The motel outside is unremarkable and easily missed - as we did. However the rooms are great, not overly large but very comfortable, we had twin queens and quiet. Great air con which could easily be adjusted. Lovely lady on check in who gave us great information on things to do and see as well as breakfast. Congratulations to whoever... More

I gave this place a shot based on reviews. This has the worst bed ever. Like being eaten alive by A foam bowl! And what is with the citronella?? Air freshener. They are trying to fix this place up, but seriously if the bed is terrible why bother. Paid the same price a day before in Lusk Wy at the... More

The sign does not do it justice. It looks like a seedy motel on the outside, but don't be fooled! The rooms are actually very nice. It looks like they've recently remodeled them. The wall paneling (nice wood, not cheap 70s stuff), microwave, fridge, flat screen TV, bedspreads, carpet, and tub surround look brand new. The only downside was that... More

The owners haven't gotten the new sign up for the Mystic Valley Motel. It simply says 'Valley Motel'. Reading reviews made me aware of this fact so was very easy to find. We stayed in Room 5, which was newly remodeled. This cabin style room was very comfortable. New beds and updating of the room. The bathroom was very small.... More

Pro: remodeled motel, smells new (except room #1 next to the front desk, Trisha the owner said they will fix the problem of the moldy smell.), very very clean (I am very picky about this), comfortable bed and very soft comforter (I will have back pain if the bed is not good)! The owner was very nice and helped us... More

Apparently customer loyalty with the new owners isn't important. After 10+ years with the previous management, the new owners gave away our rooms without even consulting us. More than a "rookie" mistake I believe. Wi-Fi marginal. E-mails go unanswered. Beware

Really enjoyed staying at this very clean & well cared for budget motel. Family run motel with cabin-like rooms really close to downtown Custer! If visiting Mt Rushmore & Custer State Park, and not looking for a fancy brand name accommodation, then this place is great!! Wifi isn't terrific, but the family is working on fixing it.

We booked a room through expedia and paid when we checked in. When we checked in we were offered to look at the room before we accepted the charge, which was nice to know exactly what we were paying for before we accepted the charge. The room was mediocre, good enough for us, especially since we just used it for... More

Stayed in rm 11. Newly renovated efficiency with 2 queens, a full and a lot of room. Ultra clean. Family run. Had laundry done for $10, washed, dried, folded in an hour. And a plate of 5 chicken enchiladas for another $10. Not fancy, wifi was so so, but one of the nicest places I stayed at all week.

Due to tripadvisor, I decided to book this place. The exterior definitely would not make you stop. In fact, I thought TA had steered me wrong. No way! I just loved this place. It is quaint and cute and immaculate. I slept great in the comfortable beds and did not hear a single sound all night. There was a microwave... More
