heaven. After a nice breakfast including salmon and a glass of Prosecco, the free shuttle brings you to the lift of your choice. You are normally able to ski back to the hotel, but you are also allowed to grab a taxi in the village on cost of the hotel. Although the hotel is on walking distance of Saalbach center and ski busses are available this extra service is making your stay even more comfortable. With the new chef, dinner is a celebration. A salad bar and a five courses menu that is part of the half board make it a real treat. Wine pairing is possible, but also the numerous gin, cocktails and rums are worth it. Keeping in mind that the skiing areas is one of the best in Europe, the same with the après-ski, it must be that you create good memories. Thurnerhof’s staff is making the extra mile. In a relaxed atmosphere the provide service with a smile. Where in some places it feels forced, here you feel that staff just like to give you a great time during holiday. We will definitely come back as we always do, can’t wait for next year!

Super příjemný a přátelský hotel s milou obsluhou mluvící česky nebo slovensky, výborné jídlo, čisté pěkné pokoje, parkování pod stříškou, absolutně vynikající poloha, klid a rozhled. Možnost mít s sebou psíka. Perfectly placed hotel on the hill with friendly staff, beautiful view on Saalbach, quiet relaxing area. Excellent food, nice and clean room, parking under roof, small dog accepted.

After deciding that Saalbach was going to be our first venture into the Austrian Alps for a week's skiing, we spent quite some time researching accommodation options. Hotel-Appartments Thurnerhof was, on paper, the right balance of quality, location and price - and the reality certainly matched expectations! For some, the location might be an issue. Perched on the side of a hill on the outskirts of Saalbach, you are nowhere near the hustle and bustle of Saalbach. This is mitigated, however, by the complimentary minibus which will take you from the hotel's front door to the lift at Vorderglemm or any of the lifts in Saalbach. A quick phone call will get you the same complimentary service back to the hotel in the evening (between 3pm and 6pm). If you're enjoying the apres a little too much and miss the 6pm deadline, you'll need to grab a taxi which will set you back about 10 EUR. The hotel is technically ski-to-door, but unfortunately we didn't receive any directions for this and as a result tried to get back to the hotel on the first evening across farmland, which wasn't a lot of fun. Only when we were waiting for our transfer back to the airport did I see directions for the actual route back to the hotel, which would have been much easier. And herein lies my only real criticism of the hotel - the staff weren't overly forthcoming with information nor interactiveness and friendliness for that matter. Everything was very matter-of-fact and efficient, but not much more. The pros far outweighed the cons, however. The food was simply outstanding - evening meals were most definitely restaurant quality and the breakfast was varied and plentiful with the added bonus of some bubbles to kick things off! The rooms were spacious with balconies overlooking the glorious snow-covered valley. The sauna was a lovely addition and despite my other British travelling companions not willing to experience the liberating (i.e. naked) experience, I thoroughly enjoyed a pretty unique (to me) way of unwinding after a day's skiing. I could write many paragraphs on how wonderful the Saalbach region is for skiing and partying, but having this great hotel as a base just topped off a superb week.

This must be one of the best value hotels in Austria. We have stayed here on numerous occasions both in the summer and the winter and every visit has been superb. Hermann Kroll and his family run a wonderful hotel which is a pleasure to stay in. Hermann and all the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and really make every effort to ensure your stay is a special one. Meals and rooms are first class and we intend to keep coming back as often as we can. A fantastic hotel which provides all of it's guests with wonderful service. Highly recommended. Not long back from our second visit with the kroll family at hotel Thurnerhof and it was a Privilege to spend Christmas there. Beautiful surroundings, absolutely five star food and a wonderful traditional Christmas Eve with drinks round the tree whilst all the children placed candles on the tree. Truly memorable and I think probably the best value in Saalbach. My sister in law couldn’t get in so stopped in a town centre hotel for the same price and we certainly got the better Value and accommodation. Will definitely return to Thurnerhof again and won’t look elsewhere

Stayed here for 3 nights in August 2018. The place is simply awesome. The views from our rooms were breathtaking. We had our breakfast and dinners included in our package. The dinners were amazing on all nights. Breakfast However got very monotonous as there was no change in the menu for our entire stay. The staff were very warm towards us and took great care of us throughout our stay. We were travelling with a 2 year old and they were very accommodating of all his needs as well. Highly recommended place to make your base as it's not very far from Zell am See and the grosslockner. Kudos to the entire team at hotel thurnerhof

This is the third time over the past 6-7 years that we have been staying at Thurnerhof during summer, and it’s really excellent value. The location is up on a plateau with a view of the valley in both directions. Very serene and relaxing atmosphere since traffic is only heard from a distance. Rooms are nice and clean. We have chosen the half board on two visits and it’s highly recommended. The breakfast has all that can be asked for, my personal favorite being the big muesli- and cereal buffet. The dinner is three course with with a special option for children. Excellent food. The serving staff is responsive and took care of some special diet requirements we had. Thurnerhof has a nice small sport field for basket, football, tennis etc, a kids playing ground and table tennis plus sauna in the basement. This place together with the all the various activities in the valley has made our three trips absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended and well worth a stay.

Location: very nice and beautiful, you can see the mountains from any window. It is not in the city center, but you can easily take their shuttle service to the main points, or also by taxi, which is very cheap because of the short distance Room: was very confortable and spacious, shower was great Food: from breakfast to dinner, everything was very good, with freshness and variety Staff: very friendly, kind and gentle Spa: two types of sauna, a relaxing area outdoor and indoor, both were great It was a pleasant and lovely stay, we will definitely come back!

We booked Saalbach a bit late this year, hence staying slightly further out. But we needn't have worried. The family-run Thurnerhof is a perfect spot for relaxing ski holiday and draws a mix of nationalities and groups. Brits are definitely in the minority (not a bad thing) but everybody was friendly, the atmosphere very relaxed and Herr Kroll (and his extended family) was always around to help with help or advice. Children are welcome and there are ample places areas downstairs and outside for them to let off steam (wish we'd known this place when ours were younger!) There are new spa/sauna facilities (enjoyed by Mr S) and spacious ski and boot rooms) The hotel runs a free shuttle service to the three main lifts in time for ski school through until around 10am, then in the evening a local taxi company takes over - free for four people and 5 euro for less than five. You can ski down a long zig zag track through the woods (20+ bends) straight to the chalet, or catch the ski bus - the track up is short but pretty steep (no thanks with skis and boots!) Taxi into the top of town - Spitzbub bar etc - about 10 euros. Walk to the top of town 20-25 (taking it easy) We all enjoyed the food - good varied breakfast (hot options on request), and very tasty suppers, although not always quite sure what we were going to get with one or two interesting translations in the menu! We were in the new rooms on the second floor (there is an elevator) which were quiet, very comfy and spacious, lovely new decoration throughout and a balcony overlooking the town - our only gripe, as always, was that we were too hot with big thick duvets and we ended up sleeping with the windows open despite it being absolutely freezing outside. Perhaps it's just us?! All-in-all a great hotel and I'd definitely recommend it.
