Detailed Reviews
The frontdesk and cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful. The Michaela resturant has good food, nice staff, however they take a while to bring your order. Room was clean, bed were amazingly comfortable. It has a safe for your valuable things, 2 armchairs (single sofa) with nightstand, A/C, clean bathroom, just that hot water wasn't working properly (not hot enough), also comes with LED TV with cable service and wifi. The little villa, has a nice terrace where you could sit and watch the sunset, the pool and have a couple drinks there relaxed. It also has a mini fridge (this was very helpful). Perfect blend of beach and nature. Pool has an amazing view of the beach. The beach is just right there (20 mts away from the pool). Right outside the hotel (walking distance) you have restaurants, laundry service, little bars and if you walk a little bit more you have Terpel gas station which has a convenient store where you find ice, beverages, grab and go food, etc.
I'll come back with no hesitation.

Located in the best spot of the beach,
Pool facing the ocean with a large hot tub in the pool side,
Rooms are large and very comfy
Clean and well maintained !
The michaela restaurant is the best in the area .
and this is probably
Why the hotel is fully booked.

Beautiful Resort and Villas! The Staff is very friendly and helpful. Walking distance from little town with Restaurants, Shops, Bakery, Mini Market and more. Resort also has great restaurants onsite with delicious food and friendly staff. You can Surf, do Yoga or just lounge around and enjoy the Sunrise and Sunset. You are surrounded by beautiful nature!

The room was a reasonable size but only one light working despite reporting . Luckily we had a torch . Worst was the single beach restaurant with uncomfortable chairs and most menu items were unavailable. Same at breakfast, coffee only and no teas or milk alternatives. We eventually went and bought our own food in . Definitely over priced at $200 ++ a room ….we had booked three rooms
There are better priced and catered hotels in this area

Very expensive for the service they offer.
It needs renovation, the sheets and towels are yellow and torn.
Very friendly service, but you have to ask for everything, for the price they charge daily they do not provide the necessary service.
Poorly maintained garden.
Nothing to do with a resort, normal

Awesome resort with excellent service. The resort is so relaxing, everything is contained in close proximity. The ocean is right there for surfing and beach volleyball. There is a beach shower. The infinity pool is large and awesome. The restaurant has excellent food and great service. Definitely coming back!!

Five relatives and I were unlucky enough to stay from December 23rd to the 27th at Playa Venao Hotel Resort in the Pedasi area of Panama. We rented 4 villas, the most expensive accommodations in the resort. We were all family, all adults. We chose this hotel because we were told it was the best in the area. A friend and his family rented a room from the 22nd to the 23rd in order to spend a day with us. So I guess that makes 5 rooms we paid for altogether. Big, big mistake.
1) We had to pay almost a month in advance; the full fare for all rooms. Take it or leave it. We were charged the moment I submitted my credit card. Bad omen, bad start. I made reservations by phone, submitted my card by phone, and never received an email confirmation. Bad vibes from the start.
2)The general beach area is fantastic, beautiful, the sand is not white, it's brown but the resort is located in a spectacular small bay. The installations and the pool are attractive but lack of maintenance becomes immediately evident. Everything about the hotel looks run down, old, musty, rotting away.
3)In particular: The pool is in bad need of restoration. The finish of the pool is colored concrete and the color is fading, in some parts of the pool the color is gone leaving the concrete barren.
4)The vast wood deck around the pool is old, it seems as if it has never been maintained, and many of the boards are rotten. The pool deck is plain dangerous.
5)There are a few bohios around the pool, the hatched roofs are gray-dry, rotting away. The wood poles holding the roofs have termite lanes (like crusty veins) running from the ground up. A termite bit my son-in-law, a former Marine, leaving him a nickel size welt on his thigh. Geckos abound. The same is the case with the top-ticket cabins where the roofs are about to collapse (more on this later).
6)The grass around the property has more weeds than grass proper.
7)The place is badly understaffed. Three or four waiters, two "staff" guys, and the waiters take turns tending the desk. No life-guard for the pool or beach, no safety signs around a pool that in places in way over 6 feet deep. Very dangerous.
8)The TV in the room is located above the front entrance which makes it very difficult to watch or hear at a reasonable volume. Absurd. Internet and cable service is sporadic. Electricity went out for several hours during one of the days we stayed there.
9)The food is mediocre, everything revolves around three seasonings: coconut and curry, something with ketchup, and something else. I spent three days fishing with my daughter and son-in-law (our own arrangements), we brought fish back to the hotel to be cooked at the restaurant, but the people in the kitchen seemed to keep most of it. Disgraceful.
10)But to worst part was when my son-in-law fell through one of the rotten boards on the deck in front of his cabin. He stepped to go in his room, the rotten board broke and his leg fell all the way through. He injured badly his thigh, his elbow, and had bruises in other parts of his body. His neck hurt for the next following days. The attached picture is from three days after the fall.
11)We thought he had broken his leg. We called for help at the desk and they sent a gardener to offer us a small bottle of Merthiolate (a white liquid that looked like alcohol to me) and two (2) small balls of cotton. I cleaned up the wounds myself.
12)I then walked to the desk to talk to the manager who didn't know what to do or say. Finally she offered, under her "word of honor" that we'd be "compensated" for the "accident". This all happened the first day we got to the hotel. My son-in-law is young and strong and we accepted to wait for the specifics of the "compensation" as she needed to talk to the owner of the hotel who was in his cabin nearby.
13)We decided to make the best of it and let matters rest. However, the last day at the hotel, as we were checking out, I asked for the "compensation" as we were being charged for the food we had consumed. The manager said she hadn't been able to talk to the owner as he was sick in his cabin and she couldn't approach him. She said she would write to us and let us know what he had decided to do.
14)Finally, after an acrimonious argument, as we felt cheated, we left... to never return.
15)The Playa Venao Resort Hotel is a run-down place, poorly maintained, the wood boards brake if you are not careful and can seriously, maybe even fatally, hurt you, and the owner of the hotel won't decide after three days what to do about an injury you sustained as a result of his lack of responsibility.
16)Sadly, that area of Panama is being bought up by some decent investors, and others who invest with the purpose of laundering money. I certainly am not accusing the owner of the Playa Venao Resort Hotel of anything except his lack of respect and consideration for his paying customers. In any case, the place needs maintenance and care if their purpose is offering minimally decent service to their clients.
17)I do NOT recommend anyone to stay at the Playa Venao Resort Hotel, unless they want to risk their lives.

