Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.

Our first visit to Old No. 77 for a one night stay was very pleasant. We arrived around 1:00 and were able to check in right then Instead of having to wait until the official 4:00 check-in time. We had purchased one of the hotel’s special rates (which included a king room, valet parking, and $10 toward any purchase in the breakfast offerings) for $127 plus tax and fees. It was a great deal. The staff was friendly and helpful from start to finish. The vibe of the boutique hotel is really cool. It’s sort of retro, industrial chic. Loved it! The building is a converted old warehouse, and this is part of the charm of the place. There are lots of exposed brick walls, very tall ceilings, and painted exposed ductwork. Because of the layout of the building, many of the rooms have no windows or a small window with no appreciable view. We stayed in a windowless room and liked it. It was quiet and dark at night, which is what we preferred. The king bed was quite comfy and the A/C cold, another big plus for us. There was a large dresser, a desk with small a chair as well as a large chair for relaxing. The furniture is lovely and fits in with vibe of the hotel. There is a safe in the room and a nicely stocked honor bar and snack table. The down side to the room was the bathroom, which was tiny. It was fine for one night, but may become inconvenient if you’re starting several days. There was also no coffee pot in the room. The room itself was large with an original accent brick and stucco wall. There was a diamond shaped full length mirror attached to the wall with a vintage belt...just another unique and interesting touch. The lobby, bar and sitting area at the hotel was open concept and very appealing. It’s a great place to hang out. I had read some other reviews about the hotel being noisy and haunted. We experienced no such issues. If you like quaint, retro industrial style boutique hotels, this is a great choice at a good price point. Highly recommend.

Old No. 77 is cool, kitschy boutique hotel in a great location. Doors down from great bars and restaurants. An 8 minute walk from Cochon, a restaurant I HIGHLY recommend. 20 min walk or a cheap Lyft to the French Quarter. Our room was just what we expected until... We were woken up by what I thought was our room phone ringing. It turns out our room shared a VERY THIN WALL with a staff room. We could hear them talking as if they were in the room with us. I heard staff conversations and even music they played through their cell phone, which were all at a normal volume. They weren't being overtly noisy, they were just working, but I can't imagine anyone being okay with that level of noise coming from the other room. Sound proofing is DEFINITELY something this hotel needs to improve. Luckily, we called down for a room change and Corona set us up with a much better room (with a lot more natural light), which we were happy with. Also, be warned if you're driving there. There is free or paid no self-parking with the hotel, only $42/night valet. Your other option is a public lot across the street which you can pay hourly or $30/night.

Hotel staff not very happy with exception of bar staff. Rooms could be cleaner, shower in particular. Customers should be advised that rooms next to elevators are noisy all night and then again in the morning when cleaners start banging doors etc. The hotel is ok but definitely not exceptional.

Great locations just off of Canal by Harrah's Casino. Close to Riverwalk, The Aquarium of the Americas WWII Museum and the Warehouse District. Great lobby bar. Rooms are generous in size with high exposed beam ceiling (ours was an interior room with no windows) and are furnished in an industrial mid-century style. Very comfortable beds!! Lighting in the bathroom is poor. Ceiling fan. Not sure if the smell is due to the wood or it is just musty. Delightful staff at coffee bar and front desk.
