An excellent centre for our family skiing holiday. Superb food and a great spa with saunas and swimming pool. Situated above the main town but with regular bus connections to the various pistes during the day, or by a short walk to the centre it has fantastic views along the valley. Very clean and with helpful staff providing good service at breakfast and the four course dinner. The bar and lounge was lively in the evening and it also has a games room with ping-pong and fussball. Would highly recommend.
This hotel does not deserve 4 starts. It is pretty old, and would need renovation. The restaurant is overcrowded. However, the view is nice, both from restaurant and room. Room is old-fashioned. The price was definitely not high, especially comparing to the surrounding.
Enjoyed a very relaxed family stay. Great views from spacious well appointed room, fabulous scenic walks/hikes, good breakfasts though evening meals were mixed, but basically fine with half board option. So many public areas, terraces and rooms to relax in throughout the hotel and spa was well appointed and the views spectacular. My only complaint is that although there was a designated smoking area, people were smoking on the terrace. It would be great if there were no smoking signs there please!!
My family and I spent Christmas at the Hotel Alpenkrone in Filzmoos. We love the homely style of the hotel and were welcomed by all the friendly staff who made us feel so welcome. It was like staying with family - without the stress! Christmas at home will have a hard time competing in future!
I spent 2 weeks walking in the Filzmoos area with a very good friend, stopping at the Alpekrone hotel. The area is lovely, the only drawback being the lack of cheap deals for public transport in the area - the local "wanderbus" gives reasonable access - but it's fairly expensive. The local alms are of a good quality, we visited a fair few of them, enjoying good views of the Dachstein mountain area. We were very happy with the Alpenkrone itself. The rooms were clean and tidy, the showers were easy to use (always a bonus after a hot day on a hill!) and the beds were comfortable. The food provided was very good - the breakfast in particular (it had the widest choice of all the breakfasts I have seen so far in Austria). The hotel has a good view towards the local mountain nicknamed "The Bishops hat", and the terrace makes a fine place to have a drink and chat while watching the world go by. However we both thought that the strength of the Alpenkrone was it's staff - the waiters and waitresses in particular were very friendly and hard working, both myself and my friend expressed our thanks at the time, and we do so again. Vielen Danke from Simon and John.…
We stayed here for a week in June and the staff, room and food were wonderful. It is made clear the hotel is set above the village and to access it there is either a steep path or via the road so be prepared for a hike either way. We were given a choice of rooms on our arrival and chose a village view, which did cost us an extra €50 but was well worth it for the fabulous views and also that the rooms are very quiet on that side of the hotel. Food was lovely and plentiful but restaurant is very large and that meant tables very close together and sometimes noisy due to large number of people (it is open for public use as well as residents). The swimming pool, although small, was spotless with plenty of sun loungers and chairs to relax in. Lovely walks direct from the door and a nice terraced area for drinks which again overlooks the lovely village below.…
This hotel is not the best I have stayed in . the fruit juice at breakfast was watered down .the soups was like dishwater ,after 6 pm the reception was closed as the receptionist was helping in the dining area , which says to me they were short staffed.we so some guests getting there key from behind the desk which could have resulted in someone taking other guest.s keys .we have been to Austria a number of times and in my view this is the worst one we have been in.
Booked this a hotel through Inghams for a weeks stay. Probably not the hotels fault but Inghams failed to mention the steep hill in their brochure and my bad for not reading the reviews first. Not for the unfit climbing back up to the hotel 🙂 On arrival they will try and upgrade you to a better room for €50 a week. I would avoid room 512 if you can. It was the first room off ‘the tunnel’ and wasn’t particularly warm. There was a towel rail in the bathroom but there was no way of turning it on, so our towels were always damp. There was a good selection of food on offer for breakfast, but the layout was awful. Evening meals were interesting, but I think they were trying too hard on presentation and being fancy. Service was rushed and they wanted everyone out of the restaurant by 8pm. Overall it was only average for me and not what I expect from a 4* hotel. Filzmoos itself is a very nice village with lots of walking routes for summer visitors with 1 cable car in operation to get you up in the mountains for fantastic views. …
While looking for an hotel for our family vacation, we found this awasome hotel in Filzmoos. We have been there 4 families for an entire week. The location is fantastic, the facility too. Go for it. There is a swimming pool, pool table, ping pong table, great sauna.
