Stayed 1 night in the lodge. Room was small but comfortable with a nice view from the window and the front and back of the lodge. Would not recommend the restaurant however. Poor service and expensive for value.

Convenient for Custer State Park, and 25 minutes from Mount Rushmore. A mile from Sylvan Lake. Comfortable, but could stand updating. Rooms have microwave, and a good size refrigerator. No issues with this hotel, and would definitely stay here again.

I guess I've been to too many national park lodges to get excited about staying at Sylvan Lake Lodge. Our room was very tiny. We had to step over suitcases and even though there was a small closed with a luggage rack, the closet was too small to get a suitcase into. I think the overnight rate for the tiny... More

Had the grandkids ready to go fishing at Sylvan Lake and needed to make sure no own got 'hangry'... quick service, very tasty, and the front staff were super nice. Its a beautiful location, by the way.

It is hard to beat the location of this seasonal lodge, located along the Needles Highway in the Black Hills. It sits high above the eponymous lake and has commanding views of the area. The common areas of the lodge are warm and inviting, if a bit rustic. As restaurants are few and far between in the area, we ate... More

We only had a night to stay in a new-ish, cute cabin on Sylvan Lake but loved our time there. We walked around and explored the interesting terrain around the lake and went for a swim too. Dinner at the lodge was pretty good and the view from there at sunset was amazing. Kind staff, kid friendly, sad we had... More

Our family of 16 had dinner at the Sylvan Lake Lodge Restaurant. We arrived a little early and were seated at once. We were assigned one waiter, who worked hard to see that we had a good experience. While service wasn't swift, the 9 children went outside and viewed the lake below while waiting for dinner. It is a white... More

Sylvan Lake Lodge cabins are comfortable, well-equipped, and priced fairly for this tourist area. They are popular: we booked five weeks ahead and got the last room of any type for our date. The lodge restaurant was a bit pricey, but the food was very good. If cooking for yourself, obtain supplies before getting near the tourist area – try... More

The hotel needs a major update. Everything is old and worn. The rooms are small and not worth what they charge. On a positive note, the staff was very nice and helpful. The views were wonderful and Sylvan lake close. I would recommend staying at a cabin instead. They are much cheaper and newer looking.

This is a very basic hotel room and not equal to the price charged. The carpet in the elevator and hallways did not appear to be clean. Some of the front desk staff were very helpful; others were nice but not necessarily helpful. The HVAC unit was always noisy, but needed to keep air circulating in the room. We were... More
