Detailed Reviews
Sunset RV Park is our 125th stop and we stayed for 7 nights. Less than 5 minutes from downtown Custer and close to so many of the popular attractions. Received some texts from the owners on the way to the park to get some specific instructions and to provide an ETA. Went directly to site 6 and a short time Bill and Tami stopped by. Sat at the picnic table and chatted for 10 minutes about the park, local attractions and made final payment. A wonderful way to be welcomed. As others have mentioned, only 9 sites and must be self-contained. Great distance from your neighbors and in the evening, very peaceful which was especially good on Labor Day weekend! This particular site was a back in (as they all are) deluxe with great shade. The utilities are well-placed and the site was level once you got up the small hill. Next to us there was a field and often had deer walking by and the sunsets were great. For the pups, we went into town to walk them or walk the Mickelson Trail. On the way out, the owners stopped by to say goodbye and thank us for staying with them – wonderful people! I would rate this a 4.8 and would definitely stay here again in the future. Connectivity (4 pm): T-Mobile 13.2 down/3.42 up; Verizon 55.5 down/2.05 up; Park WiFi 70.4 down/59.7 up and very consistent.

The smallest RV park we have ever stayed in, Sunset RV is also one of the friendliest. Tami greeted us as soon as we arrived, then came back 30 minutes later to take payment and provide a formal welcome with small gifts of lip balm and dog treats, along with maps and good information of the area.
All sites have FHU. Electric was unusually good, while the water pressure was weak at 37 psi. There is no cable and unfortunately, no local television channels, so unless you have satellite service, there will be no television. Our site, #4, was relatively level and well maintained with fresh gravel. Plenty of grass surrounding the sites was a plus with a lot of room to walk your dogs.
If we visit the Black Hills again, we will certainly use Sunset RV as our base of operations.

Wonderful small campground. Very clean and well maintained. We chose a Deluxe site for the trees and shade. Full hookups at all sites. The sites are grassy and there is a central area with a community firepit. This is an adults only campground which was nice, kept things quiet. It is dog friendly and our 2 dogs loved it. Bill and Tami(the hosts) greeted us after we came in and had homemade dog treats and some lip balm as welcome gifts. I loved the extra touches of flower baskets at each site and central area. Bill and Tami are very knowledgeable about the area and brought maps and flyers of area attractions. It's located just a couple of mile outside of Custer, so easy to take day trips to all the beauty The Black Hills has to offer.
There is no bathhouse, so must be self contained to camp there.
We enjoyed our 4 night stay and will definitely stay again if in the area.

Clean, quiet, small & dog friendly campground that was perfectly situated to visit Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse & Badlands National park. The owners meet us on check in with lots information & we’re very helpful. If you are wanting a perfect RV park this is the place to go. I will definitely be back !!!!!
