Hotel's Favorite
We stumbled across this hidden gem while on a 7-day road trip through South Dakota & Wyoming. It was unbelievably charming and the perfect 2-night respite. Every single detail was well thought through and executed perfectly. Check-in was a breeze and Nick was fantastically welcoming and helpful! All other staff we encountered were wonderful as well. The lobby was absolutely adorable and the perfect place to have some milk and cookies (served daily!) and relax. Both pools and the hot tub were great - clean and exactly what you need after a day of hiking in Custer State Park! Our room was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. The grounds were beautiful and had great little spots to lounge and enjoy the weather. The cafe on-site is equally perfect. Great, quick food and coffee and adorably appointed space! Loved the quick-ordering options online and at the Kiosk inside - helped expedite things when we wanted a bite before our day of adventuring began! The hotel's location just a short drive to Downtown Custer and Custer State Park was an added bonus! We can't wait to stay again sometime in the future! We were absolutely charmed!

We took a full summer cross country trip and the Bavarian Inn was one of our favorite hotels! Our kids (18 and 8) loved it, we felt so welcome. We all agree we would go back to the Bavarian Inn. The hotel is convenient to all the wonders of South Dakota (Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, the Badlands). There were all kinds of games and activities for us all. The staff were friendly and welcoming, every detail was thought out. Loved it!

A cute hotel, with lots of amenities, (indoor and outdoor pool, tennis court, games). Our room was clean, spacious and equipped with everything we needed. Sadly our room had no windows (only a door with glass pane). So no fresh air. Beds (mattresses) could be better. We had booked this hotel in 2020, but could not make it due to covid. This year, the price had gone up, the free breakfast was cancelled. With this price, I don't think I would return.

We were biking the Mickelson Trail and chose this for our last night on the trail because we wanted a break from just another chain hotel. This was a beautiful place to stay, with a great cafe for breakfast. It's a little ways from downtown and up a long hill, but we biked down the hill and spent the day there before biking back up for cookies at 3:30. I would definitely recommend it to anyone biking the trail. *Weekday rates are much cheaper than weekends, hence my "Budget" rating for hotel "expense" rating.

We stay here for 3 night and had good stay. This is a basic motel with clean rooms, which is only cleaned before you arrive. After that, if you want housekeeping you have to make special arrangements with the front desk. They have a note pad you fill out if you want clean towels, garbage bags, etc... during your stay, otherwise nothing will be replaced. We did not mind that. There is no breakfast, but they have a cafe on the property where you can buy some. Overall, good stay at a fair price. The memory foam mattress was very comfortable.

The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The inspirational quotes that you find throughout the hotel give it such a welcoming feeling. The staff is friendly. It’s a great feeling to get away from the major chain hotels. We will be returning soon

Out of the 4 hotels that we stayed in this past week, my daughter said this was the most comfortable for her. The extra sleeping area in the suite was nicely done with extremely comfortable bed linens. The hotel is quaint but clean with a very nice heated pool/hot tub area. The start of the show for this place though was their breakfast spot (not included in your stay) on property. They have everything from over night oats with chia seeds and fruit to huge breakfast croissants all extremely reasonably priced. So even if you don’t stay here, be sure to stop in for breakfast. Oh and their pastry cabinet of SD state desserts is amazing! All house made! My only negative for our stay was that the room didn’t have darkening shades and it was extremely bright at night due to the parking lot lighting. That being said, we would stay here again!

The perfect accommodations for our family of 5! Our rooms were comfortable, very clean and had all the amenities we needed. The beds were great and our room warm and cozy. The staff were exceptional and friendly and tried to make our stay memorable. The indoor heated pool and hot tub were hits with the whole family!! We spent a few hours one morning playing the free arcade games and assorted card games and box games available in the lodge. Their restaurant on the property was very good for breakfast. You will love Bavarian Inn!!