I am writing after a 3 month delay and constant correspondence with booking.com and the Hotel Playa Venao Hotel Resort to receieve my $200 refund. We cancelled the booking well in advance of our stay and well within the free refund time, but the hotel had taken the money from our account 2 months before we were even due to stay with them! Not only this but the refund was not processed and they informed booking.com that it had been! Appalling from a supposedly reputable hotel! Then after booking.com chasing them and many emails from myself I directly spoke to Jose, the manager who was supposed to deal with the refund, after days of sending him my correct account details to numerous addresses, he insisted he needed my account details! A huge joke and I fully believe that he was stalling, or refusing payment doing this. After them telling booking.com it would be rectified, after 7 phone calls to booking.com to try and push through a refund and contact the hotel they still have not given me a refund!! I would like to add that booking.com have been extremely helpful throughout, and are now refunding me directly and going to invoice the hotel, but I cannot believe the customer service that has been shown by the hotel. Having travelled a lot and been to many hotels and booked many online and also been given refunds for canceled bookings quickly and simply. This is the most appalling Hotel I have ever dealt with. I am not one to complain often even though I am writing this now, however i feel so strongly about the Hotels appalling service and treatment that I feel you are much better served looking at alternative hotels in the area.
I hope the Hotel sorts its customer service out better and works on its honesty in business especially after blatantly lying to booking.com regarding information that a refund had been processed!!

A wonderful location for chillaxing...the heart of this amazing property is the well maintained infinity pool...which has a fantastic view of the surf in both directions...honestly, you could not imagine a finer vista...
Mornings start off with an included breakfast...French press coffee gets the engine revved up for the day...my wife and I are on a Paleo diet which was accommodated nicely...it just means that we did not have the toast, yogurt, and granola...we opted for the fresh fruit plate of pineapple, papaya, and watermelon along with a veggie omelette and chili sauce...
We skipped lunch as we were paddling and surfing...but, we ready to eat come dinner time...
Starting off with a healthy green salad...the adding the fresh sea bass and/or tuna...which was very tasty...and, we also had the steak filet on alternate evenings...so good and tender...obviously grass fed as the farms around here seem to be endless fields of green...
We were always well attended to...most evenings we ended up with leftovers which we added to the morning omelette...Armenio and Kevin did a great job...
I should also mention that the tap H20 is perfect...we actually preferred it to the bottled H20 and would refill our containers...
The grounds are maintained by a very nice staff...everyone had a smile and was cordial...
Roberto went out of his way to ensure that our stay was everything we wanted it to be...
The bad was very comfy...as were the pillows...two per person...
It was not that hot...but, the overhead fan and AC kept the room cool...
It rained several days...but, not all day long...and, the sun came out during the day...just gorgeous with the greenery...we even standup paddled in the creek beside our cabin...
We met the owners and complimented them on the unique ambiance of the resort...they even hooked us up with a local guide who provided first hand knowledge of the different paddling locations and got us there and back safely...thank you Richy!
We own property in Mexico and have traveled there extensively...we have also spent time in the Hawaiian Islands...but, I would rate this experience right up near the top...friendly people...good food...good waves...surreal beauty...and, we even had a turtle crawl up on the beach to lay eggs right in front of the hotel restaurant...we can't wait to return!

Not much to chose from, ended up here. Place had nice beds, AC worked well and the water was hot although there was no water for the first five hours we were there as the pipes were being worked on. The place is obviously under construction $200 a night is a bit steep for an unfinished "resort". Ants were everywhere in the room especially at night.
Very disappointed by the service. We had no bath towels, shampoo or soap. There were only table lamps in the room and after the light bulb blew out we went to complain. They tried to offer us an "upgraded" room not really any difference just closer to the pool. Although we complained we never received bath towels, soaps, or a working light bulb! The pool was clean but the hot tub was really cold maybe they shouldn't call it a hot tub.
Also it was implied that we could use our credit card for the stay, the machine was sitting on the desk when we checked in, when we went to pay we were told they didn't accept credit cards and the machine had been moved back out of sight.
We really felt as if we had been taken advantage of. Charged a high season rate for low quality service. The restaurant had little to no choices and seemed extremely high priced, the wine tasted like it had sat in the sun and spoiled even after a fresh bottle was opened.
Venao is a great beach for surfing and enjoying the day but I wouldn't recommend staying the night.

It's about a 4-5 hour drive from Panama city. The hotel accommodation includes a full breakfast in your cost but as far as I know, no option for all inclusive. There is pretty much just one airport in panama city.
