Very old hotel with unfriendly and poor services. Staff is from Serbia or Poland... breakfast only from 8h (skilifts open @ 8.15h) and diner is very basic. My recommendation is to take an other hotel.
We were with about 17 all together and came from Switserland and Belgium in an age range of 4 months to 85 years and we all had a blast. The weather was exceptionaly good. Spend our week with canyoning, visiting the Lindling Alm, climbing the Hochzelipark. Food and rinks were all in and of good quallity. The barbecue was remarcably good and we had a ball in the Montana Bar. The staff was verry child friendly and we all will see them again cause we had a great holliday.
I stayed at Hotel Austria this weekend . Service was very poor . There was rarely anyone behind the reception at any time . They expect you to honk a horn on that they leave on the counter to get their attention out in the kitchen / restaurant to then be greeted with a very angry looking owner/ wife that struggle to want to communicate to you in English regardless of being able to speak it (a quick tip - learn Austrian if you want to stay here and receive a smile!! :) ) There was a group of 5 of us so we all had different size rooms (a couple shared so the rooms were bigger ) My room was tiny and cold and had a small bucket under the radiator to capture the leaking water!! If you are looking for a very basic stay and to spend most of the day away from Hotel Austria then consider it .. If its comfort and friendliness you are after , you may want to look elsewhere…
The location of this hotel is good, the ski bus stops are right outside the hotel which take you to both Hinterglemm and Saalbach. The rooms are adequate but like everyone else had said, there is no soap so take your own. There is a ski locker available for each room. Breakfast was good, not a massive choice for perfectly adequate. Dinner was OK, you get soup and/or salad for starter, a set main course and desert. It would have been better if there was a couple of choices for main course though. This hotel does not accept card payments and you can't add drinks onto your room bill so make sure you have cash with you! There are a few parking spaces at the front of the hotel. Hinterglemm is good for apres ski, make sure you go to the goabstall, absolutely brilliant apres ski and good watching drunk skiers trying to make it back down the last 100m of the piste! We ate away from the hotel a couple of nights and there are plenty of restaurants to chose from. Its a 10-15 minute walk to Hinterglemm, Saalbach is further and costs about 10 euros in a taxi. If you want to hire skis, I would recommend the Sport 2000 shop in Saalbach as its at the bottom of the gondola (pre book to get it cheaper).…
OK starting with positive: hotel room was very clean, hotel quiet, ski bus stop right outside the hotel, OK breakfast, staff generally friendly Negative: despite being 3 star hotel, no soap or other toiletries! A bit far from town center. No staff in reception after 4pm...And the best bit: we were first guests that day so we parked our car sideways. When leaving the hotel and trying to catch ski bus we were told to move the car and park it different way so that it is more space for other guests who are coming later. We asked if we can do that when we are back from skiing because our ski bus was in 1min and we left car keys in the room. Staff told us it will be ok. When back from slopes we noticed that the car was already moved! When we asked the staff who did it they called hotel owner who stated that it is his hotel and he can enter any room if needed. He felt that it was necessary to enter our room, search for car keys and move our car! I do understand his point but the way he dealt with our complain was unacceptable, his costumer service skills were awful...Instead of apologizing and saying that he needed to move the car, he just laughed and gave his attitude that he can do whatever he can because he is the owner. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone unless you have no choice and everything is booked...…
Rooms are comfortable and clean , but there was no soap available . Meals are basic but you have a daily saladbar . All-inclusive formula = beer , wine and softdrinks available but you have to pay if you want a coffee after dinner : ?? . Staff is friendly but they don't give enough explinations spontanuously ( not even when you speak their own language ) . Hotel does not include the jokercard so when you want to do some hiking you have to pay for the cableways and bus ( indicated hiking trails start often at a certain height which require use of cableways , and at a certain distance from the hotel ) : this was a big disappointment for us , because this jokercard is not for sale and is normally provided by all the hotels in the same region .
This hotel is nice despite being a bit out of town. To get to the main slopes in hinterglemm or saalbach you need to catch the ski bus which is quite regular. There was a drag lift about 5-7 mins away that you can use to zigzag across to the main area in hinterglemm. If you want a hotel right by the slopes this isn't exactly ideal. The ski room is good with large lockers. The double room we had was a good size but the single room was rather pokey with a very small shower room. Both rooms had balconies and you can slightly hear the traffic from the street if the windows are open as it's on the main road to hinterglemm. One thing we found strange was that there was no soap in the bedrooms! It seems odd to have a hair dryer and other 3* facilities but no soap, and the reception staff didn't have any when asked too. The food was good although so much meat! If you're a veggie I have no idea what you would do!? 3 courses every night which was great after a full day skiing! We got to try some nice local dishes which were very tasty. The sauna/spa area is very nice in this hotel, almost one that should belong to a 5* hotel, it's very nicely set up and very relaxing (as long as kids aren't let loose!) Luckily there's a bar as we were sometimes too tired to walk into the town and back at night! Staff are very efficient and welcoming.…
This cosy family-run hotel is home to a mixed crowd of Austrian holidayers and Dutch Sunweb-subscribers, with the majority of the latter having read somewhere the hotel is "just 50 meters from the slopes". The hotel is located right on the dash of Saalbach-Hinterglemm, a perfect location for admirers of the Winterwanderweg and other mountain walking or hiking activities, but it's not ideal for fans of the over 200km of slopes surrounding the area. A skibus connects well to the lifts in Hinterglemm and walking takes about 14 minutes. For patrons of the night seeking relief halfway the trip: the fence surrounding the field on the LHS is not electric, so feel free. A few remarks on the amenities: decent beds in spacious rooms, well-equipped kitchen and sufficient parking space.
Just can't fault this family run hotel. Food is excellent, rooms spacious and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. facilities for skiers are excellent with dry room and lockers. Definitely value for money compared to France..........
Just spent the week in this hotel, the staff are all super friendly. Food was to a good standard. It's a 10 minute walk into the town centre and if you want to off piste it you can get almost to the door. It has a very nice spa area, which is all modern and clean. I had a single room at the front of the hotel which was spacious with good views and a balcony. The negative points are only minor ones - towels in the rooms are rather small and getting dated and the bed linen is getting a bit bobbly. I would definatly stay here again .
