Normally, we really prefer to stay in State and National Park Campgrounds. However, in this area of the country, it can be tough obtaining the right campsite in Custer State Park. They book up REALLY fast, can be difficult to reach, and most likely will not have the hook ups that you want or need. Therefore, we looked at other options and found this privately owned campground. For us, it was convenient in terms of driving to the sights which we planned to visit (except the Badlands which was an all day affair). This campground keeps very busy during the Summer, however, you do not feel any hustle and bustle of neighbors or any coming and going. We stayed 5 nights; 2 nights in one site and 3 nights in another one. We did not have sewer hook ups, so we dumped (dump station by the main office) when we moved from the first site to the second site. The friendly owners have owned this campground for three years and love what they are doing. Is the campground perfect? No, however, it is NOT anything like an "RV Park" which we avoid like the plague, and therefore we were glad to be here. Our sites were a bit challenging to get level, but we managed.

Thank you for this review! We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay. We have never had any complaints about levelness before but we will certainly look into it. We love the state park feel of the campground as well. We hope to see you again in the future!

We had a great time at Big Pine Campground. Space was great for our 18 ft camper. There were large spots available also. They were booked through the busy season. We got our reservations 4 months in advance. Shower house was average, which was fine for my needs. I used laundry on-site which was coin operated. The people were very friendly. Highly recommend. It is located on the outskirts of Custer. Very close to the park.

The owners, Bill and Jennifer, are extremely delightful and hospitable hosts. Bill and Jennifer, as well as their staff, are very pleasant, hardworking and provide wonderful sightseeing information for their guests. The campground is in a great location - just a short drive from Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Deadwood, Needles Highway and much, much more. This beautiful, picturesque campground features spacious campsites, firewood delivered to the campsites, super-clean bathrooms and showers, as well as a wonderful family game room and great laundry room. In addition, all guests receive fantastic customer service! Be sure to stop into their campground store where you will be greeted with a warm, friendly smile and great conversation! Our family absolutely recommends this campground and we will definitely return to this paradise in 2022!

This is a nice, quiet campground while still being near to all the area has to offer. The spaces are large and wooded. The bathrooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. The only downfall was the moths! We killed literally hundreds in our pop-up during our 6 night stay. That’s not the campground’s fault, but it was definitely downfall as the moths eat the fabric in our pop-up. Otherwise a wonderful stay!

Yikes! That is so terrible. Those moths come for about a week every year, and I agree, it is bothersome. Im very happy that you enjoyed your stay here though. We hope to see you again! Thank you for the review!

They have running water and clean bathrooms with showers. Great location near Mount Rushmore, Needles Road, Crazy Horse, Sturgis and Deadwood, also just a couple hours away from the Devils Tower, thats where the movie Close Encounters of the Third kind was filmed.
