Every step of the way, you are accompanied by tasteful Alpine style and a brand of sincerity that quickly turns guests into friends. Location It doesn't get any better than this... Hotel Tauernhof enjoys a quiet yet central location in the town center of Kaprun. Our house serves as an ideal base for hikes, water sports on the Zeller See, sightseeing trips, as well as wintery skiing enjoyment on the nearby pistes of the Zell am See-Kaprun ski area. Kaprun Kaprun lies in the Pinzgau district, surrounded by the wonderful mountain world of the Hohe Tauern range as well as the Zell am See-Kaprun region. This small mountain village of barely 3.000 residents charmingly combines tradition and modernity. Guests from around the world treasure the breathtaking nature all around us and the sincere brand of hospitality for which SalzburgerLand is renowned. But don't just take our word for it - experience it all for yourself, during your vacation at Hotel Tauernhof. A 60-year tradition of hospitality unites the Gschwandtner family with the Tauernhof. From the time this place was opened back in 1953, the mother of Gerald Gschwandtner ran the inn with her three sisters. Over the years, the family business was steadily expanded, most recently in 2012 with the building of a new, 500 m² wellness oasis christened the "Tauernreich". And so it was that, over the course of time, an inn was transformed into a hotel, one that more than does justice to the high expectations of modern hospitality. Tradition tried-and-true Today it is Gerald Gschwandtner and wife Inge who run the Tauernhof, constantly keeping a close eye on the wellbeing of their guests. With their children Rudi and Christina, the next generation is already standing right there at their side in order to continue a time-tested tradition on into the future. We look forward to having the privilege of welcoming you here in person! Family Gschwandtner & the Tauernhof Team

We last stayed at the Tauernhof in 2015 and are glad to say that we found that the standard of food and service were still excellent. Food, comfort, cleanliness and accommodating staff are our priority. It is in a good location, and the inclusion of a summer card for travelling including mountain lifts is a considerable bonus, particularly for June/September.

We have visited Kaprun many times for a family ski holiday, and returned for the first week in April 2019 to Hotel Tauernhof, which rates as one of our best experiences to date in Austria. We booked direct, and arranged flights through Jet2 and the Taxi recommended by the hotel staff. From receptionists to restaurant staff, all staff very professional and friendly. Housekeeping excellent throughout, we can really find no fault with the hotel. A big advantage of the location is that the ski-bus stops in both directions directly outside the hotel, and therefore skiers can travel to any of Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, Maiskogelbahn or Zell am See ski areas, without having to change bus, a big bonus. Ski-hire shops within an easy walk, but be aware of the big price variance. Top Tip: Book online in advance through www.alpinresorts (Spiz Kaprun), and save nearly 50%, compared to Intersport Brundel branches. Snow in first week of April was variable - great powder up on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier (visit the Gipfelwelt & Audi Ice Camp!), but the lower slopes of Zell Am See were very heavy going, pm. The Maiskogelbagn had poor snow cover and was closed. Hotel facilities included nice pool, saunas, fitness room, table tennis, table football and large snooker table. Our rooms were Lechnerberg suites, which we believe justified the slightly higher cost than he standard rooms. Accommodation was well appointed, and decor throughout the hotel typical Austrian and so much better than most UK hotels!

A beautiful hotel! Everything about it is amazing. Traditional decor. Very clean. Staff are very warm, friendly and professional! A special mention of daisy and gabor - both so lovely! The food is outstanding- the best ever in a ski resort. Only 10-15 min ride to glacier lifts. And 5 mins to the other.

Visited the Hotel Tauernhof with my 11 year old son for a snowboarding holiday. Hotel Tauernhof is a beautiful “homely” hotel and the staff and very friendly and attentive. The rooms are kept clean and is very warm. The food is of a high standard and nicely presented. There is a nice small pool and adult sauna rooms for a well needed relax. The location is perfect and the lechenberg slope being behind the hotel and this is where the lessons meet each morning. The cable cars to the Maiskogel and glazier mountain slopes are about a 400 meter walk! We would recommend this hotel and we will definitely return.

Just back from a week in Kaprun staying at the Tauernhof. We arrived late (around 9pm) and were delighted that the hotel had kept back some warm food for dinner, even though service had already finished. What a great start to our holiday after a long day travelling. We were a family of five and had three rooms, including a single for my son who was delighted with having his own space. Rooms were warm, spacious and comfortable with plenty of storage space - a nice touch was the small rucksack provided in each room to carry things when away from the hotel. The hotel decor is traditional Austrian and was in excellent condition and the entire hotel was spotlessly clean. The food was excellent - huge variety at breakfast, good choice of savoury and sweet afternoon tea (3pm-4:30pm) and four course evening meal (and then cheese!) with a children's option every evening. The quality of ingredients and the preparation/presentation was very high and I particularly enjoyed the wild boar on our final evening. The staff were polite, attentive and always ready to help. The spa facilities were outstanding and worthy of a much larger hotel - a pool with 'family' sauna and then a separate area for adults with three facilities (steam, dry sauna etc.), along with a couple of rooms for general relaxation, as well as massage on offer. There is a ski storage room accessible from both inside and outside the hotel including facilities for drying boots overnight. Ski school is immediately behind the hotel and the buses for Maiskogel, Kaprun Glacier and Zell am See all stop outside the hotel - none of them more than 10-15 mins away. There are multiple ski rental shops within 100 yards and a supermarket 10 mins walk away. The hotel also has a games room with football table, pool table and so on. There is a separate fitness room across from the ski storage room with a running machine, bike and cross/ski-fit machine, along with table tennis. If I could make one suggestion, it would be to put some more equipment in this room - it has the space and a multi-gym for some weight/resistance training would be a particulalry welcome addition. I cannot fault this hotel - it is the best we have booked for a skiing holiday. You will not be disappointed.
